
This article summarizes the exploratory factor analysis and confirmatory factor analysis results from a sample of ( N = 322) school counselors’ multicultural competence in three Midwestern states. Findings indicate the factor analytic structure of the original Multicultural Counseling Inventory (MCI) can be revised to a parsimonious 15-item, three-factor model for school counselors. Implications suggest that research with the refined 15-item MCI in other areas and more diverse populations is warranted.
This article discusses strategies to improve career planning for middle high school students. Currently, some of the IX middle high school students are having problems in planning their careers. There are still students who don't know where they will go after graduation. There are students who after graduation choose schools at random, based on the choice of their parents or with friends. Here it can be seen that there is no contribution from the student's interests, talents, and desires. Therefore, it is very necessary to have career planning as a process of choosing a career direction, taking into account the opportunities, constraints, and options to achieve the desired career goals according to the potential of students such as talents, interests, intelligence with consultations between counseling teachers, students, and parents or in the form of an instrument. So, it is hoped that counseling teachers at schools have strategies in improving, developing, and directing junior high school students in career planning, and there is nothing wrong in choosing a career for their future.
Pada institusi pendidikan banyak guru BK yang memiliki permasalahan hingga hambatan yang menyebabkan tidak efektifnya proses bimbingan dan konseling di sekolah. Keadaan ini disebabkan factor internal dan eksternal yang menjadi pengahalang bagi guru BK dalam menjalankan bimbingan dan konseling di sekolah. Artikel ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis terhadap dasar, aplikasi dan permasalahan guru BK di sekolah. Metode pengumpulan data yang di gunakan pada artikel ini adalah kajian Pustaka. Metode yang digunakan untuk pengkajian ini studi literatur. Data yang diperoleh dikompulasi, dianalisis dan disimpulkan sehingga mendapatkan kesimpulan mengenai dasar, aplikasi dan permasalahan guru BK di sekolah serta solusi yang mampu menurunkan sebagian masalah yang sama terkait dengan permasalahan guru di sekolah. Aplikasi terhadap permasalahan guru BK di sekolah adalah guru bk dapat mengembangkan potensi dirinya dalam menunjang layanan BK di sekolah sehingga guru BK dapat memberikan afektifitas yang positif dalam menciptakan suasana belajar yang kondusif serta mampu memberikan kontribusi terhadap pengembangan potensi serta pembentukan karakter peserta didik.
Artikel ini membahas tentang kesesuaian antara minat dan bakat dalam menentukan jurusan pendidikan tinggi melalui bimbingan karir di sekolah menengah atas, metode yang digunakan peneliti adalah studi kepustakaan yang mengkaji berdasarkan jurnal dan buku. Bimbingan karir sangat lah penting bagi peserta didik sekolah menengah terutama sekolah menengah atas, salah satu nya dalam pemilihan jurusan. Pemilihan jurusan yang tepat juga berdasarkan kesesuaian antara minat dan bakat peserta didik. Minat dan bakat yang sesuai dengan pilihan juusan mereka dapat memudahkan mereka dalam menemukan jati diri dan potensi mereka sehingga mampu memantapkan mereka dalam merencanakan karir masa depan.
Career guidance is needed both starting from the education period at school and up to the world of work. For this reason, being able to determine the right career choice for adults requires a long process, namely career planning which is influenced by the level of development. Guidance and counseling in the world of work helps workers to help solve problems and develop themselves. Counseling for retirement is held solely to prepare older employees for retirement. Career guidance should indeed be carried out at an early age to develop one's potential. The problems encountered in the field are the unpreparedness of the community to develop their potential and the lack of services from the government, therefore take advantage career counseling in workplace, community, employees and retirees.
One of the most important factors in a teenager's life is career exploration. Career is a choice of work that is a goal for an individual or can be interpreted as the development of a person's life journey. Career planning that is mature will be greatly influenced by the results of career exploration carried out by adolescents. Because in career exploration, teenagers carry out career tracking activities in a planned and systematic way towards what they are interested in and what suits their talents. Career exploration in the perspective of Holland's theory is how individual and environmental characteristics lead to career choices. There are six types of environment according to Holland's theory, namely Realistic, Investigative, Aristic, Social, Active and Conventional. This article uses a literature review research method. Literature review is a library research that is obtained through searching various books, journals and other publications that can support the research topic.
Perencanaan karir sangat penting untuk menunjang kesuksesan di masa mendatang, namun bagi sebagian mahasiswa tingkat akhir merasa khawatir akan rencana karirnya karena kurang paham tentang dunia kerja yang tidak disampaikan secara optimal saat di bangku kuliah. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode korelasional pendekatan komparatif dengan penelitian sebelumnya yang relevan untuk menunjukkan pentingnya bimbingan konseling karir di perguruan tinggi. Bimbingan karir sangat berpengaruh terhadap kematangan rencana karir yang menentukan kesuksesan di masa depan.
The college transition constitutes a vulnerability period for at-risk students. Although several risk factors associated with depression have been identified in the young adult population, very few studies to date have focused on the aspect of resilience during this academic transition. In the present study, a subgroup of resilient students, who did not report depressive symptoms despite experiencing some family risk factors, was compared to a subgroup of depressive students. The results revealed that, among these variables, a low level of dysfunctional attitudes related to dependency and well-defined personal goals can be considered as being higher resiliency variables.
In this follow-up study, 973 members of the American School Counselor Association (ASCA) were surveyed regarding their use of technology in day-to-day counseling activities. School counselor use of technology for student planning purposes has increased over time, while its use in responsive services has not changed significantly. Counselors now answer email and respond to non-urgent messages outside of work hours less frequently. The authors discuss implications for the future role of technology in school counseling.
The dissolution of adolescent romantic relationships can lead to a host of detrimental mental health, academic, and social issues for students. The purpose of this article is to discuss specific ways in which school counselors, using direct and indirect services can support students experiencing the trauma of a severed relationship. The article also emphasizes the importance of partnerships between school counselors, students, parents, teachers, and community practitioners. Two case studies are provided with specific recommendations for how school counselors can assist heartbroken students.
Shifting federal educational priorities and increased funding for pre-K means that more school counselors are interacting with and supporting children before kindergarten age in public school settings. One potential area of focus for school counseling with young students is executive function (EF), including emotional and behavioral regulation, noted in the research literature as essential skills that contribute to later school success. This position paper outlines the importance of EF and implications for school counselors, including using mindfulness as an intervention strategy to enhance young learners’ EF in individual and group contexts as part of a school counseling program.
