The phenomenon of hustle culture has become a significant issue due to its potential impact on workplace well-being, particularly among Generation Z employees in urban work environments who face high work demands and competitive pressures. This study aims to examine potential disparities in workplace well-being based on demographic characteristics, including gender, age, and educational background, among Generation Z employees in DKI Jakarta. A quantitative approach was employed using a descriptive-comparative design with convenience sampling, involving 762 participants. Data were collected using the Workplace Well-being Questionnaire and analysed using independent samples t-tests and one-way ANOVA. Descriptive results indicated that the overall level of workplace well-being was high (M = 3.41). The results showed no significant differences based on gender (p = 0.982) and age (F = 0.644, p = 0.526), but a significant difference was found based on educational background (F = 8.045, p < 0.001). These findings highlight the importance of educational background as a contextual factor in shaping workplace well-being and provide valuable insights for organisations to develop targeted strategies for supporting Generation Z employees.
Senior students often face stress while writing their theses, which can potentially lead to psychological distress. One dispositional factor believed to play a role is perfectionism, with self-esteem serving as the psychological mechanism that explains this relationship. This study aims to examine the role of self-esteem as a mediator in the relationship between perfectionism and distress. The study employed a quantitative approach with 361 participants. Measurements were taken using the DASS-21, the Rosenberg Self-Esteem Scale (RSES), and the MPCI-E, and the data were analyzed using mediation analysis. The results showed that perfectionism was positively associated with distress (r = 0.435; p < .001) and negatively associated with self-esteem (r = -0.238; p < .001), while self-esteem was negatively associated with distress (r = -0.539; p < .001). Self-esteem was found to partially mediate the relationship between perfectionism and distress (B = 0.193; p < .001). These findings underscore the importance of self-esteem in explaining the contribution of perfectionism to psychological distress.
Human resources have an important role in maintaining organizational performance, especially in the competitive retail industry such as PT Ramayana Lestari Sentosa Tbk. High job demands, including workload and daily performance targets, have the potential to increase the risk of burnout in employees. This study aims to test the relationship between job demand and burnout, with the hypothesis that the higher the job demand, the higher the level of burnout experienced by employees. This study uses a quantitative method with Pearson correlation analysis. The results showed a significant positive relationship between job demand and burnout (r = 0.756; p = 0.000). In addition, the determination coefficient shows that job demand contributes 57.1% to burnout. These findings confirm the importance of managing work demands effectively to prevent burnout and support employee well-being and organizational sustainability.
This study examined the relationship between self-resilience and perceived stress among Generation Z in Semarang City. A quantitative correlational design with a cross-sectional survey approach was employed. The study involved 70 Generation Z participants who lived, studied, or worked in Semarang City. Self-resilience was measured using the Connor-Davidson Resilience Scale 25 (CD-RISC 25), while perceived stress was assessed using the Perceived Stress Scale 10 (PSS-10). Data were analyzed using SPSS 26 through descriptive statistics, validity and reliability tests, normality testing, and Pearson product-moment correlation. The results showed a significant negative relationship between self-resilience and perceived stress (r = -0.630; p = 0.000), indicating that higher self-resilience was associated with lower perceived stress. These findings suggest that self-resilience is an important psychological resource for helping Generation Z cope with academic, occupational, social, and urban life pressures.

A sample of 103 hijab-wearing female adolescents aged 18 to 21 years was selected through purposive sampling and analyzed using Pearson’s correlation test. The analysis showed a positive and significant relationship between body image and psychological well-being among hijab-wearing adolescents (r = 0.571; p < 0.001). These results indicated that a more positive body image is associated with higher psychological well-being in this population. This study emphasizes the importance of developing a positive body perception among hijab-wearing adolescent girls in order to achieve optimal psychological well-being.
Exposure to adverse childhood experiences (ACEs) has long-term consequences persisting into the transition to motherhood. Approximately 58.1% of Indonesian mothers in this sample reported at least one ACE. These traumatic experiences may affect the formation of secure attachment within the mother–child relationship and increase the likelihood of negative outcomes in children’s development. This research aims to examine the association between maternal ACEs and the quality of mother-child attachment, operationalized through the dimensions of closeness and conflict. A quantitative approach with purposive sampling technique was used in this study. A total of 215 mother–child dyads were involved. Spearman’s rank correlation was conducted for hypothesis testing. Results showed that maternal ACEs were negatively correlated with closeness (ρ = −0.217, p = 0.001) and positively correlated with conflict (ρ = 0.311, p < 0.001). The findings indicate that higher exposure to ACEs is associated with lower emotional closeness and higher conflict in the mother–child relationship. This underscores the importance of considering maternal ACEs in understanding attachment quality and may suggest the potential role of protective factors in mitigating the effects of adversity.
