
Grapes cultivation in Dodoma Rural stands as a cornerstone of agricultural activity, emblematic of the region's agrarian heritage and economic potential. The multifaceted dynamics of the grape value chains in Dodoma Rural epitomize a complex interplay of agricultural, economic, and social dimensions. The research aims to provide actionable insights on influence of storage systems on grapes value chains in Dodoma rural farmers. A total of 133 respondents took part in the study through stratified random sampling, where data were analysed by descriptive, correlation analysis and regression analysis. The results suggests that increases in storage systems are associated with increase in the Grapes Value Chains and that improvement can increases motivation for increase of the grape production and cultivation to Dodoma rural farmers.
This research provided an in-depth analysis of the future production trends of dragon fruit in region 10, Philippines, using secondary data from the Philippine Statistics Authority. Employing statistical methods like descriptive statistics, trend analysis, time series analysis, ARIMA modeling, and cross-validation, the study revealed a steady increase in dragon fruit production from 2012 to 2022. It forecasted continued growth based on linear regression but cautioned about potential declines as indicated by ARIMA modeling. The research underscored the necessity of appropriate modeling for accurate forecasts and highlighted the influence of external factors on production trends. It aimed to guide farmers, policymakers, and stakeholders in strategic decision-making for the region's dragon fruit industry.
One of the regencies in East Java, Bojonegoro Regency, also relies on the agricultural sector to drive the economy after the oil and gas sector. One of the sub-districts that has productive land with a high contribution to rice production is Kanor sub-district. Because it is located on the banks of the Bengawan Solo river, the land in the sub-district is often threatened by pest attacks and affected by flooding. In an effort to prevent and treat pests, rice farmers in Kanor Sub-district choose to use pesticides because it is easier. Without the use of pesticides, the damage caused by pests causes a threat that suppresses rice productivity. On the other hand, the use of chemical pesticides without strict control and guidance also poses risks to the health of the population and the environment as well as damage to paddy fields due to nutrient depletion. Therefore it is important for farmers to choose the right pesticide product so as not to cause losses. Farmers' decisions to buy pesticide products are influenced by several different preferences, but specifically an important factor in influencing purchasing decisions is the marketing mix carried out by pesticide producers. On the basis of these findings, this study adopts the marketing mix variable as a predictor to explain farmers' pesticide purchasing decisions. The marketing mix referred to in this study is product quality, price, place and promotion. This research is expected to be one of the means for companies engaged in pesticide products in predicting the marketing mix which is often an important factor for farmers in deciding to choose pesticide products.
Availability of economical and easily accessible feeds that are high in both quantity and quality is a crucial factor in sustainable livestock production. The study aimed at determining the profitability of finishing sheep by supplementing using protein rich leguminous feeds. In a completely randomized experimental design, a group of 18 mass selected dorper yearling sheep, aged 17-19 months and an average body weight of 20.5±2.9 Kgs were assigned into 6 diet experimental units of 3 animals each. Analysis of variance and economic analyses showed Bush rye+Desmodium and African fox tail+Lucerne diets as the leading with net weight gain of 3.0±0.7 Kgs and 2.8±0.5 Kgs and profitable returns of Ksh 65,979.00 and Ksh 30,906.00 respectively for 100 units’ sheep establishment at the market live body weight price of Ksh 400/kg. Selection of a cost effective legume and right breed and genetics of the animal was an essential consideration for enhanced enterprise profitability.
The marketing strategy for Wingko Babat Dua Kelapa Muda products needs to be adjusted to market changes based on consumer behavior analysis, to increase sales of the company's products. The aim of this research is to implement the marketing mix and purchasing decisions for Wingko tripe as well as purchase intentions for Wingko Tripe Brand Dua Kelapa Muda products. The method in this research uses a descriptive method with primary data obtained from the results of Likert scale data collection. The results of the descriptive analysis show that the marketing mix in the Product aspect has a value of 3.55 which means high, the Price aspect has a value of 3.43 in the high category, the Place aspect has a value of 3.35 in the high category, the Promotion aspect has a value of 3.18 in the high category moderate, the People aspect has a value of 3.16 in the medium category, the Physical Evidence aspect has a value of 3.39 in the medium category, the Process aspect has a value in the medium category, the Purchase Intention aspect has a value of 3.6 in the high category, and the Purchase Decision aspect has a score of 4.3 in the very high category.
