Bis vor kurzem galt die zytotoxische Chemotherapie in der Behandlung des fortgeschrittenen Prostatakarzinoms als ineffektiv. Neuere Substanzen lassen nun jedoch verbessertes klinisches Potential erwarten. Insbesondere Docetaxel erbrachte sowohl als Monotherapeutikum als auch in Kombination mit anderen Medikamenten vielversprechende Ergebnisse in der Behandlung des hormonrefraktären Prostatakarzinoms (HRPCA). Das PSA Flare-Phänomen ist in der androgenablativen Therapie des fortgeschrittenen Prostatakarzinoms mit LHRH-Analoga gut bekannt; kürzlich wurde es auch im Rahmen der palliativen Chemotherapie des HRPCA beschrieben. Ziel unserer Studie war es, Häufigkeit und klinische Signifikanz eines solchen PSA Flare unter Docetaxel basierter Therapie bei HRPCA – Patienten zu definieren.
