
Mathematics and culture are two things that are closely related to people's lives. Ethnomathematics can be an approach to learning mathematics to make it easier for students to understand mathematical concepts. Historical buildings can be objects for observing mathematical concepts. Al-Alam Mosque is one of the historic buildings in Jakarta which was built in 1520 AD. The Al-Alam Mosque was built by Sultan Fatahillah with the aim of spreading Islam as well as being a witness to the Portuguese liberation event from Sunda Kelapa. This research uses qualitative methods with an ethnographic approach. The data collection techniques used were observation, interviews and documentation. The ethnomathematics exploration of the Al-Alam Mosque that was studied was the geometric concept of the mosque building. In mosque buildings, mathematical concepts are found, which include flat shapes, spatial shapes, angular shapes and symmetrical shapes. This is an alternative solution to increase students' interest in studying mathematics by linking history and culture in everyday life
The summative evaluation assessment model is a model combining formative assessment and summative assessment. Learning outcomes in Statistics courses were measured using the summative evaluation assessment model on students of the Information Systems Study Program at Indraprastha PGRI University Jakarta even semester of the 2023/2024 academic year as many as 185 students. The purpose of this study was to analyze the items of the summative evaluation assessment model of the Statistics Course as many as 13 items. This research uses quantitative methodology. Items analysis using the Rasch Model. The results of the study, namely: 1) as many as 4 items fit from 13 items, 2) item 11 is a difficult item with an item measure score of 0.55 logit, and item 12 is an easy item with an item measure score of -0.32 logit, 3) the instrument reliability score of 0.49 shows an unfulfilled category, and 4) the item reliability score of 0.98 shows an excellent category. Based on the results of the study, it can be concluded that the summative evaluation assessment model has not been maximised by lecturers. This is because lecturers have not been maximized in providing feedback on formative assessments and summative assessments. The researcher recommends the next research on how lecturers provide maximum feedback to students on formative assessments and summative assessments.
Indonesia is the largest archipelagic country in the world, heavily reliant on maritime transportation, with Tanjung Perak Port being the second busiest port, playing a strategic role in East Java's economy. Analysis shows that fluctuations in the number of ship passengers at Tanjung Perak Port are influenced by seasonal patterns and calendar variations, such as spikes in passenger numbers during the Eid Al-Fitr holiday. To model these fluctuations, the SARIMAX (Seasonal ARIMA with Exogenous Variables) model is used, which accounts for both seasonal factors and exogenous variables. Results of this research show a significant relationship between the number of ship passengers and a dummy variable representing the month before and during Eid al-Fitr. The SARIMAX model used in this analysis confirms that the period leading up to and during the Eid al-Fitr celebration contributes significantly to fluctuations in passenger numbers.
This research aims to develop an interactive learning media of Addition Smart Board (PAPINJU) based on critical thinking analysis through reviewing the learning styles of elementary school students. The research method used the Research and Development (R&D) approach. The sample was selected using purposive sampling technique. Data were collected through a questionnaire instrument to identify learners' learning styles and a critical thinking skills test. The research participants were all grade 1 students of Bangsri 04 State Elementary School, whose learning styles were analyzed. A total of 15 learners were selected to represent three types of learning styles, with five learners for each type (visual, auditorial, and kinesthetic). The data analysis process was conducted through three main stages: data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The results showed several findings: 1. learners with kinesthetic learning style show the ability to fulfill all indicators, including explaining simply, designing strategies, and drawing conclusions. 2. learners with auditorial learning styles are able to design strategies and draw conclusions, but are less than optimal in providing simple explanations. 3. learners with visual learning styles can provide simple explanations and design strategies, but have difficulty in drawing conclusions.
