This article made an improvement of the computational formula of punching-bearing capacity of the stepped foundation of the rectangular section at the connection point of pillar and foundation as well as the step changing spot of the foundation mentioned in the Concrete Structure Design Codes,and made the formula as an expression which has a very simple form and very convenient to calculate,the effective height of the foundation(ho) can be got only by multiplying the stickout length(S1) of foundation plate by punching height coefficient(λ).Even if in today's world where CAD technology is widely used,this method can still play a better role in the stage of preliminary design,the stage of proofreading working drawing and the stage of construction.