The study set out to investigate how fodder-purchase as a drought response strategy impacts smallholder cattle farmers' (SCF) cattle inventory during drought years. Information on self-financed fodder purchasing as a drought mitigation strategy is thin in the literature. We used pooled survey data from the National Income Dynamics Study (NIDS) collated in the years 2015 and 2017 in South Africa. The nationally representative data was comprised of smallholder cattle households that experienced 2015 to 2017 sustained drought events in South Africa. Propensity score matching method (PSM) was used for the analysis. Factors that influence SCF's decision to adopt fodder purchasing as a drought mitigation strategy include age, income, market participation, crop farm ownership, recipients of secondary off-farm income, social support beneficiaries and land ownership. The PSM result shows that fodder-purchase significantly and positively impacts smallholder cattle production during drought.
The research aims to analyze partnership patterns, income and feasibility of farming, as well as compare the income of partner farmers on sandy and sandy loam soils. This research was conducted in Paseban Village and Sanenrejo Village. The method used is descriptive quantitative by taking a sample of 30 partner farmers by census. Primary data was collected through interviews with questionnaires, while secondary data came from agencies related to the research. Data analysis uses income and feasibility analysis using the R/C ratio, BEP unit and BEP price. To find out the comparison of average income, the SPSS analysis tool was used with the Mann Whitney test. The research results show that the partnership pattern that exists between partner farmers and PT. Benih Citra Asia is a sub-contract partnership pattern. The income from farming watermelon seeds on sandy soil is IDR 13,510,870/ha, and on sandy loam soil IDR 16,495,867/ha. The R/C ratio value of partner farmers for sandy soil and sandy loam is >1, namely sandy soil is 1.235 and sandy loam is 1.468. It is known that the unit BEP value for sandy soil is 21.386 kg/ha and sandy loam soil is 16.519 kg/ha. The BEP price value is IDR 2,901,468/kg on sandy soil and IDR 1,858,364/kg on sandy loam soil. Farming carried out by partner farmers makes a profit and is worth pursuing. There is no difference in income between partner farmers on sandy and sandy loam soil.
Rice is a staple food in Indonesia which has an impact on the high demand for it. One thing that can be done to increase the productivity of rice farming is to utilize existing resources as efficiently as possible (technical efficiency). This study aims to analyze the technical efficiency of wet-rice farming and to analyze the factors that influence the technical efficiency of farming in Sumber Sari Village, Babulu Subdistrict, Penajam Paser Utara Regency. This research was conducted by direct observation to the research location and interviews with respondents, which were 53 farmers who had met the inclusion criteria. The results were then analyzed using the Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA) approach. Based on the research that has been done, it can be seen that the calculation of technical efficiency with constant to scale (CRS) has an average technical efficiency value of 0.954. While for the calculation of technical efficiency with variable return to scale (VRS), the average value of efficiency is 0.999. Factors that affect the production of rice farming include land area (X1), seed (X2), fertilizer (X3) and pesticides (X4). Meanwhile, labor (X5) which is a factor that does not affect the production of rice farming in this study.
Food safety, which is realized through P-IRT and halal certification, must be fulfilled by producers even though it is still on a household scale. This is because food safety is a guarantee provided by producers and a right that must be obtained by consumers. Where later this certification can affect sales and also the competitiveness of existing products, this research examined MSMEs in East Java and there were 50 respondents used. Based on the research results, it is known that food certification which is realized through P-IRT and is also halal has a positive and significant influence on sales and competitiveness of the food products produced. Likewise with the knowledge of MSME producers regarding sales and product competitiveness.
