
Abstract Introduction.People of all ages have always enjoyed the forest, due to the peaceful environment, mild climate, extremely beautiful landscapes, fresh air, pleasant flower and plant scents. Over the past years, a new medical science termed forest medicine has developed, as an interdisciplinary science belonging to the fields of alternative medicine, environmental medicine and preventive medicine, which comprises the effects of forest environments on human health. However, beyond its use for pleasure, there is increasing evidence suggesting that the forest can offer very many benefits for health, including in cardiovascular diseases. Objectives.To bring to attention a less known and studied therapeutic issue, i.e. the effects of forest bathing on the human body, especially in cardiovascular diseases. Material and method. Given the heterogeneous nature of the evidence in the literature, these findings should be put together in order to allow an adequate interpretation. Thus, we reviewed the observational clinical studies (on prospective cohorts, case-control studies, retrospective cohorts), the randomized controlled trials (RCT) and nonrandomized controlled trials in PubMed, over the past 20 years, until June 2020, focusing on the effects of the forest in cardiovascular diseases. The search terms included forest, forest bathing, cardiovascular effects, blood pressure, diabetes mellitus, coronary artery disease, stress, psychological effects. Results and discussions.The results of the studies show that the benefits of the forest on the cardiovascular system are obvious regardless of age, sex, socioeconomic environment or previous exposure to a natural environment. Also, walking in the forest environment can promote cardiovascular relaxation by facilitating the parasympathetic nervous system and by suppressing the sympathetic nervous system. In addition, forest therapy can be effective in reducing negative psychological symptoms. The current literature supports the benefits of exposure to nature and green environments for human health, through the effects on: the immune system (increase of natural killer cells/cancer prevention); the cardiovascular system (hypertension/coronary artery disease); the respiratory system (allergies and respiratory diseases); depression and anxiety (mood disorders and stress); mental relaxation. Conclusions.The studies conducted show the cardiovascular benefits associated with continuous immersion in nature, but further research regarding this aspect is definitely required.
Introduction. The frequency of celiac disease (CD) and non celiac gluten sensivity (NCGS) varies in different geographical area and has gradually increased. CD and has high clinical inhomogeneity. Although it has been suggested that the patient with gluten-related disorders present different oral manifestations. The association between oral manifestation and CD, NCGS is controversial. Often in patients with gluten related disorders in the oral cavity can be found: aphthous stomatitis, desquamative glossitis, angular cheilitis, gingivitis, enamel hypoplasia, xerostomia etc. However in literature there are only few investigation of the association between gluten related disorders and periodontal diseases. Material and method. The study included 50 patients with existing periodontal pathology in patients with CD or NCGS aged 18 to 50 years. According to inclusion criteria patient were divided into two main groups (depending on the type of gluten related disorder): I (n=25) patients with CD, II (n=25) with NCGS. Periodontitis was defined according to the standardized procedure. Modified papillary bleeding index (MPBI), Fedorov-Volodkina hygiene index, PMA (papillary-marginal-alveolar index), periodontal probing depth (PD), bone mineral density (BMD) were obtained. Results and discussions. Participants of the I study group had a mean age +/- SD 41.03 +/- 8.3 years, II - 40.38 +/- 8.1. During the study it was found that in the structure of periodontal diseases general periodontitis were diagnosed predominantly. The mean value of MPBI in the patients with CD was 0.21 +/- 0.25 and in patients with NCGS 0,24 +/- 0.34. The Fedorov-Volodkina hygiene index in patients with celiac disease was 1.48 +/- 0.3 and with NCGS - 1.51 +/- 0.2. Depth of periodontal pockets in patients of I group was 3.25 +/- 1.71 mm., II - 2.88 +/- 1.64 mm. The mean PMA index in patients of I group was 28.9%+/- 15.0, II 24.88%+/- 14.1. The mean value of BMD in patients with CD range from 1200 to 1300 HU. In patients with NCGS 1100 - 1250 HU. Conclusions. The results of this study demonstrate a set of clinicoradiological features of periodontal disease in patient with CD and NCGS. The statistical analysis of the received clinical and radiological data did not reveal statistical differences between the studied groups (p=0.05).
