Objective To investigate the value of low field MRI in pre-operation assessment for artificial cochlear implantation.Materials and Methods Twenty-three cases performed MR examinations by GE SIGNA EXCITE 0.35T MR system before artificial cochlear implantation operation.Conventional brain scan was used to exclude the intracranial diseases.3D-FIESTA axial and T2WI coronal scan of inner ear were reconstructed by MIP,MPR and VR methods.Resu-lts MR findings showed normal structure of cochlear nerve and labyrinth in 14 cases(28 ears),ochlear malformations in 5 cases(7ears),internal auditory canal malformations in 3 cases(5 ears),vestibular and cochlear aqueduct enlargement in 2 cases(3 ears),and brain white matter disease in 3 cases. Conclusion Low field MRI is able to display anatomy of internal ear clearly and play an important role in pre-operation assessment. It can help doctor to select suitable ear and reduce risks of operation.
