
Rectangular digital mazes can be constructed by algorithms automatically. However, visual aesthetics such as the shapes and structures of mazes can’t be created gracefully due to the mechanic characteristics of algorithms. This study proposed a method to combine the maze generation algorithm and the graph patterns designed by designers, in order to make mazes can be constructed not only automatically but also creatively.
Sign language is used for communication between deaf persons while Sinhalese language is used by normal hearing persons whose first language is Sinhalese in Sri Lanka. This research focuses on an approach for a real-time translation from Sri Lankan sign language to Sinhalese language which will bridge the communication gap between deaf and ordinary communities. This study further focuses on a novel methodology of enabling distance communication between deaf and ordinary persons. Once the sign based gestures captured by depth sensing camera, series of feature extraction techniques will be used to identify essential attributes in gesture frame. Identified feature frame will be compared with pre-trained gesture dictionary based on classification techniques, in order to identify gesture based word. Detected word will be displayed for ordinary user or could be used for communication between two individuals in two different geographic locations. Proposed prototype has provided an overall recognition rate of 94.2% for a dictionary of fifteen signs in Sri Lankan sign language.
Text classification is a very important area in information retrieval. Text classification techniques used to classify documents into a set of predefined categories. There are several techniques and methods used to classify data and in fact there are many researches talks about English text classification. Unfortunately, few researches talks about Arabic text classification. This paper talks about three well-known techniques used to classify data. These three well-known techniques are applied on Arabic data set. A comparative study is made between these three techniques. Also this study used fixed number of documents for all categories of documents in training and testing phase. The result shows that the Support Vector machine gives the best results.
The purpose of this paper is to develop an approach to analyze organizational vulnerability caused by its employees. The proposed approach is adapted from general attack graph analysis approach and social network analysis approach. The attack graph, which is relationship graph in this proposed approach, is created from organization’s email logs and virus reports. The relationship graph is analyzed using shortest path analysis to discover all possible attack paths start from risky employees to target employee, and then grouped by path length for further actions based on security policy. The proposed approach was tested using datasets that are limited to only one month with assumption that weight on all edges are equal. This paper suggested further study to improve accuracy of the proposed approach using other mathematical methods such as shortest path analysis with weight or Markov Chains. The proposed approach could also be used by security audit in risk assessment process.
People constantly use social multimedia networks to communicate with one another, with users mostly sharing data, such as photos and videos. We examine the motivations that drive colluders to form alliances over social networking platforms and determine how these groups create coalitions to advance their interests. We also investigate the network architectures that underlie social multimedia networks and how these platforms circulate. Such architectures are connected to different protocols, including WebID, Semantic Pingback and PubSubHubbub, to form a logical semantic circulating social multimedia network that delivers a centralised social network structure.
Technology is developing quickly. Multimedia, a form of technology, is being used as a teaching tool these days. Many researchers and educators have found suitable ways to design multimedia applications in order to achieve fruitful educational outcomes. Not that all we are going to discuss here, the definition of multimedia, and the connection between multimedia and learning tools, concept of multimedia applications, how they are formed using a different media, the type of educational element that effect to learn in their natural environment and the real-world issues. The definitions and characteristics of multimedia and educational elements are explained in this article.
The European (EU)-based industry for non-leisure games (so called Applied Games, AGs) is an emerging business. As such it is still fragmented and needs to achieve critical mass to compete globally. Nevertheless, its growth potential is widely recognized and even suggested to exceed the growth potential of the leisure games market. The European project Realizing an Applied Gaming Ecosystem (RAGE) is aiming at supporting this challenge. RAGE will help to seize these opportunities by making available an interoperable set of advanced Applied Game (AG) technology assets, as well as proven practices of using such AG assets in various real-world contexts. As described in [1], RAGE will finally provide a centralized access to a wide range of applied gaming software modules, relevant information, knowledge and community services, and related scientific documents, taxonomies, media, and educational resources within an online community portal called the RAGE Ecosystem. Besides this, an integration between the RAGE Ecosystem and relevant social network interaction spaces that arranges and facilitates collaboration that underlie Research and Development (R&D), as well as marketoriented innovation and exploitation will be created in order to support community building, as well as collaborative asset exploitation of User Generated Contents (UGCs) of the RAGE Ecosystem. In this paper, we will describe the integration of the Scientific Publication Platform (SPP) Mendeley [2] into the RAGE Ecosystem. This will allow for automating repetitive tasks, reducing errors, and speeding up time consuming tasks. On the other hand it will support information, UGC, and knowledge sharing, as well as persistency of social interaction threads within Social Networking Sites (SNSs) and Groupware Systems (GWSs) that are connected to the RAGE Ecosystem. The paper reviews relevant use cases and scenarios, as well as related authentication, access, and information integration challenges. In this way, on the one hand a qualitative evaluation regarding an optimal technical integration is facilitated while on the other hand design approaches for supporting features of resulting user interfaces are initiated.