Acute disseminated encephalomyelitis (ADEM) is a disease mainly affecting children, however, adult cases have been also reported. The disease represents a demyelinating disorder of the central nervous system, with a monophasic evolution and mostly full recovery. Mortality is documented at only 2%, but there are risks of complications in the acute phase, mostly due to the vast number of lesions and their distribution in the cerebrum. We present the case of a 40 year-old female patient who presented with visual impairment, coordination issues with walking difficulties, hypoesthesia of the entire body, back and upper limbs paresthesia, upper limbs and torso tremor as well as speech impairment. Symptoms appeared on the same day after discharge from the Infectious Disease Hospital where she was treated for viral meningitis. MRI findings on admission described multiple demyelinating lesions located bilaterally in the white matter and in the cervical spine. The patient was started on high dose parenteral methylprednisolone 1g/day for 5 days and afterwards was switched to oral corticoids with dose tapering over a period of 40 days. Rehabilitation treatment was started during hospitalization and continued after discharge. Evolution was favorable, with almost complete recovery, the patient presenting with only minor hypoesthesia of the torso at discharge.
The presence of Sulphur in human body is estimated to be around .25 percent from total body weight. The modern therapy includes among others the usage of Sulphur us spring waters as crenotherapy or external use like - therapeutic and preventive treatment for a large category of diseases. High levels of hydrogen sulphide are extremely toxic and as result the model of absorption of Sulphur could be useful as predictor in a daily treatment during a cure with sulphurous mineral water. This quantity of chemical elements from a specific diet rich in these elements absorbed in human organism is one of the most important characteristics of a benefic cure in medical diseases. The most studied mechanisms of absorption were studied for Zinc, Magnesium, Iron and Calcium. The most common way to develop a mathematical model is to use the pharmacokinetic equations based on Michaelis-Menten approach (first order model) and to develop it thereafter for quantitative relations. In some cases, only experimental data can exists and the pharmacokinetic model is not completely elucidated or a simplified model doesn’t exist yet. A model based on genetic programming is proposed in order to discover a mathematical relationship between dietary sulphate (mmol/day) and total sulphate in ileostomy fluid (mmol/day) using experimental data published in literature. The set of terminals that are used in genetic programing – GP (using Polish notation) is reduced to basic operation (sum, difference, multiplication and division) along with the most plausible operations that could have physical meaning: rooted square, exponential and power. The formulas discovered by GP using experimental proved a good fit of data with discovered mathematical formula, e.g. the rooted mean square error below 1.5% and R2 94.36%. Mathematical formulas discovered by genetic programming can be used as an alternative to pharmacokinetic model in order to predict sulphate and sulphite absorption and excretion. The usage of this method is especially efficient when the mechanism of absorption in not elucidated enough to provide a compartmental model given by a set of equations. A correlation with pharmacokinetic equations in the case that these exist will help the improvement of terminals and alphabet used by genetic programming in order to have a model closer to one that have a physical meaning.
Chronic kidney disease affects patients of all ages and, as it progresses, it greatly affects their lives, especially with the complications it causes. One major complication is renal osteodystrophy (ROD) which starts to develop from the early stages of the disease, but becomes most apparent in patients in need of renal replacement therapy. Diagnosing ROD in the early stages remains a challenge, which brings up the need to find novel biomarkers. Studies are focusing on the role of fibroblast growth factor 23 and Klotho in the bone and mineral homeostasis, but the results are conflicting. ROD remains a major complication in CKD patients, therefore we need to gain a better understanding from the pathophysiological point of view, in order to be able to adjust the medical therapy.
Introduction. Osteoarthritis is a chronic joint disease, a progressive non-inflammatory arthropathy-type. Globally, around 1.7 billion people are affected by musculoskeletal and rheumatic diseases, which indicates an increase in the last 20 years of around 45%. Material and method. The objectives of the treatment of patients diagnosed with osteoarthritis were: decreasing the pain, increasing joint mobility, muscle strength, trophic and muscle tone, increasing the quality of life and reintegration into the social and family environment. Demographic data and the functional status were assessed using the VAS scale, the WOMAC scale, the QOL scale. Results and discussions. The pain, the most important symptom in osteoarthritis, was diminished in the patients from the group, the evaluation on the VAS scale, but also on the WOMAC scale has showed the value reduction and the statistical significance of this decrease. The quality of life in the group patients after the application of the complex recovery treatment, especially of the kinetotherapy program. Conclusions. The application of the individualized recovery treatment and adapted to the age group has allowed the improvement of the values of the parameters of pain, rigidity, functional capacity. The recovery of patients aged 55-65 is important to ensure the percentage of professionally active persons, to reduce medical costs, as well as those generated by absenteeism, and the socio-professional reintegration of these patients.