This study aims to analyze the influence of work-life balance and meaningful work on intention to stay, with career adaptability as a mediating variable. The study used a quantitative approach with a survey method of 250 service sector employees in Indonesia. The data analysis technique used Structural Equation Modeling–Partial Least Squares (SEM-PLS). The results showed that work-life balance and meaningful work had a positive and significant effect on career adaptability and intention to stay. β = 0.25 (WLB → ITS) β = 0.30 (MW → ITS) β = 0.40 (WLB → CA) β = 0.35 (MW → CA) In addition, career adaptability also has a significant effect on intention to stay β = 0.28 CA → ITS and it is proven that career adaptability mediates work-life balance on intention to stay β indirect = 0.40 × 0.28 = 0.112 (WLB → CA → ITS) and meaningful work on intention to stay β indirect = 0.35 × 0.28 = 0.098 MW → CA → ITS The coefficient of determination (R² = 0.71) shows that the model has strong explanatory power, while the predictive relevance value (Q² > 0) indicates the model has good predictive ability. This finding confirms that work-life balance and job meaning are important factors in increasing employee retention by strengthening career adaptability.
Lecturer depression represents an emerging occupational mental health concern within higher education institutions. Although several reports indicate the presence of psychological distress among academic staff in Indonesia, empirical accounts describing how lecturers experience and interpret depression within their professional and personal contexts remain limited. This study aimed to explore the lived experiences of lecturers experiencing depression in relation to psychological well-being, the work environment, and work–life balance. A qualitative approach was employed using in-depth interviews with seven lecturers who reported depressive experiences. Participants were recruited through purposive sampling with a maximum-variation strategy to capture diverse perspectives. Data were collected through semi-structured interviews and analyzed using thematic analysis to identify recurring patterns across participants’ narratives. The analysis generated three overarching themes: internal factors reflecting personal vulnerability and emotional responses; job-related factors associated with academic workload, organizational dynamics, and workplace relationships; and work–life imbalance describing difficulties in maintaining boundaries between professional responsibilities and personal life. These themes indicate that lecturer depression is shaped by the interaction between individual psychological conditions and structural features of the academic work environment. The findings suggest that institutional responses to lecturer mental health should not be limited to individual-level interventions but also address organizational practices that influence workload, social support, and work–life boundaries.
Mental health remains a critical priority, as individuals with good mental well-being tend to experience a higher quality of life. However, mental health issues such as depression, anxiety, and psychological distress are increasingly prevalent among university students. One contributing factor to these issues is the excessive use of social media, driven by rapid technological advancements. This study aims to empirically examine the relationship between social media addiction and mental health among university students. A quantitative approach was employed, with the population consisting of students from University X. The sampling technique used was purposive sampling, involving a total of 111 students. Data were analyzed using Pearson’s product-moment correlation to test the research hypothesis. The results indicated a significant negative relationship between social media addiction and students’ mental health (r = -0.407; p < 0.01). These findings suggest that the higher the level of social media addiction, the lower the level of mental health among students, and vice versa.
This study aims to examine the relationship between religiosity and self-esteem with premarital sex behavior among Gen-Z in Yogyakarta. The study involved 100 respondents with the characteristics of being university students aged 17-24 years, residing in Yogyakarta, and having a tendency toward casual sex behavior. The sampling technique used was Accidental Sampling. The data analysis technique applied in this study was multiple linear regression. The results showed that casual sex behavior is significantly influenced by religiosity and self-esteem (p=0.029<0.05). However, religiosity alone does not have a significant relationship with casual sex behavior (p=0.078>0.05), while self-esteem has a significant relationship with casual sex behavior (p=0.012<0.05). Based on these findings, it is crucial to internalize religious values among Gen-Z. Additionally, building healthy self-esteem should be positively directed through character education that emphasizes self-achievement, thereby reducing the tendency toward casual sex behavior among Gen-Z.