This research is development research that aims to produce products in the form of LKPD based on Minimum Competency Assessment (AKM) which is valid, practical and effective. This type of research is research development. The development model used is the 4D model. There are four stages in the 4D model are define, design, develop, and disseminate. The data collection instruments used are validation sheets, questionnaires given to experts to find out the feasibility of the product and questionnaires given to experts. given to experts to find out the feasibility of the product and a questionnaire given to students to find out the attractiveness of the product. The purpose of this research is to explore the ethnomathematics found in traditional Bandung snacks. Additionally, the author hopes that readers will gain a better understanding of this ethnomathematics. This research was conducted in several locations in the Bandung area. The research method used to explore this ethnomathematics is a descriptive qualitative method, with data collection through observation, interviews, and documentation. The research instruments used were observation sheets and interview guides. After exploring the ethnomathematics in traditional Bandung snacks, the author concluded that these traditional snacks are a rich heritage that must be preserved. The research results show the presence of cultural philosophy and mathematical concepts such as ratios and geometry of plane and solid shapes in traditional Bandung snacks
Factor analysis is an important method in research to identify the underlying structure of complex data. Heart disease is a disease caused by a disturbance in the coronary blood vessels that causes narrowing and blockage so that it can interfere with the body's energy transportation process and also cause an imbalance between oxygen demand and oxygen supply. Various factors such as age, gender, smoking, etc. have an important role for a person to get heart disease. This study aims to analyze the factors that cause heart disease using the Principal Component Analysis (PCA) method. PCA is used to identify and reduce the dimensions of heart disease factor data. The data used in this study were obtained from journals and consisted of 7 variables. PCA successfully identified 2 main factors that explained 75% of the total variance in the data. Through dimensionality reduction, the number of variables was successfully reduced from 7 factors to 2 factors without significant information loss. This study found that the PCA method was effective in reducing the dimensionality of the data and identifying the main factors underlying the data.
The ability to think creatively is important for students to have in the mathematics learning process. However, the fact is that students still have difficulty creating novelty when given a problem. This research analyzes students' creative thinking abilities regarding high, medium, and low learning independence in mathematics. This research is a quasi-experimental research with a pretest-pottest design. The subjects of this research were 20 grade 12 students at an Ira College Foundation High School in Medan. The research instruments used were mathematical thinking tests, scales, and attitudes about high, medium, and low learning independence. Data was collected using questionnaires, tests, and interviews. This research shows that subjects with high learning independence can fulfill the creative thinking indicators of fluency, micro, and novelty aspects so they are classified as very creative. Subjects with learning independence are meeting the creative thinking indicators, aspects of fluency, and desire to be creative. Meanwhile, subjects with low learning independence only meet the creative thinking indicators for the fluency aspect and are therefore classified as less creative. These findings complement research related to the importance of independent learning in explaining variations in students' creative thinking abilities
Dengue haemorrhagic fever (DHF) is endemic in major cities in Indonesia. West Java Province is one of the provinces in Indonesia with a high number of DHF cases every year. To minimise the spread and increase of DHF cases can be done by controlling the factors that influence it. This study aims to categorise cities/districts in West Java based on factors that influence DHF cases. The data used are population density (Soul/ ), proper sanitation (%), healthy and clean living behaviour (%), access to proper water sources (%), and health index (%) in 27 cities/districts in West Java in 2021. In this study, the method used is the Hierarchical clustering method; namely the single linkage method, the complete linkage method, the average linkage method, and the ward method. The clustering methods are then compared based on the value of their standard deviation. The analysis results show that the best method used is the complete linkage method. The results of clustering areas in West Java based on factors affecting dengue cases obtained three clusters. Cluster 1 is the cluster with the highest level of dengue cases compared to other clusters. Cluster 1 consists of Depok city, Bogor city, Cirebon city, Bandung city, and Cimahi city. The characteristic of cluster 1 is that it has the highest average population density compared to other clusters. Cluster 2 consists of Cirebon, Bekasi, Banjar City, Bogor, Bandung, Karawang, West Bandung, Purwakarta, Kuningan, Majalengka, Pangandaran, Indramayu, Garut, Ciamis, Subang, Sukabumi, Cianjur, Tasikmalaya, and Sumedang. Cluster 2 has the characteristics of having the highest average percentage of households with access to proper sanitation, percentage of households with clean and healthy behaviour, and health index. Cluster 3 is Sukabumi City and Tasikmalaya City. Cluster 3 has characteristics with the lowest average in the percentage of households that have access to proper sanitation and the percentage of households with clean and healthy behaviour.
Extreme rain has a form of tail that the right side of the distribution is longer; it is not suitable for model using normal distribution approach. One of the statistical methods developed related to the analysis of extreme events in which the shape of the data distribution sticks out to the right is the extreme value theory (EVT). Two approaches are often used in extreme value theory: the block maxima (BM) method and the peak over threshold (POT) method. This study aims to compare the alleged extreme rain in Jakarta Province in 1990-2019 with modifications to the maximum value retrieval in BM method and several approaches to selecting threshold values in POT method. The two methods' comparison results show that the POT method is better at predicting extreme rainfall because it provides a value of root mean square error of prediction (RMSEP) value of 33.52 mm. This value is smaller than the RMSEP of the BM method, which is 47.92 mm.
