Lines 33-34 of Callimachus Aetia fr. 75 H are universally printed as gamma alpha mu beta rho & varsigma; rho iota sigma tau alpha omicron upsilon Zeta eta]nu & varsigma; phi' & varepsilon;rho omega nu / kappa mu omicron upsilon omicron sigma iota mu mu[eta]lambda & varepsilon;nu pi' omicron rho & varepsilon;omicron & varsigma; mu beta nu & varepsilon;sigma sigma iota nu. rho iota sigma tau alpha omicron upsilon Zeta eta]nu & varsigma; & mldr; kappa mu omicron upsilon is translated as "of Zeus Aristaeus the Icmian" vel sim., which attaches kappa mu omicron upsilon to Zeta eta]nu & varsigma; and makes kappa mu omicron upsilon a cult title of Zeus. I argue that this mode of printing and rendering the lines is incorrect and obscures Callimachus' etymologising and learning. In fact, Zeus' cult-title on Ceos was kappa mu alpha omicron & varsigma;, and i kappa mu omicron upsilon is a common adjective attached to omicron rho & varepsilon;omicron & varsigma;. Accordingly, line 34 should be printed: i kappa mu omicron upsilon omicron sigma iota mu mu[eta]lambda & varepsilon;nu pi' omicron rho & varepsilon;omicron & varsigma; mu beta nu & varepsilon;sigma sigma iota nu, and translated "they whose duty it is on the terraces of the moist mountain". mu beta nu & varepsilon;sigma sigma iota nu should be understood as a specific reference to the very prominent terraces of Ceos.
