During a taxonomic revision of the genus Meehania (Lamiaceae), we re-evaluated the identity and nomenclatural status of Meehania faberi (Hemsley) C. Y. Wu. The protologue cited two specimens without designating a holotype; further study revealed that these specimens represent two distinct species. Therefore, in this paper, we designate a lectotype for Meehania faberi (Hemsl.) C. Y. Wu, provide a description of the new species, and assign it the name M. triangularis. The lectotypification of M. faberi and the recognition of M. triangularis clarify a long-standing nomenclatural and taxonomic confusion in the genus Meehania.
Pseudostellaria fangiana, a new species from the Wulipo National Nature Reserve in Wushan County, northeastern Chongqing, China, is described and illustrated. Morphologically, Pseudostellaria fangiana resembles Pseudostellaria heterantha. However, the new species can be distinguished by presence of stolons, with several root tubers in a row, branched at apex, homomorphic leaves, smaller leaf blades, and seeds minutely spiny.
Scutellaria wushanensis (Lamiaceae), found in the broad -leaf forest of Chongqing Wulipo National Nature Reserve, Chongqing, China, is described and illustrated as a new species after comparing it with related species. The new species shares a similar leaf shape and inflorescence morphology with Scutellaria lotienensis. However, the new species can be clearly distinguished from Scutellaria lotienensis by the bract shape, the pubescence inside the corolla, the hairless filaments, and the posterior corolla lobe shape and the purple -red patches.
The mouthparts and antennal sensilla play an important role in insect foraging, recognition of hosts, and reproduction. The family Hesperiidae (order Lepidoptera), commonly known as skipper butterflies, has lineages with different habitat selection and host preferences which may be closely related to different types of sensilla. In this study, the ultrastructure of the proboscis sensilla of 17 species (5 subfamilies, 16 genera) and antennal sensilla of 13 species (5 subfamilies, 13 genera) of Hesperiidae were compared using scanning electron microscopy (SEM). Three types of proboscis sensilla and eight types of antennal sensilla were ultimately observed among these selected species. We next measured some major characteristic values of the sensilla on the proboscides and antennae. Comparative analysis reveals differences in sensilla types and morphological characteristics among different subfamilies and genera. These variations are potentially related to skippers’ adaptive feeding strategies and dietary preferences. The study provides vital information for comparative and functional morphology of the family Hesperiidae.
香果树名为"香果",实际上,果实并没有香味.香果树是在19世纪末由爱尔兰"植物猎人"在我国湖北省巴东县发现并命名的.这一特产我国的植物曾广布北半球,现在却面临着诸多的生存威胁. 大家都知道,科学界已发表的植物都有科学定名,名字背后也有相应的来历.大部分植物的名称是根据其特点命名的,比如叶似蜈蚣的蜈蚣草、花色如蛋黄的鸡蛋花和果似猫屎的猫儿屎等.但当我们仔细考证某些植物的名字时,可能会遇到名不符实的个别情况.重庆就有一种名为"香果树"的国家二级保护野生植物,但它的果实却一点也不香.
A new species of Gesneriaceae, Oreocharis wuxiensis, is described and illustrated from Wuxi County, Chongqing Municipality, China. The new species is morphologically similar to O. giraldii in the leaf blade’s shape and indumentum and the corolla’s shape and color. It can be easily distinguished by the shape of the corolla tube and lobes, the indumentum and pistil length, and the ovary’s size and style. At present, a total of three populations were confirmed in Yintiaoling National Nature Reserve, Wuxi County, with about 500 mature individuals. According to the IUCN Red List Categories and Criteria, it is provisionally assessed as Vulnerable (VU D1).
In this paper, a new record genus of Orchidaceae in Chongqing, Cheirostylis Blume, and its new record species, Cheirostylis chinensis Rolfe, were reported. The detailed morphological description, habitat distribution were described with color photos. The vouncher specimen was preserved in the Herbarium of Chongqing Museum Natural History(CQNM).served in the Herbarium of Chongqing Museum Natural History(CQNM).
2022年4月,在重庆阴条岭国家级自然保护区进行保护植物调查时,发现了重庆蔷薇科植物1新记录种——单瓣月季花(Rosa chinensis var.spontanea(Rehder&E.H.Wilson)T.T.Yu&T.C.Ku),凭证标本保存于重庆自然博物馆植物标本室(CQNM).描述了新记录种的形态特征和生境分布,并提出了保护建议.
2021年9月,课题组在重庆阴条岭国家级自然保护区进行保护植物调查时,发现了重庆唇形科植物1个新记录种——假鬃尾草,并描述了该新记录种的形态特征和生境分布,凭证标本保存于重庆自然博物馆植物标本室(CQNM).
Most species of Paraphlomis are distributed in the south of the Yangtze River in China. In this study, a new species, P. nana, from northeast Chongqing in the north of the Yangtze River is described and illustrated. Bayesian inference and maximum likelihood analyses based on two nuclear ribosomal DNA regions (ITS and ETS) and three plastid DNA markers (rpl32-trnL, rps16, and trnL-trnF) were carried out to explore the phylogenetic position of the new species within Paraphlomis. Though the nuclear and plastid trees reveal incongruent placements of P. nana in Paraphlomis, which may be caused by chloroplast capture, a close relationship between the new species and P. albiflora is supported by molecular phylogenetic, morphological, and geographic evidence. However, the two species can be clearly distinguished from each other by the plant height and lamina and calyx morphology.
Vincetoxicum is one of the largest genera in Apocynaceae with recent expansion that includes former Tylophora, Biondia, and other small genera. In this study, we describe Vincetoxicum pingtaoanum sp. nov., a new woody species of Apocynaceae from the Three Gorges District in Central China based on our recent field and old herbarium collections. It is unique due to its growth habit and leaf characteristics which is similar to the former Biondia species. However, it has the well-developed corona common to the former Tylophora species. Diagnostic characteristics, a full description, photographs, ecology, and a distribution map and conservation status of the new species are provided in this study. Detailed comparisons with similar species and a key to all known species of Vincetoxicum from the Three Gorges District are also provided.
在2008年出版的重庆五里坡国家自然保护区科学考查报告的基础上,于2019年和2020年对该保护区进行了植物多样性复查,根据2021年9月7日国家林业和草原局以及农业农村部最新公布的15号文件,经过统计,该保护区国家一级重点保护植物有5种,二级国家重点保护植物有72种.对该保护区的地理环境和保护区国家保护植物的分布特点进行了分析,并且对植物的保护措施提出了合理化建议.
