
The article presents the field study results on monitoring the radioecological status of the dumped nuclear submarine (NS) K-27, as well as the area of its dumping. It provides current data on the state of the NS hull and the radiation situation near the NS and on its hull, which can be used to predict the radiation situation at the dumping site.
The Subpolar and Northern Urals, which are part of the Arctic zone of the Russian Federation, remain the most undeveloped regions of the Khanty-Mansi Autonomous Area — Yugra. The development of mineral and energy resources in the territory is part of state programs for the socio-economic development of the Arctic. The article considers the existing and potential anthropogenic impacts on the geosystems of the study area. An approach to assess the stability of geosystems to anthropogenic impact is analyzed. An assessment scale and a matrix of the integral stability degree of geosystems for mountainous areas have been developed. The proposed comprehensive assessment system can help to justify economic activity in the region in order to preserve the environment.
The authors studied the effect of adding aquaculture sediments from fish farms to agricultural soils in the European north of Russia on the growth characteristics of leaf lettuce (Lactuca sativa L.) to determine the impact of sediment utilization on plants in agricultural fields. The study revealed no negative impact of aquaculture sediments on plant biomass accumulation, possibly due to the absence of toxic loads of heavy metals and metalloids. The sediments contributed to an increase in the relative growth rate of leaves, a parameter that is ecologically significant and important for plant productivity.
Based on an analysis of satellite imagery combined with the Normalized Difference Vegetation Index (NDVI), it was determined that the explosion of perennial gas-dynamic heaving mound C19 on the Yamal Peninsula occurred in period between September 24 and October 5, 2020. Its development monitoring using the ArcticDEM digital elevation model revealed that in the year preceding the explosion and formation of the crater C19 (2019—2020), extreme growth of the central and northern parts of the mound occurred with average annual rates of approximately 54 and 67 cm/year, which is 4.0-4.9 times higher than at the initial stage of monitoring in 2013—2016. In methodological terms, to improve the reliability of forecasting future explosions of potential gas-dynamic heaving mounds, it is recommended to conduct annual monitoring of their development during summer periods characterized by the most consistent phenological state of the vegetation.
The Palyangai gold field is located in the Chaunsky District of the Chukotka Autonomous Area (Arctic zone of Russia). It is located in the eastern exocontact of the Palyangai granodiorite intrusive massif and adjacent host contact-altered Upper Triassic sedimentary rocks. The article presents new data on the distribution of trace elements and REE in ores, the bulk composition of the ore-forming fluid, which made it possible to refine the mineralization prediction and exploration model and its economic potential. Based on these data, the Palyangai ore occurrence can be confidently classified as an intrusive granitoid-related gold deposit (IRGS). The reference object is the large Fort Knox gold deposit (Alaska, USA).