Performance evaluation is essential in defining supply chain strategies because by taking measurements, companies can find out how the business processes in the supply chain are running and formulate strategic policies to improve supply chain performance. Specialty coffee is a premium coffee with a unique aroma and flavor originating from a specific region, and it is easy to trace its origin from the farm to the consumer. This study aims to evaluate the performance of the Kayumas specialty coffee supply chain using the SCOR-ANP method and determine performance improvement strategies using ANP analysis. The research results can be concluded that (1) Kayumas specialty coffee supply chain consists of farmers, farmer groups, distributors/resellers, and consumers, (2) the performance position of Kayumas specialty coffee is inferior, (3) the performance improvement strategy needed to improve product quality is a partnership between supply chain members to reach a price agreement.
This paper examines the economic viability of irrigated rice production as a stable crop among farming households on Lake Gerio flood plains in Adamawa State, Nigeria, using 81 farm families selected randomly as respondents. Primary data collected through cost route by application of questionnaire were subjected to descriptive statistics, gross margin analysis, multiple regression analysis and allocative efficiency of resources to achieve stated objectives. Findings reveal married male households’ heads dominating (90.1%) the farming population, with a larger proportion (35.8%) owning 1.0 ha-2.0 ha of farmland. A Gross Margin (GM) of N119, 319 was recorded per hectare, signifying a viable economic activity for the farming households. Farm size (p < .001), labour (p < .001), educational level of farmers (p < .005) and quantity of fertiliser (p < .005) were found to be statistically significant in influencing yield of the crop. Cost of inputs (60.5%), inadequacy of funds (45.0%) and incidence of pests and diseases (22.2%) were the most experienced constraints among farm families. Conclusively, rice irrigation farming on Lake Gerio flood plains was profitable. Private and public institutions should intensify provision of credible extension services and making inputs available to farmers at subsidised costs.
The study was conducted to determine household demand for plantain in urban communities of Oyo State, Nigeria. The objectives analyzed the nature of demand for plantain as a consumer good, determined the relationship between plantain and other staples; and identified the determinants of household demand for plantain. A multi-stage sampling procedure was used to select 120 respondents for the study. Primary data was collected with the aid of a structured questionnaire and analyzed using descriptive Statistics and the Linear Approximate Almost Ideal System Model. The descriptive statistics showed that the households have an average age of 29 years with an average household size of 7 members. Most of the respondents have tertiary education degree and earned an average of 90,062.50 per month. Our findings further reveal plantain to be mostly consumed towards the end of the year between September to December due to the large sale of plantain at cheaper prices during this period. This is influenced by peak harvesting seasons across various regions of Nigeria in the rainy seasons, leading to much supply of plantain in the market. The result of the Linear Approximate Almost Ideal System Model (LA-AIDS) showed that the total household expenditure on food, age of respondents, marital status, and total expenditure on commodities like rice, yam, and yam flour determines the demand for plantain among the households. Demand elasticity categorized plantain as a luxury good with inelastic demand in the urban areas of Oyo State. Therefore, price and income generating policies that will enhance the purchasing power of households for plantain should be pursued with the provision of quality price information systems to improve household demand for plantain.
Changes in extension in the era of the industrial revolution 4.0 have greatly influenced the way information is delivered to farmers towards providing a more dynamic flow of information. This open access to information is the result of the effects of the use of information and communication technology, especially advances in cell phones and the internet. Information and communication technologies in agricultural development require certain educational processes and capacity building due to some technical difficulties and lack of skills to apply it. However, the smart city concept that implementing in Batu City in fact has not been successful. So, the objective of this research is to identify the obstacles of farmers in using innovative technology to promote the agricultural products. This research is using qualitative method with the data analysis method using Miles and Hubberman. The data was collected from indepth interview to extention workers. The results of this research shows that there are three obstacles that affects the utilization of innovative technology, such as farmer’s capability, management of application, and features of application complexity.
