Alemtuzumab (Campath-1H) is a powerful lymphocyte depleting antibody (anti-CD52) that has been used as induction immunosuppresion in cardiac transplant patients. Genetic expression profiling (GEP) of mononuclear cells has been proposed as a non-invasive monitoring test to rule out cardiac rejection, thus decreasing the number of routine surveillance endomyocardial biopsies performed. There is no data regarding the effect on GEP scores exerted by immunosuppression induction with Alemtuzumab. Our objective was to analyze the effect of Alemtuzumab on the GEP scores in cardiac recipients.
