Summary With the aim to evaluate the prevalence of latex allergy in healthcare workers, conducted was a questionnaire screening of 420 people who have professional contact with different products composed of or containing proteins of natural latex. An immunological study was carried out in 41 healthcare workers. An elevated Ig E level was found in 68,3% of health care workers, mostly in paramedical personnel. The results of this study need to be used for fu rther and more detailed evaluation of the peculiarities of the clinical course of allergic diseases caused by latex in order to establish and implement a complex of diagnostic and prophylactic measures.
