The breed poplar gene collection garden was established and the cold resistance test was carried in chernozem sandy soil of Shuangliao city Jilin province. The result showed that there were 11 breeds whose cold resistance was larger than the control Populus simonii × P. Nigra cv. 'Baicheng'. They were Populus '98-34'、Populus '7915501'、Populus × cv.'47'、Populus × cv. '18 '、Populus × cv. 'xiao × jiabao-638 '、Populus × eurameicana cv. 'Molibolin '、Populus × cv.'Baicheng-2' 、Populus × cv. 'Datong 86-12'、Populus × cv. '7'、Populus × cv. 'Fujin-4'、Populus × heixiao cv. 'Zhonglin sanbei-1' which were ideal cold resistance parent for breed poplar crossbreeding in Jilin province.
The breed poplar gene collection garden was established and the adaptation cultivation experiment was carried in chernozem sandy soil of Shuangliao city Jilin province.The result showed that there were 10 breeds whose seedling stage (1 year) rate of survival was greater than the control Populus simonii ×P.nigra cv.‘Baicheng’ whose rate of survival was 85.3%.They were Populus ×eurameicana cv.‘Serotina’ (94.0%),Populus ×cv.'Xinsheng ×xiaohei -52'(91.3%), Populus ×cv.'Baicheng-41'(88.7%),Populus‘83-25’(87.4%), Populus‘Mosike jianada’(86.7%), Populus cv.'Jia ×mei'( 86.7%) , Populus‘88 -04 ’ ( 86.7%) , Populus‘98 -33 ’ ( 86.7%) , ( Populus simonii ×Populus nigra ) × (Populus nigra ×Populus simonii) cl.'Heilin Ⅱ'(86.7%), Populus simonii ×Populus pyramidolis cv.xiaozuan (85.6%) ,respectively.There were 2 breeds whose half rotation (12 years) preserving rate was higher than control Popu-lus simonii ×P.nigra cv.‘Baicheng’whose preserving rate was 85.33%.They were Populus‘7915501’(91.67%)and Populus ×cv.'Bailin-3'(87.50%).There was one breed whose expression was steady with control.It was Populus ×cv.'Xinsheng ×xiaohei -52'(85.33%).
The breed poplar gene collection garden was established in Shuangliao city Jilin province.The 131 breeds, 127 conservation breeds and 6463 plants were collected in this garden.The increment of 88 breeds which was taken part in the contrast in the garden was evaluated.The result showed that there were 58 breeds of increment in chernozem were greater than the Populus simonii ×P.nigra cv.'Baicheng'.Thereinto, the fast growing variety were Populus ×cv.'33', Populus ×cv.'47', Populus ×eurameicana cv.'Serotina'.The second fast growing variety were Populus suaveoleus +P.canadensis, Populus ×cv.'W14', Populus ×cv.'N119', Populus ×eurameicana cv.'Gelrica', Populus ×eurameicanacv.'Jilin jianada', Populus × cv.'2', Populus ×eurameicanacv.'Mosike jianada', Populus ×eurameicanacv.'Molibolin', Populus ×cv.'Datong86-12', Pop-ulus nigra ×P.simonii, Populus ×cv.'Jiaxing'.They were ideal fast growing parent of breed poplar crossbreeding.

The result of comparison experiment of poplar strains in sandy-land shows that Lipu poplar is the best one among the 7 strains of poplar. Its volume can reach 182m 3hm 2 at twenty-two year-old,more than 246% compared with control The Baicheng strain shows early fast growing and with high resistibility and adaptability and can be regard as first selected planting species for poplar timer forest in sandy-land.