Due to the increasing demand on electronic payments, fraud methods are also increasing which has resulted in the loss of millions of dollars worldwide each year in the banking sector. Several studies have been conducted to counter against fraud in the banking domain and to come up with ways to secure online payments. None of these studies, however, have resulted in a comprehensive awareness program which targets customer banking. The purpose of this research is to propose an awareness program, Information Security Awareness Program, dubbed ISAP. We believe that such a program is needed for the following reasons: a) in order to enhance the level of trust in online banking, b) to protect each customer’s personal information and c) to comply with the online bank requirements. We have identified several online frauds, and then we recommended some best practices for online protection in the following areas: online shopping, online protection, password protection, operating system protection, identity theft protection, and debit/credit card protection.
WThe Virtual Machine (VM) technology has increased considerably within the last two decades and the performance of VMs seems closest to the host machine. This has motivated the use of VM in High Performance Computing (HPC). Running a scientific computation on VMs can severely impact the performance of applications. In addition, choosing the proper VM to run a specific application while minimizing the lost of performance is not an easy task. However, several virtualization solutions have been proposed. This paper presents the result of a comparison of the performance of the most commonly used VMs solutions: OpenVz, Linux-Vserver, LXC, XEN, KVM and VMware ESXi. The performance of these VMs are evaluated with the NAS benchmark, Lmbench, IOzone and Intel ® MPI Benchmark taking into account the consumption of resources such as CPU, memory, latency, disk and network communication. The result shows that some virtualization solutions present better performance in consumption of some of the previously mentioned resources than others. This work aims at helping a scientist in selecting the VM suitable to compute a specific task without a significant overhead on applications performance.
Webmail systems have being developed for different OS-based platforms. These OS-based systems present their own benefits and treats. Framework and white papers for developing these systems are available but there is no specific framework available for the implementation of such systems on Bare PC. Implementation of such systems on a Bare PC poses daunting challenges and innovative opportunities that are revolutionary in server designs. Building such systems for security could even be more challenging. Secure Webmail systems are complex, large and require intricate components to develop. As a result, a lean system was developed for this research. The lean concept also helps to build small protocol suite, intertwining of protocols, limited requirement space, simple user interfaces and minimal design options. The paper provides a detail framework for the design and implementation, experimental setup and the results of experiments conducted. Performance is evaluated by measuring the processing time, throughput, the CPU Utilization and load distribution. The results show that the performance of the Bare PC Webmail server is significantly better than that of the OS-based servers.
Researchers in the biotechnology field have accomplished many achievements in the past century. They can now measure expression levels for thousands of genes, testing different conditions over varying periods of time. The analysis of the measurement results is essential to understand gene patterns and extract information about their functions and their biological roles. This paper describes a novel approach for clustering large-scale next-generation sequences (NGS). It also facilitates the process of predicting patterns and the likelihood of mutations based on a semi-supervised clustering technique. The process is based on the previously developed construction of FuzzyFind Dictionary utilizing the Golay Code for error correction. The introduced method is exceptional; it has linear time complexity with one passage through the file.
Childhood obesity is becoming increasingly prolific and problematic. Contributors to childhood obesity include decreased levels of physical activity and increased sedentary behavior. Screen-based entertainment may be an important factor in the development of childhood obesity as children and adolescents prefer to spend time using electronic devices than exercising. While it is difficult to encourage children to cease playing video games, it is possible to change these passive screens to active ones. Information and Communication Technologies (ICTs) have been utilized by academics and researchers to promote levels of physical activity among young people. This paper is part of our continuous research into the use of technology in the facilitation and motivation of children to be more physically active. This paper presents the "MySteps " framework that has been developed to manage youth screen time and exercise performance statistics. By developing technology-based solutions, we intend to increase children and adolescents awareness of their levels of physical activity and screen time. Consequently, self-monitoring and management of screen time and physical activity levels may lead to more active living beginning at an early age and continuing throughout life.
Computer architects are always interested in analyzing the complex interactions amongst the dynamically allocated resources. Generally a detailed simulator with a cycle-accurate simulation of the execution time is used. However, the cycleaccurate simulator can execute at the rate of 100K instructions per second, divided over the number of simulated cores. This means that the evaluation of a complex application with complex concurrency interactions on contemporary multi-core machine can be very slow. To perform efficient design space exploration we present a co-simulation environment, where the detailed execution of concurrency instructions in the pipeline of microthreaded cores and the interactions amongst the hardware components are abstracted. We present the evaluation of the high-level simulation framework against the cycle-accurate simulation framework. The results show that high-level simulator is faster and less complicated than cycle-accurate simulator and has reasonable accuracy.