The purely spinal form of multiple sclerosis, presenting as a progressive spastic paraparesis, hemiparesis, or, spastic monoparesis of a leg with varying degrees of posterior column involvement, is a special source of diagnostic difficulty. We present the case of a 47 years old patient, with no personal pathological antecedents, admitted in our department through the emergency ward for motor deficit of the lower limbs, sympthomatology that had an acute onset the day before admittance. The neurologic examination revealed: orthostatism and gait not possible, spastic paraparesis – 3/5 MRC (medical research council), deep tendon reflexes were found to be hyperactive on both lower extremities, bilateral plantar extension, a dermatomic level of sensory disturbance at T10 – T11 vertebral segment and urinary retention. The cerebral MRI revealed no pathological findings. The lumbar punction revealed oligoclonal bands and the spine MRI outlined multiple focal images with demyelination aspect reaching the cervical and dorsal level of the medullary cord. The patient had two more relapses each at approximately 6 months, and this allowed us to establish the final diagnostic: Pure spinal multiple sclerosis.Key words: spinal multiple sclerosis, paraparesis, neurorehabilitation,
Pubalgic syndrome is a growing disease with an incidence of 10% -13% of all injuries suffered during a competitive year in 2011. Once installed, it has negative repercussions on the spatial-temporal parameters, eliminating them from the competitive activity and implicitly having a negative effect on the socio-economic situation of the athlete, but also on the capital of the club where he operates. The study was conducted on a batch of football players affected by the pubalgic syndrome (pubis osteitis). All study participants were evaluated both initially and finally. Between the two evaluations, they benefited from a kinetic treatment protocol. At the end of the initial evaluation, the data obtained were compared and processed using statistical programs. Both in comparison of the results and their processing with the help of the statistical programs showed that the treatment protocol had positive effects on the symptomatology generated by the pubalgic syndrome, but also to the socio-economic situation of the athlete.
Dry eye syndrome (DES) is a multifactorial surface ocular disease often seen in elderly patients with a high impact on the quality of life. There are a lot of risk factors related to DES such as older age, female gender, postmenopausal estrogen therapy, lack of omega 3-fatty acid in the diet, medication (antihistamines), connective tissue illnesses, radiation therapy, corneal refractive surgery, cataract surgery, hematopoietic stem cell transplantation, vitamin A deficiency, hepatitis C, androgen deficiency, cicatricial pemphigoid. The diagnosis of DES implies classical and emerging examinations. There are several types of DES. It is very important to establish the type because the treatment is according to the cause. The treatment is based on artificial tears, topical steroids, Cyclosporine A, lubricants, punctual plugs and Fatty acids Omega 3.
Introduction. In the context of sustainable tourism development, tourist satisfaction looked at from the perspective of the experience lived in the destination and the quality of services rendered by service providers is one of the directions in which researchers point their attention. In this context, the purpose of this study is to measure the satisfaction of Generations X (GX) and Baby Boomers (GBB) with tourist services in balneal resorts, seen through the perspective of the sustainable development of tourism destinations. Material and method. Methodology consisted in the survey method, by applying the semi-structured questionnaire tool on a sample of tourists visiting the balneal resorts in the Subcarpathians of Oltenia between July and October 2019. Results and discussions. The results show that satisfaction with the access to and inside the destination is good, but the infrastructure requires modernization. Satisfaction with tourist services is good, but it requires the improvement of recreational facilities and treatment services, especially for the members of Generation X. As far as accommodation services are concerned, even though they received the most positive feedback, the vast majority of facilities have medium level classification. Direct or indirect interaction with locals, hotel staff, and local authorities is valued as good towards very good. On the whole, it is necessary to increase satisfaction for GX and GBB tourists, as this will bring greater benefits for all interested parties: hotel owners and staff, tourists, local authorities, and even the local community, who can become more actively involved in the tourist market. Conclusions. This study is useful for local authorities in order to develop sustainable tourism, and for economic agents in obtaining the projected benefits. Introduction.Temporomandibular disorders are considered to have a multifactorial etiology; thereby different treatment modalities are available, from occlusal equilibration, medication and physical therapy. Among physical therapies, occlusal splints, low-level laser therapy, acupuncture, ultrasound, TENS frequently used in current practice. The aim of physical therapies is to re-establish the muscle physiology by increasing the local blood and lymphatic flow. The aim of this study was to provide some clinical guidance regarding ultrasound therapy and TENS in case of temporomandibular disorders. Material and methods. A research of literature has been performed - articles published over the last 10 years (January 2009 until December 2019) were searched by introducing a combination of different terms, using the Pubmed and Science Direct databases.Results and discussion. A total number of 611 articles were found. After applying the inclusion and exclusion criteria, 20 articles were taken into consideration for the present study. Conclusion. Based on the findings within this literature review it can be concluded that for patients suffering from TMDs, ultrasound therapy and transcutaneous electrical nerve stimulation represent an effective non-drug-based conservative option, in order to improve symptoms like pain or hyperactivity of the masticatory muscles. Because it was difficult to compare the studies included, as they do not offer an optimal usage (program, duration of sessions, or number of sessions) of each technique we consider that further randomized controlled clinical studies are necessarily to compare each physical technique as well their combined effect in case of patients with temporomandibular disorders.