In response to the growing demand for sugar that surpasses national production, enhancing sugar production capacity becomes imperative. This study, conducted in Watugede Village, Puncu District, Kediri Regency, East Java, from March to April 2019, explores the partnership dynamics between sugarcane farmers and sugar factories. Employing in-depth interviews and purposive sampling, the research assesses sugarcane farming feasibility, highlighting a favorable R/C ratio of 1.2 and a BEP unit of 37,837 kg, indicating the economic viability of sugarcane cultivation with revenues reaching Rp. 65,615,000. The agribusiness collaboration model identified is a subcontracting pattern between PG. Tjoekir and sugarcane farmers. Additionally, utilizing Porter's diamond model, the analysis reveals conducive factors supporting farmers' market access. These include favorable environmental conditions for sugarcane cultivation, a rising demand for sugar, and access to market information. In conclusion, fostering partnerships and improving farming practices showcase promising avenues for bolstering the sugar production sector.
Milk is a food commodity that Indonesia continues to import in large quantities and continues to increase every year. This happens because demand continues to increase and cannot be matched by domestic production. This study aims to determine the competitiveness of dairy milk in Lekkok District, Pasuruan Regency which is the area with the largest dairy cattle population in East Java through the Policy Analysis Matrix (PAM) method. The analysis shows that the PCR value is -0.54 (<1), meaning that milk cultivated by farmers has a competitive advantage. The value of DRCR is 0.02 (<1) indicating that the milk cultivated by farmers also has a comparative. Overall, the input-output policy implemented by the government has not fully benefited farmers. The results of the sensitivity analysis showed that when the rupiah exchange rate weakened at 10% and 20%, the costs incurred by farmers increased and were directly proportional to the revenues that also increased.
The purpose of this study was to: 1) Describe the status and role of middlement in the trade and marketing of pepper, 2) Describes the purchasing system is being run, 3) Describes how to set the price, 4) Explaining SRM and CRM performed by middlement in maintaining a relationship with supplier and customer. This research used qualitative that have descriptive explanation characteristic. The researcher used participant-observation (participant observation), interviews and photos as the tools of collecting data. The determination participants and key informant for this research used snowball sampling techniques, with one participant and four key informants. This research used qualitative data that have descriptive explanation characteristic, are analyzed descriptively. The results of this study indicate that: 1) Status as a peppers collector in the pepper trading and marketing activities was the person who runs three roles at once, 2) Purchasing system was done by the collectors by collecting and looking for pepper from farmers (suppliers) to be purchased in accordance with market prices, and payment usually by giving cash advance prior to the harvest or by paid upon trading activities are taking place, 3) The system in pricing is applied and executed by an intermediary trader, namely the Mark-Up Pricing Method, amounting to IDR 2,000.00/kg pepper from the price given to customers, 4) The relationship management of supplier and customer who performed by collectors consist of: CRM activity (real relationship with customers and customer satisfaction), and SRM (commitment, communication, honestly, discussion, and sharing of information).
The objectives of this research were to analyze the financial feasibility and the comparative advantages of the coconut sugar agroindustryin the form of crystal sugar and block sugar. This research is a case study in the centre of coconut sugar industry in Purbalingga Regency, namely Pengalusan Village, Mrebet District which was chosen purposively. Survey method was used in this research by interviewing 40 respondents for coconut crystal sugar agroindustry and 24 respondents of coconut block sugar agroindustry for primary data. This research also used secondary data from Statistical Agency. The analytical method used were the analysis of costs, revenues, profits, and R/C ratio, as well as DRC (Domestic Resource Cost) analysis. The results showed that the R/C ratio analysis for crystal sugar agroindustry was 1.11, and for block sugar agroindustry was 1.04. It means that both agroindustry are financially profitable so that they are feasible to do, though they just receive small profit. The results of the DRC ratio analysis showed that the coconut crystal sugar agroindustry has a comparative advantage so that it can be produced cost-efficiently when using domestic resources. The coconut crystal sugar agroindustry in Pengalusan Village has a comparative advantage with a DRCR (Domestic Resource Cost Ratio) value of 0.505, which means that agroindustry is efficient in allocating domestic resources and is able to save US$ 0.505 of foreign exchange from every US$ 1 unit. Therefore, to meet the demand for coconut sugar, it is better to increase domestic production.
