L.V. Pumpiansky and M.M. Bakhtin were K. Vaginov’s inspiration for Teptelkin and the Philosopher — the characters of his novel “Satyr Chorus” (Leningrad, 1928); the novel is therefore considered an important source that helps to reconstruct the activity of the Nevel school of philosophy in Leningrad in the 1920’s. These characters however do not fully coincide with their archetypes. This discrepancy is due to the poetics of the novel as well as its general concept.
