Breeding of a new winter form of mustard started at the V.S. Pustovoit All-Russian Research Institute of Oil Crops in 1959. This work was aimed on increasing of crop yield due to winter plant growth. Hybrids between winter rapeseed and spring mustard were used as initial material. These species cross easily and had fertile progenies. A breeding sample No. 7823 was selected in hybrid combinations; it withstands low temperatures – from minus 10 to minus 15 °C at autumn sowing. At favorable overwintering conditions, yield of this sample was 2.0–2.8 t/ha, oil content of seeds – 44–48%. During further works, the winter mustard samples No. 26205 and 25582 with yield of 3.65–4.06 t/ha were selected. However, in unfavora-ble winter conditions, the winter resistance of winter mustard was 30–40% low than of winter rapeseed. In 1968, another method to develop winter mustard was chosen: by resynthesis from the elementary species – winter turnip rape (genome AA) and black mustard (genome BB). Usage of grafting and gamma radia-tion of pollen allowed producing F1 hybrid seeds. As a result of long-term works (1971–1989), based on resynthesis hybrids, the first in the world practice variety of winter mustard Suzdalskaya was developed. It competed with winter rapeseed by seed yield and winter resistance, however, erucic acid content in seed oil was 35–37%. In 2002, the first erucic acid free (1.5%) variety of winter mustard Snezhinka was submitted for the State trial. In 2010, the absolutely erucic acid free variety of winter mustard Dzhuna was included into the State register of breeding achievements. In 2022, the variety Vyuzhanka was included into the State Register, it exceeds the variety Dzhuna by seed yield by 0.72 t/ha and has oil of high quality.
Analysis of ecological plasticity and stability must be a base in the development of new genotypes of spring brown mustard. The purpose of the research was a comparative characteristic of spring brown mustard cultivars bred at the V.S. Pustovoit All-Russian Research Institute of Oil Crops by calculated statistic parameters of adaptability, ecological plasticity, stability, stress-resistance, and genetic flexibility in the central zone of the Krasnodar region in 2018–2022. We studied commercial (Nika, Yunona, Gorlinka, Galateya) and promising (VN11/18, VN-27/18, VN-9/18, and VN-25/18) cultivars. The indicators of ecological plasticity and stability were calculated basing on seed yield of spring brown mustard cultivars for five years by a methodology of Eberhart S.A., Rassell W.A. as reworded by Zykin V.А. To calculate a coefficient of a linear regression, we determined environment indexes, which characterized variability of conditions of the cultivar cultivation. The stress-resistance and genetic flexibility were determined by an equation of Rossille A.A., Hamblin J. as presented by Goncharenko А.А. The potential productivity and adaptability were revealed by a methodology of Zhivotkov L.А. The weather conditions in 2020 and 2021 were the most favorable, environmental index had the highest positive meaning and was equal to 1.74 and 1.82 under the highest average yield of brown mustard, which was equal to 1.92 and 1.93 t/ha, respectively. The weather conditions of 2018 and 2022 were less favorable for estimation of brown mustard samples (Ij = -1.71 and -2.00). A comparative analysis of brown mustard cultivars bred at the V.S. Pustovoit All-Russian Research Institute of Oil Crops by parameters of ecological plasticity and stability in the Krasnodar region showed the cultivars Yunona, VN-27/18, and VN-11/18 had the highest plasticity, and Yunona and Galateya demonstrated the highest stability and adaptability to declining of cultivation conditions. Thus, the cultivars Yunona and Galateya were characterized with high yield, plasticity, stability, genetic flexibility, and adaptability. In contrast conditions, the promising cultivar VN-9/18 had high indicators of resistance to stress factors, yield, and adaptability coefficient.
Pt, Au and PtAu catalysts synthesized using MgAl layered double hydroxides (LDHs) were studied by EXAFS, XPS, HAADF STEM and EDX. The possibility of the interaction between metals in bimetallic compositions upon intercalation of their precursors into the interlayer space of LDHs at the anchoring step was demonstrated. The resulting bimetallic catalyst is characterized by a highly dispersed state of metals, the formation of bimetallic particles with a variable composition, and an increase in the fraction of Pto, which is active toward dehydrogenation of propane, as a result of the electron density transfer from gold to platinum.

