After analyzing the railway freight car bogie structure, the assembly relationship of the parts and the traditional method used to measure the positioning errors of wheel, the author suggests that the shaft neck should be the datum when positioning errors of wheel is measured. A new type of inspection ruler for measuring the positioning errors of wheel is introduced also.
