China has a 3,000 year-old history of apiculture. With vast territory and diverse geography, as well as climate, China possesses an enormous number of nectar plants and honey bee species. In this article, the reader is introduced to the geographical distribution, origin, biological characteristics and the main productivity of nine honey bee species now being kept in China.