Autism is not only a deficit in communication and behavior, but it also experiences limitations of self-care. This can form the ability for self-care, especially in children with ASD.
The success of an organization hinges on the importance of alocating the right resources to it. Organizations are expected to pay attention to the suitability between employees and their work through individual assessments with psychological examinations. In addition to looking at the suitability of employees' potential or competencies with the demands of their jobs, organizations should also measure the suitability of employees' career interests with the choice of employees' job aspirations using Holland's RIASEC test. The research in the form of the application of individual assessment of career development was carried out on subjects who felt bored or were not suitable for their current job. Data analysis uses descriptive qualitative methods. The results of the study show that the potential or competence of the subject is in accordance with their work, so they are expected to be able to perform optimally at work. However, the subject's career interests do not match his career aspirations or the job he wants, so it is expected that individuals can develop their career interests in other activities, as well as the organization can take other development steps, such as work rotation.
Generation Z is known as the group most familiar with technology, making them more susceptible to using paylater services. Self-control and hedonistic tendencies are assumed to play a role in influencing their financial management behavior. Doom spending is often conceptualized as a form of mental problem wherein individuals seek temporary relief or satisfaction through impulsive consumption in response to mental distress. This study examines the phenomenon of doom spending within the framework of mental health and Islamic ethical teachings. Employing a qualitative approach, this research adopts a descriptive-analytical method based on a comprehensive literature review of prior studies encompassing psychological, sociocultural, and religious perspectives. Thematic analysis is utilized to identify meaning patterns and explore the correlation between consumptive behavior and Islamic ethical principles. Findings indicate that doom spending not only undermines an individual's financial stability but also aggravates psychological well-being. Islamic teachings emphasize the importance of self-restraint, gratitude (shukr), and detachment from material excess (zuhd). Islam advocates for the pursuit of inner tranquility through worship, self-reflection (muḥāsabah), and responsible financial conduct—reminding individuals that lasting happiness does not stem from fulfilling excessive worldly desires but from spiritual contentment and ethical living.
All human activities are geared towards making life more meaningful, and the desire to improve the quality of life has been taken as a fundamental and universal human drive. Studies that investigated quality of life using different predictors have produced varying results. Therefore, the objective of this study was to examine the predictive ability of perceived social support and health-seeking behavior on quality of life among the adult population in Port Harcourt. The implication of this finding is a wake-up call to public health professionals, community stakeholders, and urban healthcare development authorities to provide social support through empowerment programs and create centers where individuals can access information on health-seeking behavior, thereby improving their quality of life.
Not many studies have examined differences in anxiety in facing the world of work based on gender, specifically in vocational students. Previous research has conducted several studies on anxiety in vocational students. The purpose of this study is to determine the differences in the level of anxiety of vocational students towards the world of work based on their gender. The number of samples in this study was 233 students, of which 173 were male and 60 were female. This study uses a descriptive quantitative approach, with a disproportionate stratified random sampling technique and anxiety scale used to collect data. Data processing in this study uses a normality test and homogeneity test, and data analysis using a T-test by applying IBM SPSS Statistics software version 25. The results of data analysis in the T-test show a significance level value of .737(>.05), which means that there is no difference in the level of anxiety in vocational school students in facing the world of work based on gender, which means H0 is accepted, and H1 is rejected. The results of our study indicate that gender-based anxiety in the world of work in men emphasizes the abilities they have while women emphasize feelings.
Ghost stories are part of the culture that plays a role in shaping adolescents' understanding and perception of the immaterial world. However, culture and the role of digital media can also influence adolescents' understanding and perception. This study aims to determine the perception of ghosts in adolescents and understand the subjective experiences of late adolescents (aged 17–19 years) in forming these perceptions. This study employed a qualitative approach with a phenomenological method with Interpretative Phenomenological Analysis data analysis. Subjects were selected purposively. The data collection process involved in-depth interviews. The results of the study show that adolescents' perceptions of ghosts are complex and influenced by several factors, namely culture, social media, religion, social narratives, and individual experiences. These results indicate that understanding the dynamics of the formation of adolescents' perceptions of metaphysical phenomena in the digital era is very important. This has an impact on developmental and educational psychology, especially in helping adolescents understand and manage their emotions, imagination, and the way they think about supernatural stories.