An 46-year-old Caucasian woman was diagnosed with idiopathic intracranial hypertension (IIH) after presenting with papilledema and bilateral visual blurring. Lumbar puncture revealed an opening pressure of more than 550 mmH(2)O. Cerebral magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) showed bilateral flattening of the posterior sclera, enhancement of the prelaminar optic nerve, distension of the perioptic subarachnoid space, intraocular protrusion of the prelaminar optic nerve and empty sella. The main purpose of the treatment was to release the symptoms and preserve the vision. It was initiated the general treatment with Mannitol 20%, 250 ml/day, Acetazolamide 2x500 mg/day and B-vitamins. After discharge the patient followed a treatment with acetazolamide 2x250 mg/ daily doses and oral potassium supplements 30 mg bid/day.
Introduction. Anxiety and depression are frequently associated conditions in COPD patients, and have also significant impact on their quality of life (QoL) and on the course of the disease. Pulmonary rehabilitation (PR) is an adjuvant, non-pharmacological method used in symptomatic COPD patients. The study aimed to evaluate the impact of COPD on QoL depending on disease severity, and to assess the supposedly positive effects of a pulmonary rehabilitation program (PRP) for COPD patients. Material and method. This research included patients with COPD GOLD stages II-IV undergoing bronchodilator therapy. QoL was assessed with the self-administered St George's Respiratory Questionnaire (SGRQ), and depression with the Beck Depression Inventory (BDI). PRP included 3-5 weekly physical training sessions for an average period of 12 weeks, but not less than 3 weeks. Results. The degree of QoL impairment was moderate in stage II (41.07) and severe in stages III (70.28) and IV (81.02). The most severe depression (score 26.6 vs 2.5 in healthy subjects) was also recorded in this group. After the patients underwent all PRP, QoL reassessment at 6 months revealed statistically significant improvements in all 3 groups (p <0.05). In the GOLD COPD stage II group the average reduction was -4.38 units, in the group GOLD COPD stage III -5.37 units, and in the GOLD COPD stage IV -6.75 units. The depression score correlated with the SGRQ score, both of them being higher in the severe stages of disease. BDI administered again 6 months after PRP revealed a significant improvement in average score in all groups, respectively a decrease of -2.17 units in the COPD II group, -2.03 units in the COPD III group and -1.88 units in group COPD IV B group. Conclusion. The results of this study demonstrate a favorable impact of PRP on improving COPD associated symptoms, depression, and QoL in all the 3 monitored COPD patient groups, with statistically significant and persistent positive results over time (6 months after completion of PRP).
