Rare earth ions (REIs) have emerged as a promising platform for quantum technology, especially as memories – given their long optical and spin coherence times. Along with a brief review of progress in the field, we show that doped thin films on silicon can be engineered to approach the properties shown in bulk REI doped crystals and can leverage CMOS nanofabrication methods for the development of integrated quantum devices.
In this paper, the authors have studied about availability estimation of nuclear power generation plants. If any of the subsystems stops working, then the whole system gets fail. Pre-emptive resume policy has been used for repair purposes, for failures follow exponential time distribution, whereas all repairs follow general time distribution. The system under consideration is nonMarkovian the supplementary variable technique has been used for the mathematical formulation of the model. Laplace transforms are being utilized to solve mathematical equations. Some particulate cases and asymptotic behavior of the system have also been derived to improve the model’s practical importance. The expression for the availability function has been computed. A numerical problem, together with its graphical representation, has been appended in the end to highlight actual results.
In this paper a stochastic model of an electronic system ATM (Automated Teller Machine) for the measure of reliability and its characteristics by using internal and external repair policies have been considered by the authors. Mechanical failure, environmental failure and failure due to human error have been introduced in this paper. Both types of repair policies of the system are affected by abnormal environment conditions. The reliability characteristics like MTSF (Mean time to system failure), MTCSR (Mean time to complete system recovery) steady state availability and busy period for repairman of system have been obtained using semi- Markov process and mathematical model have been solved by using regenerative point technique. For the improvement of practical utility of the model some particular cases are considered.
Study the effect of weather parameters on seasonal incidence of borer complex in sugarcane under Terai zone of Northern West Bengal was conducted during two consecutive years 2017-18 and 2018-19. During seasonal study, It was observed that maximum temperature with maximum relative humidity showed highly significant and significant positive correlation(r=8733** and r=6784*) with % incidence of root borer of sugarcane, respectively and the other parameter i.e. minimum temperature, minimum RH showed non significant positive correlation (r = 0.0758, r = 0.1619), respectively, while, the rainfall registered non significant negative relation (r= -0.1331). This is clear that maximum temperature was the influential weather elements for buildup of root borer incidence of sugarcane.
Transcript profiling and immunodetection of MAPK4 and MAPK6 proteins were carried out at different stages of Alternaria blight disease in Varuna (susceptible) and PAB 9511 (tolerant) genotypes of Brassica juncea to probe the role of these kinases during pathogenesis. The transcripts of both MAPK4 and MAPK6 correlated with their protein products at different stages (viz. initial, middle and late) of infection, however, with few exceptions. It was observed that the expression of MAPK4 is downregulated whereas that of MAPK6 is upregulated as disease progresses through different stages of infection in both genotypes. After correlating the accumulation of transcript or protein product with disease severity, it may be inferred that downregulation of MAPK4 weakens MAPK4 dependent plant defense so as to facilitate the pathogen’s colonization on the Brassica plant. Further, upregulation of MAPK6 suggests strengthening of MAPK6 dependent plant defense which, however, may be insufficient to curtail the pathogen’s colonization as the disease progresses. The increased expression of both kinases in the tolerant genotype of Brassica juncea suggests that MAPK4 or MAPK6 dependent defense is triggered to high magnitude as compared to the susceptible genotype of Brassica juncea. During progression through different stages of infection, the expression of MAPK4 and MAPK6 has shown negative correlations with each other in both genotypes of Brassica.
In women, mentalillness is often associated with social burden and inadequate compliance. Social burden, distress tolerance and medicationadherence among female withmental illness in remission. Toknow the level of social burden, distresstolerance and its relationship with medicationadherence among Indian female with mental illness in remission. Fiftyone consecutive asymptomatic female patients were assessed using socio-demographicproforma, The Zarit Burden Interview(ZBI), Distress Tolerance Scale(DTS) and Medication adherence scale(MAS). Seventy five percent of patientsexperienced different levels of burden and 25 %has poor medication adherence. Significant correlationwas observed between social burden and occupation (p<. 05); distress tolerancewith decision making (p<. 05) and knowledge about treatment (p <. 05), andmedication adherence with knowledge about treatment(p<.01). Thetotal scores of ZBI had a significant correlation with DTS scores (p. >01) andMAS score (p<.05). Social burden is common, and interrelatedwith distress tolerance and medicationadherence in women with mental illness in remission.
