NOVELTY - A chimeric or fusion protein for inducing an immune response to Porphyromonas gingivalis, comprising protein including first peptide joined directly or through a linker to a second peptide, is new.
USE - The chimeric or fusion protein and its polunucleotide, antibody are useful in production of medicament for preventing or treating incidence or severity of a P.gingivalis, for diagnosing or monitoring P.gingivalis related condition or disease in a subject, and for detecting P.gingivalis antibodies in a biological sample (all claimed).
DETAILED DESCRIPTION - A chimeric or fusion protein for inducing an immune response to Porphyromonas gingivalis and comprising protein including first peptide joined directly or through a linker to a second peptide, is new. The first peptide includes (a) amino acid sequence or its portion identical or homologous to a sequence having a defined sequence of 37 amino acids (SEQ ID NO: 1) given in the specification, (b) amino acid sequence or its portion identical or homologous to a sequence having a defined sequence of 37 amino acids (SEQ ID NO: 2) given in the specification, and the second peptide includes (a) amino acid sequence or its portion identical or homologous to a sequence of adhesin domain of Lys-X-proteinase of P.gingivalis, (b) amino acid sequence or its portion identical or homologous to a sequence of Arg-X-proteinase of P.gingivalis, or (c) amino acid sequence or its portion identical or homologous to a sequence of HagA adhesin domain of P.gingivalis. INDEPENDENT CLAIMS are included for the following: (1) composition comprising a chimeric or fusion protein; (2) antibody raised against a chimeric or fusion protein; (3) nucleic acid molecule including a sequence encoding chimeric or fusion protein; (4) vector comprising the above-mentioned nucleic acid; (5) prokaryotic or eukaryotic cell comprising the above-mentioned nucleic acid or vector; (6) peptide (P1) for inducing an immune response to P.gingivalis, comprising the sequence that is identical or homologous to the sequence chosen from sequence of SEQ ID NO: 64-66, and sequence that is identical or homologous to sequence of SEQ ID NO: 67 or 68, and sequence of SEQ ID NO: 17, 18, 25 and 26; and (7) nucleic acid encoding a peptide (P1). The sequences include Thr-Ala-Trp-Ala-Asp-Pro-Leu (SEQ ID NO: 17), Thr-Ser-Trp-Ala-Asp-Pro-Leu (SEQ ID NO: 18), Thr-Ala-Trp-Ala-Asp-Pro-Leu-Leu (SEQ ID NO: 25), Thr-Ser-Trp-Ala-Asp-Pro-Leu-Leu (SEQ ID NO: 26), Asp-(Ser/Tyr)-(Tyr/Ser)-Trp-Asn-(Pro/Ser)-(Lys/Gln)-(Ile-Val) (SEQ ID NO: 64), Asn-Ser-Tyr-Trp-Gly-Glu-Asp (SEQ ID NO: 65), Ile-Gly-Asn-(Val/Ile)-Thr-His-Ile-Gly-Ala-His-Tyr (SEQ ID NO: 66), Glu-Gly-Gly-Pro-Ser-Ala-Asp-Asn (SEQ ID NO: 67), and (Asn/Asp)-Gln-(Ser/Tyr)-Trp-Ala-(Ser/Pro)-Pro (SEQ ID NO: 68).