Introduction: Extensive tattooing co-occurring with other lifestyle risk factors (cannabis and tobacco smoking) represents unhealthy behavior trends in some groups of teenagers and young adults. Case report: This case study synthetically presents a 2 years evolution of a 37-year-old man, with 20-year history of progressive and regular cannabis exposure and tobacco smoking. In January 2017 he suffered a severe paramedian thalamo-mesencephalic embolic stroke of undetermined source and coma, preceded by laborious tattooing maneuvers. Uncommon anatomical variants of cerebral circulation (a right-sided fetal type posterior cerebral artery and an inferred artery of Percheron) were detected. The rehabilitation program and abstinence from smoking tobacco and marijuana led to significant neurologic improvement, with no vascular recurrence until September 2018, when he suddenly suffered from a transient ischemic attack in the vertebrobasilar arterial territory. Recurrence of the cerebral ischemic event during a disciplined program of abstinence imposed clinical re-examination, blood analysis, peripheral venous Doppler, 24-hours ECG Holter. Finally transesophageal echocardiography has revealed the embolic source, and detected patent foramen ovale (PFO) with minimal shunt. He was informed that he should undergo PFO closure. His first option was for conservatory management, using a dual antiplatelet medication (75 mg clopidogrelum, 75 mg aspirin). In October 2019 his cardiac congenital malformation was successfully operated. Case closed. Discussion: Stroke was triggered by extensive tattooing maneuvers that induced bleeding, local and systemic inflammatory reactions, in a young person predisposed to cerebral infarction. The complex physiopathological picture included a "puzzle" of harmful xenobiotics (contained in cannabis and tobacco smoke, respectively in tattooing ink), overlapping with the unknown pre-existing asymptomatic cardiac malformation, and neurovascular uncommon anatomic variant. Prevention of stroke in young adults is the primary treatment strategy, as Hippocratic Oath postulates: "I will prevent disease whenever I can, for prevention is preferable to cure". Healthcare professionals must educate people and promote prophylactic interventions against modifiable risk factors. Secondary prevention of recurrent strokes must be directed towards etiology, and mechanisms responsible for the incident, and a rigorous management of additional risk factors.
Introduction In the present study the impact of aqueous and alcoholic extracts of Cuscuta reflexa were investigated on rats intoxicated with carbon tetrachloride (CCl4). CCl4 is known to intoxicate the liver of rats which can be easily be observed by examining the total protein, total bilirubin, alkaline phosphatase (ALP), aspartate aminotransferase (AST), alanine transaminase ALT). Cuscuta reflexa have been used in traditional medicine culture from time immemorial. In this study both the aqueous and alcoholic extracts of Cuscuta reflexa were found to have curative impact on liver profile of CCl4 intoxicated rats. Materials and Methods. The stem of Cuscuta reflexa were collected from host bougainvillea, dried in shade and were subjected to alcoholic (ethanolic), and aqueous extraction. Albino rats were intoxicated with CCl4 to induce hepatotoxicity. The CCl4 intoxicated rats were treated with low dose and high dose of both the extracts to assess the hepatoprotective impact on intoxicated rats. The results clearly revealed that the CCl4 administration altered liver profile. The altered liver profile parameters recovered to normal after administration of aqueous and alcoholic extracts. Results and Discussion. Administration of CCl4 induced hepatotoxicity in albino rats, which was evident with the results of serum analysis. Post CCl4 administration the liver profile parameters were altered. The CCl4 intoxicated rats were then treated with aqueous and alcoholic extracts of Cuscuta reflexa. Post treatment with the extracts the liver profile parameters recovered to normal. Conclusion: Present study reveals that aqueous and alcoholic extracts of Cuscuta reflexa were found to have curative impact on liver profile of CCl4 intoxicated rats.
If not treated adequately, the knee injuries in adolescents can cause long-term functional impairments. The aim of our study was to quantify the functioning capacity in children who suffered soft tissues and/or bone lesions of the knee treated by arthroscopy. We reviewed the medical charts of 5 adolescent patients diagnosed with sport knees injuries, admitted in our clinic in the last two years. Arthroscopy was made three weeks after the injury. Afterwards, they were addressed to the Rehabilitation Department and followed the physical exercise programme. The patients were assessed at the beginning of rehabilitation and after 3 months: knee ROM (flexion and extension deficit) and International Knee Documentation Committee (IKDC) subjective evaluation. At the final assessment all patients presented significantly improvements in knee range of motion and functional capacity. Arthroscopic surgery, followed by a tailored rehabilitation programme, is important in the management of adolescents with knee injuries.
The problem of treating dysplastic scoliosis in children is very relevant.The significant prevalence of pathology and early disability of patients necessitates the development of new methods to increase the effectiveness of therapeutic approaches, especially at the initial stages of the pathological process.Important for treatment is the consideration of dysplastic scoliosis as a manifestation of mesenchymal insufficiency syndrome.Our study aimed was to create individual stage-by-stage rehabilitation programs for children with dysplastic scoliosis of the I-II degree, including methods of differentiated kinesiotherapy and electrotherapy.In our study, we analyzed the results of complex stage-by-stage approaches to the treatment of children from 7 to 16 years old with dysplastic scoliosis of the I-II degree.Treatment and rehabilitation complexes included climatotherapy, standard kinesiotherapy, electrotherapy, massage, and balneotherapy (sanatoriumresort stage), as well as combined kinesiotherapy at the outpatient stage.The use of staged and integrated approaches to the treatment of children with dysplastic scoliosis of the I-II degree increases the effectiveness of therapy.It improves the quality of life of this group of patients.
