Template attacks have been shown to be among the strongest attacks when it comes to side–channel attacks. An essential ingredient there is to calculate the inverse of a covariance matrix. In this paper we make a comparative study of the effectiveness of some 24 different variants of template attacks based on different approximations of this covariance matrix. As an example, we have chosen a recent smart card where the plain text, cipher text, as well as the key leak strongly. Some of the more commonly chosen approximations to the covariance matrix turn out to be not very effective, whilst others are.
SCA(Side-channel analysis) is a well-known method to recover the sensitive data stored in security products. Meanwhile numerous countermeasures for hardware implementation of cryptographic algorithms are proposed to protect the internal data against this attack fortunately. However, some designs are not aware that the protection of the plaintext and ciphertext is also crucial. In this work, we attack an implementation TDES(triple DES) by taking advantage of such leakages detected in a widely used commercial product which is based on the hardware platform that passed the EAL5+ certification. In particular, we guess entire DES keys to construct hypotheses for the intermediate outputs in a TDES calculation. The time cost for this approach is nearly 1 232 of that by a brute force. Furthermore, if in addition leakage about the key becomes available, the attack costs become practical. That is, reducing the key entropy of every DES key to 228 allows an enumeration of the entire TDES in 21.6 hours.
In this paper, we present an ASIC implementation of two post-quantum public-key cryptosystems (PKCs): NTRUEncrypt and TTS. It represents a first step toward securing machine-to-machine (M2M) systems using strong, hardware-assisted PKC. In contrast to the conventional wisdom that PKC is too “expensive” for M2M sensors, it actually can lower the total cost of ownership because of cost savings in provision, deployment, operation, maintenance, and general management. Furthermore, PKC can be more energy-efficient because PKC-based security protocols usually involve less communication than their symmetric-key-based counterparts, and communication is getting relatively more and more expensive compared with computation. More importantly, recent algorithmic advances have brought several new PKCs, NTRUEncrypt and TTS included, that are orders of magnitude more efficient than traditional PKCs such as RSA. It is therefore our primary goal in this paper to demonstrate the feasibility of using hardware-based PKC to provide general data security in M2M applications.
Multikilogram manufacturing process of the Halaven® C14–C35 fragment is described. The synthesis features convergent assembly of subunits by iterative asymmetric Ni/Cr-mediated coupling executed in fixed equipment.
An extraction system with annular centrifugal extractors has been designed to separate plutonium. It worked well when centrifugal speed was ranged from 2000 to 8000 r/min and organic-aqueous flow ratio(o/a) ranged from 1/3 to 1,without obvious entraining phenomenon.Pu(IV) in 6 mol/L HNO3 solution was fast extracted and separated, using 0.1 mol/L TOPO/Cyclohexane as extraction solvent and 0.01 mol/L oxalic acid as back extraction solvent. The extraction ratio of two stages was larger than 90%,and the back ratio per stage was more than 96%.The extraction system shows fast operating speed and high extraction ratio, therefore it is suitable for fast extracting Pu.
The idea of calculating plutonium isotopes ratio using Pu600 energy window (630-670 keV) was put forward by the LLNL .And plutonium isotopes ratio arithmetic on Pu600 energy window was developed in this paper .Some γ energy spectra of two plutonium samples were calculated on this arithmetic ,and the results are consistent with the results from PC/FRAM .
The evolution of the synthesis of Halaven® (E7389, INN eribulin mesylate) from a medicinal chemistry process to the execution of the final process on pilot scale is described. The completion of the synthesis of Halaven® from C1–C13 ester and C14–C35 sulfone alcohol involves a series of chemo-, regio-, and stereoselective transformations. Furthermore, a high-dilution macrocyclization presented a number of challenges for industrial-scale manufacture (throughput, processing time, and side reactions). This paper describes studies at Eisai leading to an understanding, optimization, and control of the chemistry that realized the reproducible commercial production of Halaven®.
