In this paper the importance of surface treatment for moulds and various surface treatment methods were introduced, specifically the electron-spark surface treatment was explained, including its characteristics, principle and application as well as its comparison with laser surface treatment. The electron-spark surface treatment technology on moulds has an advantage of effective, low cost, environment protective and so on, so it is practically valuable and especially suitable to develop for the mould manufacture enterprises in Taizhou city, famous asthe capital of mould.