Cardiovascular diseases continue to cause the highest mortality in Europe, among both men and women. Ischemic heart disease is responsible for most of these deaths. An important role in decreasing mortality and improving the prognosis of patients diagnosed with this disorder is played by cardiovascular rehabilitation programs. The short hospitalization period of patients with acute coronary syndromes who undergo revascularization procedures (in-hospital rehabilitation) becomes extremely useful to determine the cardiovascular risk factors underlying the development of these diseases and to implement lifestyle changing measures. Patients with ischemic heart disease included in rehabilitation programs will not only have the advantage of an increased exercise capacity, but they will also be monitored by qualified medical personnel for the evolution of cardiovascular risk factors. We aim to summarize the objectives to be targeted regarding these risk factors in the presence of a patient with ischemic heart disease included in cardiovascular rehabilitation programs. Introduction:Periodontitis is an inflammatory disease caused by a multitude of pathogens, that eventually affects the entirety of all periodontal tissues and may lead to tooth mobility or even tooth loss. The destruction of said tissues occurs via 2 pathways: a direct pathway (defense mechanisms belonging to the pathogens) and an indirect pathway (the host’s immune system). Therapy is complex and requires strict follow-ups in order to prevent relapse. Aim: Our objective was to determine whether or not aPDT can be considered to be an effective adjunctive approach to the current standard initial treatment method when dealing with periodontitis (scaling/root planing). Methods: We performed an electronical search of the PubMed and ScienceDirect data bases starting from January 2014 and up to May 2019. Eligibility criteria included English-language systematic reviews and randomized clinical trials which evaluated the efficiency of aPDT, and that had been carried out on human subjects with permanent dentition. We excluded studies and reviews that were focused on the microbiology and/or immunology in photodynamic therapy and also those that used other LASER treatment modalities than aPDT. Results: Current literature displays many opinions regarding periodontal therapy with adjunctive aPDT, but it seems to be mainly regarded as a safe, effective and easy-to-use approach. Conclusion: aPDT seems to be efficient in the treatment of periodontitis when carried out additionally to classical scaling/root planing. Residual pockets seem to respond well to aPDT, as opposed to subsequent debridement flap elevation and its consequences on hard and soft tissues. However, further studies with a stricter treatment protocol and subsequent follow-ups are required in order to obtain a firmer conclusion. Introduction Spinal cord injury (SCI) is a life-altering event usually associated with loss of motor and sensory, as well as with bladder, bowel and sexual, functions impairment. Recovering sexual function is one of the most important function tightly coupled with the life quality. In this respect, in the related literature can be found data regarding mainly: diagnosis/evaluation issues therapeutic/assistive-rehabilitative interventions (including connected to fertility troubles) and of psychological and or educational specific counseling, kind.Materials and methods.This paper presents a current systematic (of Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses – PRISMA – type) and synthetic literature review on sexual dysfunctions and respected available management options in male subjects with SCI, using the following search keywords/ combinations of key words: “men”, “sexual dysfunction”/ “fertility” / “erectile dysfunction”/ “ejaculatory problems” / “sexual disorder“, “spinal cord injury”, “paraplegia”/ ”tetraplegia” /“paraplegic”/ ”tetraplegic”, “management”/ “treatment”, by interrogating international renown data bases: NCBI/PubMed, NCBI/PMC, Elsevier, PEDro and respectively, ISI Web of Knowledge/Science – to check whether the selected articles are published in ISI indexed journals – considering publications from January 2009 to June 2019, written in English, open access articles and being “fair”/“high” quality on our PEDro inspired, customized quality classification of the selected papers – the basic criterion, being the weighted citations number per year.Results. We have found initially 647 articles and eventually, after accomplishing the PRISMA stages (without meta-analysis), we have selected 16 articles matching all the above mentioned quest method’s requests (see further the figure representing our PRISMA type completed flow-diagram), covering (together with knowledge acquired from extra bibliographic resources, too).Conclusions. Sexual disfunctions after SCI are complex and strongly add to the severe and multimodal disability the affected people – in the case of our work: men – experience.
