Hysteresis, tilt angle, spontaneous polarization and Electro-Clinic effect were investigated for SmC* exhibited by a liquid crystal dimer, viz., 11OBA:M*SA:ABO11 with chiral center on spacer moiety. Primary order parameter tilt angle theta(T) growth agreed with Critical field model prediction, while secondary order parameter spontaneous polarization growth P-s(T) agreed with Mean field predictions. Order parameter exponents inferred prevalence of pair-wise correlation for dipole stabilization of order director fluctuations regarding primary order parameter. Secondary order parameter critical exponent defended long range dipole ordering. The tilt order parameter growth and its moderate saturated value inferred a relatively small viewing angle for a device. Small hysteresis area indicated limited storage capacity. Comparable EC response identified in SmC* phase. Relatively large Electro-Clinic coefficient realized for higher fields at higher temperatures for its utility in devices. EC effect is compared with that reported other chiral SmC LC phases. Magnitude and trends of hysteresis, tilt angle and polarization are presented, discussed, analyzed and addressed in terms of interplay between P and parity. Integrated view inferred strong influence of spacer based chiral center in the LC dimer.
Dielectric and impedance spectroscopy (20 Hz-2 MHz) of Bridgman-grown In2Se2.Sb-7(0).(3) crystals reveals that Sb doping significantly alters electrical properties. Findings include strong low-frequency electrode polarisation, non-Debye relaxation, and conductivity transitioning from DC to correlated barrier hopping. The electric modulus formalism resolved two distinct grain and grain-boundary relaxation processes, which were not separable in the impedance data. These insights highlight Sb's role in modifying the polarisation dynamics and charge transport in In2Se3 for advanced optoelectronic applications.
Based on 0.655PMN-0.345PT piezoelectric ceramics, a novel piezoelectric vibration actuator was proposed. The model of the actuator was designed and fabricated by the manufacturing process. The grains of the PMN-PT ceramics were investigated by microstructure analyses. The performances of the proposed actuator were studied. The results showed that the actuator achieved a charge sensitivity of 65.9 pC/g at room temperature, a sensitivity deviation of 2.792% in the range of 10 Hz similar to 3000 Hz, a transversal sensitivity ratio of 0.7%. The highest sensitivity deviation of the actuator reached 0.088%, which meet the application requirements. Compared with the other three actuators on the market, the proposed actuator got a good performance.