Osmium compounds with the Os5d4 electron configuration and an octahedral environment of neighboring atoms attract much attention due to the influence of the spin-orbit interaction on the appearance of magnetic properties in materials. XANES spectroscopy makes it possible to obtain information about the magnitude of the spin-orbit interaction from measuring the intensity ratio of lines near the absorption edges. The influence of the spin-orbit interaction on the XANES OsL2,3 spectra in osmium compounds having an octahedral halogen environment of osmium atoms has been studied. Two types of systems have been investigated: isolated osmium clusters in complex compounds and OsCl4 compound containing polymeric chains of Os connected by bridging Cl atoms. Magnetic susceptibility measurements show a non-magnetic ground state and Van Vleck paramagnetism in the case of isolated clusters and a non-zero magnetic moment over the entire temperature range in OsCl4. As a result of measurements of the XANES spectra, high values of the line intensity ratio near the OsL3/L2 absorption edges have been obtained, which is associated with a strong influence of the spin-orbit interaction on the electronic structure. Theoretical analysis of the XANES spectra of Os compounds with different ligands and outer-sphere cations shows that the electronic structure and magnetic properties depend on the spin-orbit interaction, the crystal field splitting, the electron pairing energy, and non-cubic distortions of the Os environment.
The new mustard cultivar Dyuna was developed by a method of multiple individual selection of elite plants from an interspecific hybrid combination of a brown mustard cultivar Rosinka and a spring rapeseed BN-2254 using self-pollination. The main features of the cultivar are brown color of seed coat and high content of essential oil – about 0.76%. The new cultivar is characterized with high potential yield, which exceeds the standard variety by 0.22 t/ha. Cultivation of the cultivar Dyuna allows obtaining raw material with increased contents of antioxidants and phytoncides to produce wide diversity of condiments, most particularly popular and spiciest Dijon mustard that requires for dark mustard seeds with high content of essential oil.

Reaction of pyridine-2,6-dicarbaldehyde with hexane-3,4-dione and ammonium acetate affords 2,6-bis(4,5-diethyl-1 H -imidazol-2-yl)pyridine (L) which was used as ligand in the synthesis of iron( ii ) chloride complex [FeL 2 ]Cl 2 •H 2 O. Conclusions about the structure of the coordination site of the complex were drawn based on the results of IR spectroscopy, EXAFS spectroscopy, static magnetic susceptibility studies, and quantum chemical calculations.
The breeders of the V.S. Pustovoit All-Russian Research Institute of Oil Crops developed artificially the winter form of brown mustard by a method of resyn-thesis first in the world in 1968–1989. The variety of winter brown mustard Suzdalskaya was a result of this work. In 2016–2021, in the V.S. Pustovoit All-Russian Research Institute of Oil Crops, the variety Vyuzhanka was developed by a method of individual selection of elite plants using self-pollination from the initial variety of winter brown mustard Dzhuna. Due to results of competitive variety trials of 2019–2021, the variety of winter brown mustard Vyuzhanka increased the standard variety Dzhuna by seeds yield on average by 0.72 t/ha. Oil content of seeds was leveled to the standard one, increase of oil yield was 0.30 t/ha. Oil produced from the seeds of the new variety Vyuzhanka is characterized with full absence of erucic acid, allyl mustard oil in seeds is within 0.60%. Winter resistance of the variety Vyuzhanka by 32% is higher than the standard one. The variety of winter brown mustard Vyuzhanka is recommended for the cultivation in all regions of the Russian Federation.
The article presents a study of the effect of a biological insecticide preparation containing bacteria of Bacillus Cohn genus (concentration not less than 2x109 CFU/ml3) at the application rate of 5.0 l/ha with the addition of liquid fertilizers of different compositions (high-molecular weight fertilizer based on organic polymers at the rate of 5.0 l/ha and mineral fertilizer with silicon dioxide at the rate of 1.0 l/ha) and used for plant treatment on the number of insect pests of mustard (Brassica juncea L.): Athalia rosae L., Plutella xylostella L., Meligethes aeneus F. These pest species can destroy the generative organs of plants almost completely in a few days if they have a dense population in mustard sowings. We established that one treatment is sufficient for the effective decrease of Athalia rosae L., in the case of Plutella xylostella L., Meligethes aeneus F., there have to be two treatments of crop plants. The biological effectiveness of the biological preparation separately and in mixture with liquid fertilizer was high (at the same level as a chemical insecticide) and amounted to 92-100 %.

