The use of laser technologies in medicine does not lose its relevance due to the unique photothermal and photochemical effects of laser light on tissue. In recent years, interest in laser technologies in dentistry and maxillofacial surgery has grown significantly due to the study of the biomodulating effect and the development of new harmonics of laser radiation. Stimulation of osteogenesis processes in the maxillofacial area is an actual problem of modern dentistry in the treatment of periodontal diseases, trauma of the maxillofacial area, orthodontic treatment, bone-plastic surgeons associated with remodeling of bone tissue. The effect of laser radiation with various parameters on the processes of reparative osteogenesis has been studied in numerous experimental studies of domestic and foreign scientists.
DOI: 10.21883/PJTF.2017.11.44691.16636
Anatomical and functional proximity of oral and digestive tract organs as well as common mechanism of innervation and humoral regulation create prerequisites for the involvement of oral cavity in pathological processes developing in the gastrointestinal tract. Various gastric and duodenal substances affect oral tissues during frequent refluxes and produce lesions in epithelium of oral mucosa. Results of preliminary qualitative assessment of morphological changes in lingual mucosa are presented for patients with acid-dependent pathology.
At present, many new technologies and methods for treating periodontal diseases appear in dentistry. Now, the use of lasers in periodontal treatment creates special conditions: to accelerate the periods of treatment and healing, improve local immunity, ensure sufficient accuracy of manipulation, minimize complications and undesirable effects, and lack resistance of microflora to repeated courses of treatment. In this review, the literature presents the mechanisms of photodynamic therapy, used in combination with surgical methods and modern materials to improve the treatment of periodontal diseases, suggested the principles of the effect of the photodynamic effect on pathological cells. This allows you to reduce the time and volume of surgical interventions on periodontal tissue and the healing period.