Education is a key determinant of the quality of human resources in Indonesia. One indicator used to measure educational participation in a region is the Gross Enrolment Ratio (GER). This study focuses on analyzing the influence of the socio-economic conditions of the population and the number students of Universitas Terbuka on the Gross Enrolment Ratio for higher education (GER-HE) in Indonesia. The aim of this research is to analyze the factors that influence the Gross Enrolment Ratio for higher education in several regions. This study uses a quantitative research design with a regression panel data approach. The study area covers all provinces in Indonesia, comprising 34 provinces. The data used in this study is secondary data obtained from the Badan Pusat Statistik (BPS) for the years 2018-2022, including data on GER-HR, poverty indicator, the number of higher education institutions, and expenditure per capita for each province. Additionally, data was sourced from DAAK-UT to obtain the number of Universitas Terbuka students for the years 2018-2022. Based on the results of the Fixed Effect Model (FEM) panel data regression with individual/cross section effects, the factors that influence the GER-HR value are the number of new UT students and per capita expenditure. The number of new UT students has a positive effect while per capita expenditure has a negative effect on GER-HE in Indonesia. Then for variables that have no effect are the number of universities, and per capita expenditure.
Mathematical literacy skills are students' ability to analyze mathematical problems. Based on the results of PISA (Program for International Student Assessment), the level of mathematical literacy of students in Indonesia is still low. One way to find out the level of students' mathematical literacy skills is to provide description test questions. In this study, researchers will provide mathematical literacy description test questions which are limited to five of the six PISA levels of mathematical literacy. This test will cover three main indicators of mathematical literacy, namely formulating, using concepts, facts and mathematical reasoning (employ), and interpreting and evaluating (interpret). This research aims to analyze the mathematical literacy abilities of junior high school students in Cilegon City. The method used in this research is Systematic Literature Review (SLR). The analysis was carried out by collecting data from articles and journals that were relevant to the topic of discussion, namely the mathematical literacy abilities of junior high school students.
This study aims to identify the factors influencing the academic achievement of mathematics education students at Nias University. The researcher employed the CHAID method to address this research problem. Data was collected through an online survey distributed to Mathematics Education students from the 2020 to 2023 cohorts who were in their second to eighth semesters. The analysis results indicate that both the type of residence and gender significantly influence students' academic achievement. The analysis revealed that students who chose to live in dormitories or with their parents significantly obtained higher Grade Point Averages (GPAs) compared to those who chose to live with guardians or in rented accommodations. The findings of this study can be utilized to design more effective intervention programs to enhance students' academic achievement, particularly for those who choose specific types of residence. A deeper understanding of the factors influencing academic achievement is expected to serve as a foundation for efforts to improve the quality of education at Nias University..
This study aims to analyze the stability of the Vector Autoregression (VAR) model using data on inflation and Bank Indonesia (BI) interest rates. The VAR model is a widely used econometric method for analyzing dynamic relationships between macroeconomic variables. In this research, monthly data on inflation and BI interest rates from August 2018 to August 2024 were utilized. The stability of the model was tested after performing a unit root test to assess data stationarity, followed by a stability test on the VAR model. The stability analysis of the VAR model is important to ensure that the resulting model can provide accurate predictions and is not divergent. If the model is not divergent, the predicted values remain controlled or bounded, indicating that the model is suitable for long-term use. The results show that in the unit root test, inflation data became stationary at the 2nd difference, while the BI interest rate data became stationary at the 1st difference. The stationary data were then used to build the VAR model, which was subsequently tested for stability. The stability test results, as seen from the AR Roots Table or AR Roots Graph, indicate that the VAR model is stable. Thus, the VAR model developed using these two variables satisfies the stability criteria, indicating that it can serve as a dependable tool for forecasting the dynamics between inflation and BI interest rates moving forward.
Health insurance is insurance that provides health benefits in the form of cash compensation for medical and treatment costs. One of the health insurance products is Long Term Care (LTC) insurance. Long Term Care insurance provides compensation for the insured who requires medical care or for those suffering from chronic illnesses or physical disabilities that cannot be covered by other insurance. This study discusses the calculation of premiums for heart disease, including hypertension and diabetes, for the LTC insurance product Annuity as a Rider Benefit using a multi-state model application from the Markov Chain model. The multi-state model used includes healthy, sick, and deceased states, with the assumption that there is no transition from sick to healthy. The premium calculation is based on the Markov chain with a transition probability matrix using heart disease prevalence data in Sumatra Island in 2018. The case study in this research includes males and females aged 25, 35, and 45 years, with premium payment periods of 5, 10, and 15 years. The death benefit is IDR 500,000,000.00, the care benefit is IDR 100,000,000.00, and the interest rate is 6.25%. Based on age, the calculation of the annual net premium for Long Term Care insurance, the Annuity as a Rider Benefit product for heart disease in Sumatra Island, shows that men generally have higher premiums compared to women, with a range of 0.9598 to 1.0028 times. Meanwhile, based on the premium payment period, men also have higher premiums than women.
