Screen content has become one of the prominent mediums in the increasingly connected world. With the prevalence of remote collaboration and communication such as virtual conferences and online education, recent years have witnessed a dramatic increase in the data volume of the screen content. Screen content compression serves as the fundamental technology in fostering the storage, transmission, and exhibition of screen content. In this article, we target the super-resolution of the compressed screen content images, intending to tackle the real-world challenge problems. A dataset is proposed for the super-resolution of the screen contents contaminated with different compression distortion levels. Subsequently, we introduce the principle of the multi-hypothesis into the super resolution and propose a new paradigm for the restoration of the compressed screen content images. The luminance and sharpness similarity metric is adopted in the network learning to better adapt to the screen content characteristic and ensure perceptual fidelity. Experimental results verify the superiority and effectiveness of the proposed method.

Ultracold polar molecules possess long-range, anisotropic, and tunable dipolar interactions, providing unique opportunities to probe novel quantum phenomena. However, experimental progress has been hindered by excessive two-body loss, which also limits further cooling via evaporation. Recent work shows the loss can be mitigated by confining molecules in a two-dimensional geometry. However, a general approach for tuning molecular interactions in a full three-dimensional (3D) stable system has been lacking. Here, we demonstrate the use of an electric field-induced shielding resonance to suppress the reactive loss by a factor of 30 while preserving elastic, long-range dipolar interactions in a bulk gas of ultracold 40K87Rb molecules in 3D. The favorable ratio of elastic to inelastic collisions enables direct thermalization, the rate of which depends on the angle between the collisional axis and the dipole orientation controlled by an external electric field. This is a direct manifestation of the anisotropic dipolar interaction. We further achieve dipolar-interaction-mediated evaporative cooling in 3D. This work demonstrates control of a long-lived bulk quantum gas system with tunable long-range interactions, paving the way for the study of collective quantum many-body physics.

Full control of molecular interactions, including reactive losses, would open new frontiers in quantum science. We demonstrate extreme tunability of ultracold chemical reaction rates by inducing resonant dipolar interactions by means of an external electric field. We prepared fermionic potassium-rubidium molecules in their first excited rotational state and observed a modulation of the chemical reaction rate by three orders of magnitude as we tuned the electric field strength by a few percent across resonance. In a quasi-two-dimensional geometry, we accurately determined the contributions from the three dominant angular momentum projections of the collisions. Using the resonant features, we shielded the molecules from loss and suppressed the reaction rate by an order of magnitude below the background value, thereby realizing a long-lived sample of polar molecules in large electric fields.

We demonstrate how the combination of oscillating magnetic forces and radio-frequency (rf) pulses endows rf photons with tunable momentum. We observe velocity-selective spin-flip transitions and the associated Doppler shift. Recoil-dressed photons are a promising tool for measurements and quantum simulations, including the realization of gauge potentials and spin-orbit coupling schemes which do not involve optical transitions.

We theoretically investigate the collisional heating of a cold atom system subjected to time-periodic forces. We show within the Floquet framework that this heating rate due to two-body collisions has a general semiclassical expression $\mathcal{P}\propto \rho \sigma v_{\rm col} E_0$, depending on the kinetic energy $E_0$ associated with the shaking, particle number density $\rho$, elastic collision cross section $\sigma$, and an effective collisional velocity $v_{\rm col}$ determined by the dominant energy scale in the system. We further show that the collisional heating is suppressed by Pauli blocking in cold fermionic systems, and by the modified density of states in systems in lower dimensions. Our results provide an exactly solvable example and reveal some general features of Floquet heating in interacting systems.
