SWIM is a Semantic Desktop framework to find and access any kind of resources identified by an URI. The current implementation is comparable to traditional desktop search engines extended by Semantic Web technology. SWIM uses stackable adapters to extract or process content and metadata, an ontology based on common standards like the Dublin Core Metadata Initiative, multiple search facilities and a interactive visualization to navigate among related resources.
