Objective To assess the safety and efficacy of self-crosslinked hyaluronic acid hydrogel (PureRegen Gel Sinus) as a postoperative nasal dressing in the entranasal endoscopic dacryocystorhinostomy (EES-DCR).Methods Thirty-two patients with primary chronic dacryocystitis (PCD) underwent bilateral EES-DCR in our hospital.The randomly selected right or left lacrimal ostium was filled with PureRegen Gel Sinus (dressing S) and the other side as the control group received no dressing S.Patients were followed up for 12 weeks.The mucosal epithelialization of the wound,synechiae,edema,granuloma and the success rate of ostial patency were compared between the two groups.Results Thirty patients completed the study.The dressing S group showed significantly better results than the control group in the degree of the mucosal epithelialization at 4 or 8 weeks after the operation (Z =2.21,P =0.027;Z =2.642,P =0.008).The degree of tumescence in the dressing S group was less and the speed of detumescence was faster compared with that in the control group,but the differences were not statistically significant (P > 0.05).Whereas there were no statistically significant differences between the two groups in synechiae,granuloma and the success rate of ostial patency at 12 weeks postoperatively (P > 0.05).Conclusion The dressing S can facilitate mucosal epithelialization and is a safe nasal dressing in EES-DCR.
AIM:To investigate the visual acuity change and its influencing factors of diabetic cataract after phacoemulsification and intraocular lens implantation. METHODS:Phacoemulsification and intraocular lens implantation was done in 42 patients (48 eyes) with diabetic cataract and 48 senile cataract patients (48 eyes).Visual acuity and postoperative complications were observed. RESULTS:Compared with the control group, diabetic group postoperative visual acuity was poor, but the two groups was no significant difference. In the diabetic group, postoperative corneal endothelial edema, fibrinous exudation and posterior synechiae of iris increased significantly. CONCLUSION:The visual acuity after the operation was related to the diabetic retinopathy level, diabetic duration and postoperative complications.
Objective To evaluate the efficacy of pterygium resection in primary pterygium patients. Methods Forty-two eyes of 38 patients with primary pterygium,aging from 37 to 66 years old were included.The pterygium resection was performed under the surgical microscope.The extensive excision of the fibrovascular tissue was totally removed,while the heads of pterygium was smoothly resected in cornea.Finally the rational drug was emphasized in postoperative period.The recurrence was defined as fibrovascular tissue over the corneoscleral limbus onto clear cornea in the area of previous pterygium excision. Results Thirty-eight patients were followed up for 6-24 months.Pterygium relapsed in 2 eyes and the recurrent rate was 4.76% (2/42). Conclusions The recurrence rate significantly decreases after operation.Surgical technique in pterygium resection should be emphasized in operation and postoperation.
AIM:To evaluate the efficacy and safety of phacoemulsification for acute angle-closure glaucoma combined with cataract.METHODS:An uncontrolled retrospective clinical study.Fifty-one eyes of 47 cases from 2006 to 2010 were acute angle-closure glaucoma combined with cataract.Phacoemulsification combined with intraocular lens implantation surgery was done after intraocular pressure was stable.The follow-up time was 1 year-3 years.RESULTS:Intraocular pressure(IOP) decreased after operation in 44 cases(48 eyes) in 47 cases(51 eyes).Preoperative IOP was 22.98±3.22mmHg,while postoperative IOP was 13.24±3.17mmHg(P<0.05).Visual acuity of 49 eyes improved significantly(P<0.05).The anterior chamber was deepened from the preoperative 1.542±0.314mm to postoperative 3.157±0.243mm(P<0.05).CONCLUSION:Phacoemulsification combined with intraocular lens implantation surgery is a safe and effective approach for the treatment of acute angle-closure glaucoma combined with cataract.A multi-center randomized controlled clinical study is needed to evaluate the long-time safety and efficacy of phacoemulsification for acute angle-closure glaucoma combined with cataract.Phacoemulsification can deepen the anterior chamber,partly reopen the closed peripheral anterior chamber angle,decrease the possibility of closure of the peripheral anterior chamber angle,make the elevated IOP drop,and improve eyesight.
