The method for reconstructing the cascade curve by the Cherenkov radiation in water of the NEVOD detector with a dense spatial array of optical modules is discussed. Cascades are generated by near-horizontal muons which are separated by the DECOR coordinate detector. The cascade curves and the cascade energy spectrum measured in an ∼8000-hour measurement series are presented.
Новая установка предназначена для независимой оценки энергий ШАЛ, регистрируемых в эксперименте НЕВОД-ДЕКОР в области излома энергетического спектра. Измерительная система ливневой установки создается на основе кластеров сцинтилляционных детекторов, расположенных на крышах лабораторных корпусов НИЯУ МИФИ (Москва), и будет регистрировать электромагнитную (для околовертикальных ливней) и мюонную (при больших зенитных углах) компоненты ШАЛ. Обсуждаются особенности измерительной системы, системы сбора и обработки данных, а также результаты изучения характеристик отдельного детектора и алгоритм выделения событий по данным различных кластеров.
A shower array for investigations of primary cosmic rays in the knee region in the energy spectrum of extensive air showers is being designed on the basis of the NEVOD experimental complex. Features of the cluster organization of the array and the results of the study of the characteristics of both the basic scintillation counter and the counter cluster, which is the basic element for triggering, detecting, and data collection and treatment systems, are discussed.
A schematic diagram of a hodoscope with 3200 amplitude channels is described. The hodoscope is based on state-of-the-art programmable logic integral circuits (PLICs). Thanks to the use of PLICs, it is capable of measuring the lengths of input signals in each channel and monitoring their shape. In addition, the average time of data readout from the activated channels has been reduced and the maintenance of the hodoscope has been simplified. The hodoscope circuit may be easily adjusted by reconfiguring the PLIC components. The hodoscope is built to CAMAC standard.