The author uses a new effective schedule of template attack method to attack 128 bit AES[7] successfully. This new method which includes only one type of template and several times of classification can access to the whole 128 bits key of AES theoretically. Moreover, the author also comes up with some improvements in order to use less memory and computing to make the attack more efficient.
A novel series of macrocyclic ortho-aminobenzamide Hsp90 inhibitors is reported. In continuation of our research in this area, macrocyclic amides and lactams were explored to reduce the risk of hERG liabilities. This effort culminated in the discovery of compound 38, which showed a favorable in vitro profile, and efficiently suppressed proliferation of several relevant cell lines. This compound showed prolonged Hsp90-inhibitory activity at least 24 h post-administration, consistent with elevated and prolonged exposure in the tumor.
Objective To improve the electrocoagulation method for establishing a rat cerebral apoplexy model, and to evaluate the improved electrocoagulation method. Methods Rat cerebral apoplexy models were established with Tamura method and an improved electrocoagulation method separately.Twenty-six adult male Sprague-Dawley(SD) rats(body weights 200 to 300 g) were divided into five groups: a Tamura operation group,a Tamura sham-operation group(no middle cerebral artery occlusion),a first improved operation group(middle cerebral artery occlusion in position 1),a second improved operation group(middle cerebral artery occlusion in position 2),and an improved sham-operation group(no middle cerebral artery occlusion). After operation, the neurological deficit and cerebral infarction area and site of rats were tested. Results Compared with Tamura method, the improved electrocoagulation method had shorter operation time and did not induce temporomandibular joint disorder. No obvious neurological deficit was found in the rats of the first improved operation group, but obvious paralysis of limbs was found in the rats of the second improved operation group. The rats of the first improved operation group that had infarction confined in the cerebral cortex exhibited a smaller infarction area than the rats of the second improved operation group that had infarction in the cerebral cortex and lateral caudoputamen. Conclusion The improved electrocoagulation method is simpler and more efficient, has lower requirements for equipments and operation techniques, and causes less injury to rats. With middle cerebral artery occlusion at different sites, the improved electrocoagulation method can induce cerebral infarction in different areas and at different sites, and thus,is suitable for experiments with different conditions and purposes.
A novel series of macrocyclic ortho-aminobenzamide Hsp90 inhibitors is reported. A basic nitrogen within the tether linking the aniline nitrogen atom to a tetrahydroindolone moiety allowed access to compounds with good physical properties. Important structure–activity relationship information was obtained from this series which led to the discovery of a soluble and stable compound which is potent in an Hsp90 binding and cell-proliferation assay.
In-gel digestion is an attractive route in mass spectrometry-based proteomic analysis, which, however, often suffers from a certain amount of sample loss mainly due to insufficient protein digestion and peptide extraction. To address this, herein we establish a partially degradable gel-assisted protein digestion and peptide recovery method by means of a simple replacement of bis-acrylamide (BA) with bis-acrylylcystamine (BAC). Concretely, the protein sample solubilized using high concentrations of sodium dodecyl sulfate (SDS) and urea were directly entrapped and immobilized into BAC-crosslinked gel by vacuum-dried gel absorption followed by fixation treatment. After removal of SDS and urea by repeated washing, the proteins were subjected to in-gel digestion and the gel was reductively treated. The tryptic peptides were recovered from the partial degradation of the gel and analyzed afterwards by capillary liquid chromatography coupled with tandem mass spectrometry (CapLC–MS/MS). Compared with conventional BA-crosslinked gel method, this new method increased the numbers of identified proteins and unique peptides by 20.2% and 20.4%, respectively. The further statistical analysis demonstrated that the method improved the recovery of tryptic peptides particularly larger and/or hydrophobic peptides, thereby significantly facilitating protein identification. Thus, the newly developed method is a promising alternative for BA-crosslinked gel-based shotgun workflows and has potential application in the related fields of protein chemistry and proteomics.
