The old method to calibrate magnetic depth mark of logging cable,which is based on data of depth coder of wellhead wheel,has got some errors caused by abrasion,slide of the cable/wheel,and cable stretch.Whereas in a new method,the locations of every magnetic depth marks spacing 25 m are corrected one by one based on the depths of case collar locations in a depth standard well,then are marked magnetically at these locations.Analyzed are disadvantages and their causes of the old method,as well as advantages and implementation of the new method.A SBD-1 cable magnetic depth marker based on the new method has been developed,it solved problems of depth error accumulation and nonuniform mark spacing.