This paper presents a new approach for performing numerical inversion of the Laplace transform using rationalised Haar wavelet. Generally, the derivation of the operational matrix is difficult, but in this paper, we present an elementary approach to the operational matrices of orthogonal functions. The stated algorithm is simple and only matrix multiplications and ordinary algebraic operations are involved in the method.
Phosphorus (P) is one of the major essential plant nutrients. Physiological processes andyield of cereals are adversely affected in soils deficient in phosphorus. Phosphorusdeficiency is widespread in Indian soils and response of cereals to applied P is oftenspectacular. P use has increased significantly with increasing food grain production inIndia. Recent increase in P fertiliser cost, however, has raised concerns about theprofitability of P application in cereals. Results of on-farm P omission plot experimentsconducted across the Indo-Gangetic Plain indicated an average P response of 712, 969and 853 kg/ha in rice, wheat and maize, respectively. This suggests that skipping Papplication or blanket reduction in P application rates across a region or the countrywould adversely affect cereal production in India. Economic assessment based onapplication rates, nutrient response, cost of phosphate and minimum support price ofthe cereals showed return on investment (Rs/Re) of 2 in all scenarios. A mechanism ofoptimizing return on investment in P fertiliser in changing fertiliser price scenario andvariable crop P response situations was highlighted. In general, a crop response basedsite specific P management strategy would help in maximizing yield and profitability ofmajor cereals under increasing fertiliser price scenario.M. L. By using high-magnetic fields (up to 60 T), we observe compelling evidence of the integer quantum Hall effect in trilayer graphene. The magnetotransport fingerprints are similar to those of the graphene monolayer, except for the absence of a plateau at a filling factor of ν=2. At a very low filling factor, the Hall resistance vanishes due to the presence of mixed electron and hole carriers induced by disorder. The measured Hall resistivity plateaus are well reproduced theoretically, using a self-consistent Hartree calculations of the Landau levels and assuming an ABC stacking order of the three layers.
We report on magneto-transport measurement in disordered graphene under a pulsed magnetic field of up to 57 T. For large electron or hole doping, the system displays the expected anomalous integer quantum Hall effect (IQHE) specific to graphene down to the filling factor ν=2. In the close vicinity of the charge neutrality point, the system breaks up into coexisting puddles of holes and electrons, leading to a vanishing Hall and finite longitudinal resistance with no hint of divergence at very high magnetic field. Large resistance fluctuations are observed near the Dirac point. They are interpreted as the natural consequence of the presence of electron and hole puddles. The magnetic field at which the amplitude of the fluctuations is the largest is directly linked to the mean size of the puddles.
Acute abdominal pain following laparoscopic live donor nephrectomy (LLDN) might be a diagnostic dilemma,and prompt diagnosis and management is of paramount importance. Herein, we describe a case of acute appendicitis in a 62-year-old kidney donor who presented with acute abdominal pain 16 days following LLDN with features inconsistent with a diagnosis of acute appendicitis. An ultrasound scan suggested strangulatedSpigelian hernia unrelated to the operative wound. Exploration of the wound and mini-laparotomy showed no evidence of wound dehiscence or a hernia, but revealed an inflamed appendix wrapped up with omentum. Appendectomy led to complete recovery of the patient. It is imperative to maintain a high index of suspicion for acute appendicitis in this situation to avoid septic complications that might adversely affect the residual renal function and cause negative impact on kidney donation. To the best of our knowledge, this is the first reported case of acute appendicitis following LLDN.
