Objective To explore the defecation feasibility of laparoscopic extraperitoneal colostomy in patients with advanced stage rectal cancer.Methods The clinical data of 21 cases of advanced stage rectal cancer received laparoscopic extraperitoneal colostomy from June 2006 to May 2008 were analysed retrospectively.Results All the 21 cases received laparoscopic extraperitoneal colostomy successfully without conversion.Conclusion The laparoscopic extraperitoneal colostomy is safe and feasible in the patients with advanced stage rectal cancer to solve the problem of defecation.
