摘要
Intramedullary abscess is rare, there have been less than 100 cases reported in the literature (5; 12). The authors report one case of a 10-year- old boy having dorsal spinal cord compression for 06 weeks. Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) of the spinal cord showed a cystic tumour at the conus medullaris with capsular contrast enhancement. Inraoperatively, it was an aspect of intramedullary abscess which was evacuated, and the patient had been treated with antibiotic therapy. Clinical evolution was favourable. The epidemiology, diagnosis and therapeutics problems of this affection are discussed.
