Metastable alloy powders in the FexTi100-x(x=10~90,in mol%) system were prepared by mechanical alloying(MA) and the bulk alloys were consolidated by shock compression. From the XRD patterns of MA-treated powders, amorphous phases, nanocrystalline phases and/or metastable solid solution phases were observed in as-milled alloys. The XRD pattern of shock-consolidated bulk body did not change much from that of the MA-treated powder, which showed the metastable powder was successfully consolidated without decomposition or recrystallization. The magnetization of FexTi100-x metastable bulk alloys at room temperature under a field of 800 kA/m decreased with decreasing Fe concentration and approached zero at about x=60.The results of Mossbauer spectrum indicated that Fe-Ti alloys included α-Fe,the extended bcc Fe-Ti solid solution, and the amorphous phase.
