This research aims to comprehensively evaluate the strategic interrelationships between financial literacy and financial risk tolerance in determining the financial behavior, while incorporating emotional intelligence as a potential moderating variable. Adopting a robust Partial Least Square Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM) approach, this study analyzes a purposive sample of 190 students at Ciputra University to map the cognitive and psychological determinants of financial decision-making. The empirical results identify a distinct and sophisticated behavioral mechanism: financial literacy significantly enhances an individual’s financial risk tolerance, which subsequently serves as the primary catalyst for superior financial conduct and prudent money management. Notably, the evidence suggests a non-significant direct path from financial literacy to behavior, indicating that literacy does not independently dictate financial habits. Furthermore, the analysis reveals that emotional intelligence does not exert a significant moderating influence within this structural framework, suggesting that emotional regulation does not amplify the impact of literacy on behavioral outcomes in this demographic. Since financial risk tolerance is identified as a critical full mediator, these findings imply that the mere accumulation of financial knowledge is fundamentally insufficient to transform personal financial habits without a commensurate development in risk assessment capabilities. This study advocates that financial literacy programs in higher education institutions should evolve beyond theoretical instruction to prioritize the cultivation of practical risk management and mitigation skills. Strengthening this specific mediational pathway is vital for fostering rational, systematic, and adaptive financial decision-making among students as they navigate the multifaceted complexities and predatory risks of the contemporary digital economic landscape.
This study analyses the impact of cash and non-cash social assistance programmes on household consumption in 20 regencies and cities in West Java during the period 2020–2024. The research methodology utilised panel data regression, with the fixed-effects model selected as the optimal model. This study examines the effects of the Non-Cash Food Assistance (BPNT), the Family Hope Programme (PKH) and the national health insurance of Healthy Indonesia Card (JKN-KIS) on household consumption. The results show that BPNT has a positive and significant effect on household consumption, with a coefficient of 0.0854 (p=0.0000). JKN-KIS also has a positive and significant effect, with a coefficient of 0.0512 (p=0.0004). Meanwhile, PKH has a positive but non-significant effect, with a coefficient of 0.0043 (p=0.6785). These results indicate that increases in BPNT and JKN-KIS are associated with increases in household consumption expenditure, whilst the relationship between PKH and total consumption expenditure has not yet shown statistically significant evidence at the regency/city level during the study period. The research findings indicating that the PKH programme is not statistically significant in relation to total consumption may be linked to the nature of the PKH as a conditional cash transfer programme, which has different targets and utilisation mechanisms compared to the BPNT and JKN-KIS, as well as the possibility that the impact of the PKH is more evident in specific expenditure components in line with the programme’s objectives. Consequently, these findings suggest variations in the impact of different social assistance programmes on household consumption expenditure.
Original Income (PAD) growth, Economic Growth, Labor Force Participation Rate (TPAK), and Open Unemployment Rate (TPT) on the percentage of poor population in Barru Regency. The study used a quantitative approach with time series data for the period 2010–2025 obtained from the Central Statistics Agency (BPS) and the Directorate General of Fiscal Balance (DJPK). The data were analyzed using multiple linear regression processed with IBM SPSS Statistics. The results indicated that PAD growth had a positive and significant influence on the percentage of poor population. Economic growth and TPT had positive but insignificant influences, while TPAK had a negative and significant influence on the percentage of poor population in Barru Regency. Simultaneously, PAD growth, economic growth, TPAK, and TPT had a significant influence on the percentage of poor population. The coefficient of determination showed an Adjusted R² value of 67.9%, indicating that 67.9% of the variation in the percentage of poor population was explained by the four independent variables included in the model, while the remaining 32.1% was explained by other factors outside the model. These findings indicated that poverty in Barru Regency was influenced by interconnected economic and employment factors. Therefore, integrated and sustainable development policies were needed to improve community welfare and reduce poverty in Barru Regency.