The purpose of this research is to reanalyze the influence of the learning model in an effort to improve the ability to understand mathematical concepts. After that, the analysis results are combined and a conclusion about the overall problem is obtained. The method in this research is the Systematic Literature Review (SLR). This research seeks, observes, evaluates, and describes the available research based on relevant phenomena and specific research questions. The SLR method reviews and identifies journals according to the established procedures. Data collection comes from journals indexed by Sinta and Google Scholar over the past 6 years. The keywords for the search are "Understanding Concept Mathematics Ability" and "Learning Model." From the search, 23 articles that meet the criteria were obtained. The obtained data set was then analyzed as research findings using qualitative and quantitative analysis. Based on the results and discussion, it was found that students' ability to understand concepts can be influenced by the application of learning models.
The stacking method is an ensemble technique in machine learning that combines predictions from several base models to improve classification accuracy. This research applies the stacking method with two machine learning algorithms, namely Random Forest and Support Vector Machine (SVM) as base learners and logistic regression as a meta learner. This study aims to develop a classification model to identify households based on the food poverty line in West Java Province. The data used is KOR and household data in West Java Province sourced from the 2023 BPS National Socio-Economic Survey (Susenas). The variables used consisted of 24 independent variables with food poverty level as the response variable. Modeling was conducted using feature selection using Recursive Feature Elimination (RFE) and class imbalance handling using the ADASYN method. The results showed that the stacking model was superior to the single model with a balance accuracy of 0.81, sensitivity of 0.72, and specificity of 0.89. Feature importance analysis identified that calorie consumption, expenditure on cigarettes, meat and fruits, and expenditure on rice, eggs and other commodities contributed the most to the classification households based on the food poverty line in West Java Province.
Oil price movements are highly volatile and tend to be influenced over extended periods, often displaying long memory effect. This study utilizes the Autoregressive Fractionally Integrated Moving Average (ARFIMA) model, a long memory model, to analyze and forecast crude oil prices using monthly Brent data from November 1998 to November 2023. The analysis confirms the presence of long memory in the Brent crude oil price data. The ARFIMA model is then developed by estimating the parameter using the Rescaled Range Statistics (R/S) method. The best model is selected based on the lowest AIC and BIC values. The results indicate that the optimal ARFIMA model closely aligns with the actual data patterns, demonstrating its effectiveness in capturing the movements of Brent crude oil prices.
The purpose of this research is to analyze sentiment on social media X regarding the 2024 Presidential Election by testing data using k-fold cross validation. The data used in this study are tweets about the 2024 Presidential Election on social media X, obtained through data crawling techniques. Sentiment analysis is the process of identifying and classifying opinions, which are in text form into positive or negative sentiments. Classification methods are used to group these sentiments. One of the classification methods used in this study is the Naive Bayes Classifier (NBC). The accuracy of this NBC method is measured using k-fold cross-validation, with k = 10. The value of k = 10 was chosen for this study because it is considered to provide more stable and robust accuracy results. Based on the measurements conducted, it was found that the highest accuracy value occurred in the 10th fold, which was 92.06%. The average accuracy across all folds for the NBC method was 82.33%. This indicates that the Naive Bayes Classifier (NBC) method can classify public sentiment towards the 2024 Presidential Election with a relatively high level of accuracy.
This study aimed to determine the effect of the Project Based Learning model assisted by Student Worksheets (LKPD) on the mathematical literacy skills of tenth-grade students at SMK Negeri 7 Rejang Lebong. The research method used in this study was a quantitative approach. The sampling technique used was purposive sampling. The research design used was a post-test-only control group design. In this study, the requirement was that both classes were homogeneous based on the number of students and the average grades of the odd semester final assessment for the 2023/2024 school year at SMK Negeri 7 Rejang Lebong. The test was conducted on statistics material, specifically the measures of central tendency of grouped data. The data collection technique was carried out through tests by providing a test instrument consisting of a set of questions. The test was given in the form of an essay. After conducting validity tests, reliability tests, discrimination index tests, and difficulty index tests, it would be determined whether the question items could be used, used but revised first, or not used. In this study, the t-test was used as the hypothesis test.