The article presents the research data on the effect of Fusarium blight, Phoma rot, and Sclerotinia blight on the plant productivity of winter and spring rapeseed, brown mustard, and white mustard. As a result of studies, we found that Fusarium blight (the pathogens are fungi of the genus Fusarium Link) was the most harmful for the spring rapeseed, brown and white mustard – affection by it significantly decreased plant productivity. At 4 points of affection degree of plants, the harmfulness of the disease reached 71.2, 82.4, and 87.2 %, respectively. On winter rapeseed and mustard, plant productivity was considerably decreased by affection by Phoma rot in the form of a stem cancer (the pathogen is a fungus Leptosphaeria maculans (Desm.) Ces. et. De Not) and the stem form of Sclerotinia blight (the pathogen is a fungus Sclerotinia sclerotiorum (Lib.) De Bary.). The harmfulness of these diseases at 4 points of affection degree of plants reached 56.7 % and 66.7 % on rapeseed, and 56.6 % and 70.7 % on mustard, respectively.
New iron(II) coordination compounds with 2,6-bis(4,5-dimethyl-1H-imidazol-2-yl)pyridine (L) and closo-borate(2–) anions [FeL2]B10H10⋅2H2O and [FeL2]B12H12⋅H2O have been synthesized. The compounds have been identified and studied by CHN analysis, electron spectroscopy (diffuse reflection spectroscopy), IR, Mössbauer, and EXAFS spectroscopies, X-ray powder diffraction, and static magnetic susceptibility. The structures of the coordination knots of complexes [FeL2]B10H10⋅2H2O and [FeL2]B12H12⋅H2O has been obtained by modeling the EXAFS spectra. The ligand is coordinated by the iron(II) ion in a tridentate-cyclic manner by two nitrogen atoms of imidazole cycles and a nitrogen atom of pyridine to form the FeN6 coordination knot. The study of the temperature dependence of the magnetic susceptibility in the range of 80–500 K has showed that the high-temperature spin-crossover 1А1 ↔ 5Т2 manifests itself in the obtained compounds.
During the growth season, the plants of rapeseed ( Brassica napus L.) and brown mustard ( Brassica juncea L.) are affected by various diseases: Fusarium blight, Verticillium blight, Alternaria blight, and others. The cultivation of rapeseed and mustard varieties resistant to diseases is a cost-effective and environmentally safe way to protect plants from diseases. The aim of the work was to evaluate the new breeding material of spring rapeseed and brown mustard for resistance to Fusarium blight in the form of tracheomycotic wilting of plants to continue breeding work to develop varieties of these crops. In 2017-2020, we carried out a phytopathological evaluation of new breeding samples of rapeseed and brown mustard for resistance to Fusarium blight. As a result, we selected a valuable breeding material of spring rapeseed and brown mustard resistant to Fusarium blight infection, which also exceeds the standard by economic characters. The productivity of the best selected samples is higher than the varieties Tavrion and Nika by 0.13-0.59 and 0.18-0.28 t/ha, respectively, the oil content of seeds – by 0.2-2.0 and 1.2-2.1 %, respectively. These samples will be used as donors of Fusarium blight resistance in breeding work during development of new varieties of spring rapeseed and brown mustard in the central zone of Krasnodar region.
The purpose of the research was a comparative evaluation of the disease affection of spring and winter forms of Brassica napus and Brassica juncea on the central zone of the Krasnodar region. Phytosanitary monitoring of diseases was carried out from the seedling stage. In 2011-2020, there were identified the diseases affecting winter and spring crops Brassica napus and Brassica juncea to the same extent: the occurrence frequency of downy mildew and powdery mildew was high, of Alternaria blight – from medium to high, of phytoplasma and bacterial blight – low. Differences are established for Sclerotinia disease, Phoma rot, Fusarium blight, white rust, gray rot. The occurrence frequency of Sclerotinia disease on winter form of Brassica napus and Brassica juncea varied in research years from low to medium, of Phoma rot – from medium to high; on spring forms, these diseases were noted in certain years with the low frequency. Fusarium blight affected only sowings of spring forms of Brassica napus and Brassica juncea with medium and high frequency, except for 2018-2019, when it was low. White rust affected only spring from of Brassica napus , gray rot – only winter forms of Brassica napus and Brassica juncea in certain years with the low frequency.
