The NA62 experiment at CERN reports new results from studies of radiative kaon decays ($Ke3\gamma$) $K^+ \rightarrow \pi^0 e^+ \nu \gamma$, using a data sample %recorded collected in 2017-2018. The sample comprises O(100k) Ke3g candidates with sub-percent background contaminations. Preliminary results including the most precise measurement of the $Ke3\gamma$ branching ratios and the T-asymmetry measurement in the $Ke3\gamma$ decay, are presented.
We investigate new symmetries which decouple the mass from the magnetic moment of neutrinos and their theoretical and phenomenological implications are discussed.Our proposed model is based on (2) horizontal symmetry that can generate large neutrino transition magnetic moment without inducing unacceptably large neutrino masses.In the (2) symmetric limit, the transition magnetic moment is nonzero, while the neutrino mass vanishes.The simplification we suggest is based on the symmetry being approximate, which we also generalize to a three-family (3) -symmetry.We have also investigated a spin symmetry mechanism that can generate large while keeping small.This talk is based on results obtained with K.S.
A study of the panchromatic properties of radio sources makes it possible to research the evolution of active galactic nuclei and their relationship with the environment. The study was made of a complete sample of radio sources in terms of flux density from surveys of the "Cold Experiment", carried out on the RATAN-600 radio telescope at a frequency of 3.94 GHz in 1980–2000. We have found hosts for 95\% of these radio sources. According to the radio luminosity estimates, most of the sources are powerful FRII type radio sources. Based on photometric data and color indices among the hosts we have identified groups of quasars, early-type galaxies, and late-type galaxies. Additionally, the late-type galaxies are subdivided into a smaller group with a relatively low radio loudness index and a larger group with a high index. Depending on the radio luminosity, the sources were divided into groups. In each group, the median of the ratio of the absolute magnitude to the radio luminosity was calculated, and the number of quasars and the number of galaxies were also calculated. Correlations are found whose behavior can be explained by a change in the screening properties of the torus. As the radio luminosity increases, the shielding properties of the torus decrease. Long-term variability was found with varying degrees of confidence in 18\% of the radio sources. The hosts of these sources with magnitude R$\leq$18$^m$ exhibit variability in the optical range as well. According to the multi-frequency maps of the Planck mission, for 70\% of the sources of the RCR catalog, at a level $\lesssim$4$\sigma$, a positive signal was found at least at one frequency. The spectral studies confirm the connection of these positive spots with the radio sources. To search for the Sunyaev-Zel'dovich (SZ) effect, the studies of the properties of "hot" and "cold" spots near sources were carried out. 16\% of the radio sources have signs of the SZ-effect at level $\lesssim$4$\sigma$. One fifth of them are in the catalogs of galaxy clusters, which confirms the applicability of our technique for searching for the effect in faint sources.
A question about the origin of a pulsar-like white dwarf in the low-mass binary system AR Scorpii is discussed. In our consideration we follow the accretion-driven spin-up scenario previously developed to explain the origin of a strongly magnetized fast rotating white dwarf in AE Aquarii. We find that the origin of AR Scorpii can be explained within this scenario provided the surface magnetic field of the white dwarf during the spin-up epoch was screened by the accreting matter by a factor of 50-100. This finding suggests that the fast rotating strongly magnetized white dwarfs in both systems were formed by a common mechanism.
The RadioAstron is the international project of a ground-space VLBI at the wavelengths of 92, 18, 6.2 and 1.35 cm. The SRT has a paraboloid antenna with diameter 10 m. It had been launched on 18 July 2011 and worked in the flight up to 10 Janury 2019 together with many ground radio telescopes. The base of the VLBI was up to 250 000 km. The results of mass processing of radiometric observations on the RadioAstron Space Radio Telescope (SRT) data are presented. A new complex for automated processing of calibration sessions of SRT in the single telescope mode has been designed. The main and backup noise signal generators as secondary calibration standards in the wavelength ranges of 6.2, 18 and 92 cm in calibration sessions for 4 years of SRT flight in 2015–2019 are calibrated relative to the known primary flux density standard sources - Cassiopeia-A (Cas A) and the Crab Nebula (Crab). Calibration was carried out using the 1977 generally accepted spectral flux density scale. One of the most important and unexpected results of processing is the detection of a discrepancy of 25–35% between the noise generators calibrations relative to Crab and Cas A. The analysis showed that the reason for this discrepancy is the real long-term variability of Cas A and Crab, which does not correspond to known the extrapolated flux densities in the standard scale of 1977. The transition from the generally accepted flux density scale of 1977 to the new corrected scales of 2017 and of 2014 eliminates the discrepancy found. Based on the analysis above the report proposes a new method for verifying astronomical spectral flux density calibrators. A noise generator of a telescope is used as an indicator. The SRT calibration example is extended to most ground-based radio telescopes, including, possibly, the RATAN-600 also.
We introduce a study of the depths and widths of Balmer absorption lines in low resolution ( Δ 𝜆 / 𝜆 ∼ 1000) integrated light (IL) spectra of globular clusters (GCs) depending on the following parameters: age, metallicity (Z) and helium mass fraction (Y). The parameters of stellar atmospheres used to calculate synthetic IL spectra of GCs are set by theoretical isochrones of stellar evolution. As the age increases, the luminosities and effective temperatures of the Main sequence turnoff stars decrease. The analysis of low resolution spectra demonstrates that the depths and widths of the Balmer absorption lines H 𝛿 , H 𝛾 and H 𝛽 in IL spectra of GCs decrease accordingly. On the other hand, as the contribution of hot blue horizontal branch (HB) stars in IL spectra becomes more and more significant, the depths and widths of hydrogen lines increase. These changes are non-monotonic. In this paper we explore characteristics of these changes in spectra of GCs with Z=0.002. Our study contributes to the progress of the research on the properties of HB stars, the contribution of their radiation to IL spectra of GCs and the accuracy of determination of ages and Y for GCs in galaxies.