The aims of this research delve into the identification and analysis of key factors that influence the role of coastal women in ensuring family food security and preventing beach abrasion in Indonesia, from an ecofeminist perspective. Structural equation modeling is used to identify and analyze the influence of factors such as Role Identification (X1), Involvement and Control (X2), Coastal Women Contribution (X3), and the Influence of the Impact of the Adaptation Era (X4) on the Factors that influence the role of coastal women (Y), in food security and preventing beach abrasion in Indonesia. The research results show that coastal women farmers earn 58% more income than men. The role of coastal women in preventing beach abrasion is by 4 social movements, are Pokdarwis, Reforestation, Education, and against mangrove logging. There are 3 factors that influence the role of coastal women in food security and abrasion prevention (Y), involvement and control (X2), the contribution (X3), and the impact of the Adaptation Era (X4), with P values < alpha value (?) 0.05. The implications of this research extend beyond the Indonesian coasts, offering insights into global initiatives aimed at promoting gender equality, sustainable development, and climate change mitigation.
Determining national and regional superior commodities is the first step in agricultural development based on the concept of efficiency in order to gain comparative and competitive advantages in facing the globalization of trade so that regional development needs to be carried out in accordance with its development, potential and development policies. The selection or arrangement of priorities is carried out using a logical and structured procedure. The preparation of the strategy is carried out by competent and representative experts related to the alternatives that will be prioritized. AHP analysis is used to solve measurable (quantitative) problems, which require opinion (judgment) or in complex situations. The three strategies used in this research are Providing Production Facilities, Strengthening Human Resources, and Strengthening Farmer Institutions. To find out the Organic Product Development Strategy, a questionnaire was carried out by distributing questionnaires to relevant government officials or agencies totaling around 30 respondents in order to obtain the information that researchers needed. The questionnaires collected from respondents were then tabulated, then analyzed using Expert Choice software. Strategy for Providing Infrastructure and Production Facilities the selection of irrigation networks has the highest percentage, namely 44.8 percent, in the strategy of strengthening human resources, processing training and product marketing, it has the highest percentage, namely 54.9 percent, in the strategy of strengthening institutions, providing market access facilities, it has the highest percentage, namely 71.0 percent, the criteria for strengthening farmers' human resources shows that the alternative strategy that is the main priority in developing organic products is strengthening farmer institutions 46.2 percent.
The encroachment of small-scale mining (galamsey) on fertile lands poses a significant threat to cocoa cultivation, affecting farmers' livelihoods and raising concerns about environmental sustainability. This study addresses the complex interaction between small-scale mining and cocoa farming. Conducted in the Bosome Freho district, Ashanti Region, the study employs a quantitative research design, utilizing a survey method with 316 cocoa farmers affected by galamsey. Descriptive statistics, including frequency and percentages, are applied to analyze data. Factors driving cocoa farmers to participate in galamsey include perceived profitability, low cocoa yields, high maintenance costs, and reduced cocoa prices. The perceived impact of galamsey on livelihood outcomes reveals concerns about environmental degradation, reduced farm output, soil fertility decline, and health and safety risks. Livelihood strategies employed include on-farm practices like intercropping and livestock rearing. Galamsey poses multifaceted challenges to cocoa farmers, affecting not only their livelihoods but also the environment and socioeconomic activities. The study highlights the need for comprehensive policies addressing the complex interplay between mining and agriculture, safeguarding environmental sustainability and farmers' well-being. The findings inform policymakers of the urgent need for stricter regulations, environmental safeguards, and diversified livelihood options for cocoa farmers.
