Yizong Shuoyue, consisting of 6 volumes, was written by Jiang Shiji,a physician in the Qing Dynasty.Written in the form of verses, this book integrates viewpoints from various scholars and presents unique insights into the four diagnostic methods, commonly used Chinese medicines and their processing,as well as common frequently-occurring diseases in internal and surgical medicine. With plain language and detailed discussions, the book promotes the popularization, simplification and accessibility of classics of traditional Chinese medicine. This article conducted an in-depth study and discussion on the academic thoughts of Yizong Shuoyue from the following five perspectives:elaboration of pulse diagnosis theory, treatment of typhoid fever based on disease differentiation, priority to color diagnosis in pediatrics, emphasis on blood regulation in gynecology, and cautious use of cold and cool herbs for sores and ulcers.
As a chronic digestive system disease in children, the incidence of infantile anorexia is increasing year by year with the acceleration of social life rhythm.Pricking collaterals at Sifeng(EX-UE10)is an external therapy of traditional Chinese medicine(TCM)with remarkable clinical efficacy for infantile anorexia, but its mechanism is still unclear. Therefore,by summarizing the pathological mechanism of infantile anorexia, based on collateral theory, the author expounded the TCM pathogenesis of infantile anorexia and discussed the mechanism of pricking collaterals at Sifeng(EX-UE10)in the treatment of infantile anorexia, aiming to provide a new explanatory perspective for the theory of clinical treatment of infantile anorexia.
This paper focused on the clinical dilemma of"warming yang may induce heat"and"nourishing yin may hinder dampness"in treating complicated syndromes of deficiency and excess, and systematically explained the clinical thinking of Professor Gao Hui in syndrome differentiation and treatment based on the"mutual reinforcement between dual yang"theory.Three typical proven cases were used to demonstrate the core mechanism of this theory as follows:taking warming and activating spleen-yang and kidney-yang as the pivot, stimulating the synergistic effect of gentle fire generating qi,so as to achieve the dynamic balance of"warming yang without inducing fire, nourishing yin without stagnating qi".In the treatment of sweating syndrome,salt-processed Morindae Officinalis Radix and roasted Epimedii Folium were used to warm yang and consolidate the exterior, combined with Anemarrhenae Rhizoma,Phellodendri Chinensis Cortex,Os Draconis and Concha Ostreae to check deficiency-heat.For senile constipation,Cistanches Herba and Morindae Officinalis Radix were applied to warm yang and resolve qi,together with Ligustri Lucidi Fructus and Ecliptae Herba to nourish yin and moisten dryness. In vertigo, gently warming kidney-yang helps elevate clear qi and lower turbid qi.All these reflect the therapeutic characteristic of"protecting yin as the substance, moving yang as the function".These cases confirmed that the"mutual reinforcement between dual yang"theory harmonizes the dynamic mutual assistance of spleen-yang and kidney-yang,thus resolving complex pathogenesis such as disordered body fluid distribution and reversed clear-turbid flow caused by yin-yang imbalance. It provided a new strategy of"simultaneous dredging and tonifying, harmonizing yin and yang"for difficult and complicated diseases with mixed deficiency and excess.
Objective To explore the medication rules and academic thoughts of Gong Tingxian in treating bi syndrome by using Traditional Chinese Medicine Inheritance Computing Platform V 3.5.Methods Literatures on treating bi syndrome recorded in Complete Medical Works of Gong Tingxian were collected to establish a prescription database.Statistical methods were used to analyze the frequency, nature, taste and meridian tropism of the herbs.Association rule analysis and cluster analysis were performed on high-frequency herbs with the calculation platform. Results A total of 57 prescriptions and 115 herbs for bi syndrome were obtained. The main efficacies of the herbs were tonifying deficiency, relieving exterior syndrome, and promoting blood circulation to remove blood stasis. Most herbs were warm or neutral in nature, bitter, pungent or sweet in taste, and mainly distributed to the spleen and liver meridians.Fourteen high-frequency herbs were screened out,77 groups of high-frequency herb combinations and 21 association rules among herbs were obtained by association rule analysis, and 5 categories of prescriptions were obtained by cluster analysis. Conclusion In the syndrome differentiation and treatment of bi syndrome,Gong Tingxian attaches importance to strengthening the spleen to eliminate dampness and bi syndrome, emphasizes qi and blood pathogenesis to promote qi circulation and activate blood circulation for relieving bi syndrome, and advocates treating both principal and secondary aspects, strengthening healthy qi to eliminate pathogenic factors,so as to cure bi syndrome.
Objective To identify, describe and evaluate the effectiveness of traditional Chinese medicine(TCM)exercise intervention for chronic obstructive pulmonary disease(COPD)by means of evidence mapping, and to present and discuss the quality of relevant evidence. Methods Computerized searches were conducted in CNKI,Wanfang,VIP,CBM,Web of Science,PubMed,Embase and Cochrane Library to retrieve systematic reviews/Meta-analyses on TCM exercise intervention for COPD published from database inception to January 7,2025.Methodological quality was assessed using the AMSTAR-2 tool.Key information was extracted with Excel 2019,and an evidence map was constructed to comprehensively present intervention types, number of studies, conclusions and methodological quality. Results A total of 41 systematic reviews/Meta-analyses were included, covering 4 intervention measures:18 on Tai Chi,11 on Baduanjin,9 on Liuzijue, and 3 on Wuqinxi. The interventions differed in mechanism of action and target populations.Nineteen outcome indicators were involved, among which pulmonary function,6-minute walking distance and quality of life were most frequently used.According to AMSTAR-2,the overall methodological quality of the included literature was relatively low, with insufficient reporting on research protocols, lists of excluded studies and funding sources. The evidence map showed that 25 studies concluded"beneficial"and 16"potentially beneficial".Conclusion TCM exercise intervention has certain therapeutic effects on COPD,but the methodological quality of existing systematic reviews is low,and studies on safety and cost-effectiveness are lacking.High-quality studies are recommended in the future to provide more reliable evidence-based support.
Pediatric epilepsy is a common, complex, and refractory disease in pediatrics. From ancient times to the present, most physicians have treated epilepsy based on the pathogenesis of wind, phlegm, fright, stasis, and kidney essence deficiency.Based on extensive clinical diagnosis and treatment experience,Professor Han Feng found that children with epilepsy mostly suffer from disorder of qi movement and muscle insufficiency due to the disease.Accordingly,Professor Han concluded that pediatric epilepsy is not only associated with the syndrome types recorded in clinical guidelines, such as wind, phlegm, fright, stasis, and kidney essence deficiency, but liver hyperactivity and spleen deficiency can also be an important pathogenesis. In clinical treatment, suppressing the liver and invigorating the spleen is often adopted as a key therapeutic method. For children diagnosed with liver hyperactivity and spleen deficiency, the self-made Zhidong prescription was used to suppress the liver, invigorate the spleen, calm epilepsy and stop convulsions, which achieves highly effective in children with prominent convulsion symptoms among epilepsy patients. One medical case was attached for verification.