With cloud services, educators can take advantage of an interconnected world of many clouds to support individual learning needs, expand access to digital content, and innovative cloud services into an integrated architecture that helps educators deliver highly secure, cloud-based services simplify operations, and reduce costs. Implementing a cloud solution means bringing together computing, network, and storage resources into an integrated platform for delivering IT services within and between data canters. Cloud computing can help us to create a platform for delivering cloud services to teachers, administrators, and students, and can also assist us to connect with other clouds and automate management tasks. In this research work we are introducing our architecture of Cloud Computing for education and discuss the impact of our chosen architecture on learning. We are presenting here and demonstrating the advantages and impact analysis of our proposed architecture.
This paper present a study of signal processing in Blind Source Separation (BSS) application for medical field, especially during medical data recording. There are two main techniques that will be investigated; Natural Gradient Method (NGM) and Self-Organized Neural Network (SONN). The main source signals are Electrocardiograph (ECG), and Electroencephalograph (EEG) that linearly mixed with noise signal. This study related to doctor’s assistant for remote outpatient and their patients to communicate each other in separate places, as well as the doctor will be able to monitoring patient’s condition using a telephone/mobile phone that have been attached with an embedded system. Hopefully, while implementing BSS technique into an embedded system for signal processing application will increase the quality of medical outpatient system remotely. This investigation conclude that SONN provide about 80% effectively than NGM while separating mixed source signals of EEG, ECG, and noise Signal.
The paper presents a new algorithm for processing big data streams, which mimics the surmised physical design in the brain. The algorithm is very suitable for extracting prevalent information items, even at rather low frequencies of about several percents. The developing data driven process can be used to effectually realize various types of large-scale computational intelligence operations.

Therefore, in the paper authors tackle challenges of UI personalization on semantic level; and present a framework for adaptive UI development, driven by personal semantic user profile and mashup of reusable adaptive visualization modules. Considering human as a powerful integrated part of IoT environment, UI adaptation and personalization framework has been extended with automated ontology-based UI creation (Semantic Scanner concept). Presented approach of on-the-fly semantically-driven adaptive UI creation facilitates a process of human integration into machine-oriented infrastructure.

When music repository grows, people faced lots of challenges such as finding a song quickly, categorizing, organizing and even listening again when they want etc. Because of this, people tend to find electronic solutions. To index music, most of the researchers use content based information retrieval mechanism since content based classification doesn’t need any additional information rather than audio features embedded to it. As well as it is the most suitable way to search music, when user don’t know the meta data attached to it, like author of the song. The most valuable application of this audio recognition is copyright infringement detection. Throughout this survey we will present approaches which were proposed by various researchers to detect, recognize music using content base mechanisms. And finally we will conclude this by analyzing the current status of this era.
Cloud computing represents a connection of internet technologies and personal or business computing that is changing the way computing solutions are designed, delivered and managed. This model of computing where all data, application, are hosted over a network is a significant shift from the traditional model of computing where data, software’s resources are hosted on a local computer or the client server model of business computing where resources are hosted on the firms servers and requires specialist staff for implementing and maintaining IT services. For several organizations especially in the case of small and medium-sized enterprise (SME’s), the cloud is an attractive technology solution as it enables them to reduce the total cost of ownership of their IT by passing the demands of maintaining hardware and software to a third party i.e. a cloud service provider thus enabling them to focus their spend on growing the business while developing innovative services. This paper draws on the concept of cloud computing to illustrate the significance of cloud technology to small medium businesses in the UK tourism industry-an industry heavily dependent on the internet for its survival. The study was conducted through an extensive review of academic journals, publications, articles as well as industry white papers and reports. This paper reveals that cloud computing drives small tourism firms to become more customer focused while enabling them quickly respond to tourist needs.
It`s an obvious fact to claim, that the problem of stress has become a vital issue presently. One of the main root cause of this is the escalation of human desires and complexity of those. Most of those desires would be difficult to achieve or not practical at all. When the reality is so harsh, compared with the imaginations, it will incur for stress. More the gap between reality and the perceptions, stress will escalate. As results of people are running after unrealistic or difficult to achieve greener pastures, most of them will end up with becoming a victim of stress. Stress management is a difficult skill to be developed, but in current context, it has become an essential skill to have. This research is based on the concept of internal self-talk. Thought stream captured in-form of text stream will be segmented, according to the cognitive behavioral therapeutic approach. This is technically implemented via POS tagging of the Stanford NLP library. Afterwards machine learning approach is used to train the WEKA engine, according to the OCEAN model, which is a prominent psychological model. Predictions derived from the trained WEKA model, will be presented inform of a report with the help of itext reporting plugin. This report will be used by the psychologist, before providing the treatment to the patient/client. It`s assumed, that this tool will be a good aiding tool, which can reduce the cognitive effort of a consultant. Respective, problem, technical, executional and all important aspects are addressed in detail, within this paper along with required evidences.