The present study is devoted to the quasi-periodic pulsations (QPPs) in the chromospheric emission of solar flares that are often observed during these phenomena. We analysed the chromospheric emission of an M4.5-class flare (SOL2015-10-01) obtained with the Horizontal-Sonnen-Forschungs-Anlage spectrograph (HSFA-2) at the Ondřejov Observatory of the Czech Academy of Sciences. We also used X-ray time profiles obtained with the Ramati High Energy Solar Spectroscope Imager (RHESSI) and observations in the microwave range obtained with the radio telescope RT3 at 3.0 GHz (Ondřejov Observatory) to test the reliability of the detected chromospheric QPP periods. The processing and analysis of the spectra in the CaII H, Hβ, Hα, and CaII IR 8542 Å lines and the time profiles of the X-ray and microwave emission revealed the presence of oscillation periods in the range of 1–2 minutes.
Type Ia Supernovae (SNe Ia) are known to be good distance indicators in the Universe. It becomes possible thanks to the empirical relation between SN light curve parameters and luminosity. However, the Hubble diagram still shows some remaining intrinsic dispersion, which can be related to the effect of supernova environment. In this work we study how the host galaxy morphology affects SN Ia standardization and cosmological analysis using 330 supernovae from Pantheon cosmological sample. We reproduce the Pantheon Hubble diagram fit and perform the fit separately for two SN groups according to the morphological type of their host galaxies: early-type and late-type. We found that in passive stellar environment SNe Ia have higher $\alpha$ and smaller $\beta$ standardization parameters than supernovae hosted by late-type galaxies. The early-type galaxies contain brighter supernovae after stretch and colour corrections. Thus, the host morphology correction do affect the Hubble diagram fit. We also noticed that the host mass correction alone was not enough to take the influence of the environment into account. The observed intrinsic scatter in SNe Ia luminosity can still be partially compensated by a more correct consideration of the environmental correction.
We present a solution for the problem of the discrepancy in the measured trigonometric parallaxes for the stellar binary system HIP 84092. To solve the discrepancy, we used the orbital parameters and our method for analyzing binary and multiple stellar systems (BMSSs)s, described by \mbox{Al-Wardat} in 2002. We used all the available parallax measurements from Gaia DR3, DR2 and Hipparcos-2 in estimating the fundamental parameters of the individual components of the system. Such measurements are usually affected by the orbital motion of the components and the shift of the system photocenter. The masses estimated using the Al-Wardat method along with the modified orbital elements lead to a new dynamical parallax for the system $\pi_{Dyn}=8.24\pm0.15$~mas, which lies in between the measurements of Hipparcos-2 ($8.29 \pm 0.97$ mas) and Gaia DR3 ($8.4806 \pm 0.4863$ mas), while the parallax from Gaia DR2 ($20.0561 \pm 1.1615$ mas) is far from being accurate. This can be explained by the fact that the Gaia telescope has a higher resolution than that of Hipparcos. Based on the fundamental parameters of the binary system components and their positions on the evolutionary tracks, we conclude that the system consists of A7.5 and F1 solar-metalicity main-sequence stars with an age of 0.708 Gyr. Fragmentation is proposed as the most likely scenario for the formation and evolution of the system.
Objects with ultra-steep spectra (USS) are the main indicator in the search for distant radio galaxies. A study of an updated sample of 73 objects with ultra-steep spectra (spectral indices α ≤ -1.1, Sν ~ ν α) from the the central section ± 2′ of the RATAN-600 Zenith Field deep survey (RZF, 40°.5 ≤ Dec ≤ 42°.5) in the centimeter wavelength range (λ = 7.6 cm) is presented. The considered sample of USS sources turned out to be rather weak: the median flux densities S3.94 = 6.8 mJy and S1.4 = 34.5 mJy at 3.94 GHz and 1.4 GHz respectively. For 31 radio sources photometric redshifts (zph) were determined and optical identifications were carried out using the SDSS (DR7, DR12). Twenty-three objects turned out to be galaxies, and 8 are star-forming objects. The radio luminosity of the considered sources at a frequency of 1.4 GHz varies in the range of 1.51 × 1024 ≤ L1.4 ≤ 5.17 × 1027 W/Hz, with median L1.4 ≈ 4.25 × 1026 W/Hz. Fifteen galaxies, judging by their radio luminosities L1.4 > 1026 W/Hz, belong to the FR II type, 6 objects are mixed objects of the FR I − FR II types. Two galaxies with L1.4 < 1025 W/Hz and zph < 0.5 turned out to be rare nearby galaxies of the FR I type. Nearly all these sources can be observed with the SAO 6-m telescope. The galaxies with L 1.4 ≥ 1026 W/Hz (FR II) have r magnitudes in the range 18 ≤ mr ≤ 23. According to their activity indices, all but one of the objects are active (Rr > 1) with the main contribution to their integrated radio emission coming from an active nucleus.
