The mediastinal abscess was debrided, the intracardiac fungal mass was excised, and the right atrium was repaired using femoral cardiopulmonary bypass (CPB) without the need for deep hypothermic circulatory arrest. The pathophysiology and management of disseminated pulmonary and cardiac aspergillosis are also discussed.
