The present article deals with the execution of technical collaboration between the Federal Institute of Science and Technology of Rio Grande do Sul and the Federal University of Pelotas, through the development of the project entitled "Management of Reserves: Acting of the course of Conservation and Restoration of the UFPel next to the Public and Private Institutions". Recognizing the importance of the scientific, technological and industrial heritage that constitutes the collections of higher education institutions and trying to delimit the possible actions of Conservation and Restoration in order to contribute to the construction of critical thinking and reflection of the academic community about the social role of collections of educational institutions, the project has in its scope the reorganization and development of a search tool in the form of database of the pieces deposited in the technical reserves of the Museum of Telecommunications and the Course of Conservation and Restoration that will serve as a model for access and socialization of these collections for other institutions. In the search for practices that link education (in a Freirean sense) with a critical reflection upon the past aimed at empowering citizens in shaping their future deliberately, this paper aims to explore the common ground between the fields of museology and urban planning reflecting upon trans-national and undisciplined intersections. After recalling the debate about trans-disciplinarity and undiscipline as an evolutionary tendency of academic (and non-academic) discourses emerging in various contexts and fields of knowledge, authors explore the concept and practices of insurgencies. The paper presents such emerging trends aimed at making some forms of museology more open to communities and, simultaneously, some forms of community-based planning processes anchored to a rediscovery of the past as a means for reimaging the future. Authors argue that bridging insurgent forms of urban planning and museologies may contribute to opening new forms and trajectories of emancipation, grounded on a multifaceted awareness of the past and an ethos of socio-ecological justice for the now. In Brazil, the institutionalization of the Museology field took place through the creation of Courses in the area – one in the Northeastern region, at Federal University of Bahia/UFBA and two in the Southeastern region, at Federal University of the State of Rio de Janeiro/UNIRIO and at Free School of Sociology Foundation of São Paulo/Fesp. This field, composed of disputing agents, will be investigated in this article through sociological analysis in order to, understanding how It works, congruently investigate the uses of the tools used by its agents between the decades of 1960 and 1980. Understanding the particular form this logic takes becomes especially necessary in the perception of the Brazilian Museology field formation, as an analytical category, since it is important to consider the symbolic power relations existent in this space during its formation. Professionals linked to each of the Schools problematized and developed, through specific epistemological statutes, practices and theoretical conceptions conveyed to technical museum work, as well as to Museology, and such perspectives reverberate in the field to this day.
