บทความนี้มุ่งศึกษาปัจจัยที่มีอิทธิพลต่อการสะสมทักษะชีวิตในสังคมสมัยใหม่ของแรงงานย้ายถิ่นกลับจากต่างประเทศ ใช้ระเบียบวิธีการวิจัยเชิงปริมาณ มีหน่วยวิเคราะห์ระดับปัจเจก กลุ่มตัวอย่างเป็นแรงงานย้ายถิ่นกลับจากต่างประเทศในจังหวัดชัยภูมิ ภาคตะวันออกเฉียงเหนือ ประเทศไทย จำนวน 420 คน เก็บข้อมูลเมื่อเดือนกุมภาพันธ์ 2566 ด้วยแบบสัมภาษณ์ที่ผ่านการตรวจสอบความถูกต้องเชิงเนื้อหาและมีค่าความเชื่อมั่น 0.902 วิเคราะห์ข้อมูลโดยใช้สถิติเชิงพรรณนาและสถิติถดถอยพหุคูณ ผลการวิจัยพบว่าแรงงานย้ายถิ่นกลับจากต่างประเทศมีอายุเฉลี่ย43.6 ปี เป็นชาย ร้อยละ 56.2 และร้อยละ 33.1 จบชั้นประถมศึกษา มากกว่าครึ่งหนึ่งไปทำงานต่างประเทศแบบถูกกฎหมาย ในกลุ่มประเทศเอเชียตะวันออก ร้อยละ 94.0 และร้อยละ 52.1 ย้ายถิ่นไปทำงานต่างประเทศเพียง 1 ครั้ง ซึ่งแรงงานย้ายถิ่นกลับส่วนใหญ่ มากกว่าครึ่งหนึ่งเห็นคุณค่าในตนเองในระดับปานกลาง ร้อยละ 53.8 คาดหวังประโยชน์จากการย้ายถิ่นไปทำงานต่างประเทศระดับปานกลาง ร้อยละ 46.4 และแรงงานย้ายถิ่นกลับมากกว่าครึ่งหนึ่งสะสมทักษะชีวิตได้ในระดับปานกลาง เป็นที่น่าสังเกตว่า กว่าร้อยละ 40.0 สะสมทักษะชีวิตได้ในระดับต่ำ นอกจากนี้ พบว่า ปัจจัยที่มีอิทธิพลต่อการสะสมทักษะชีวิตในสังคมสมัยใหม่ของแรงงานย้ายถิ่นกลับจากต่างประเทศ ได้แก่ เพศชาย จำนวนปีที่ศึกษา วิธีการย้ายถิ่นแบบถูกกฎหมาย จำนวนครั้งที่ย้ายถิ่น และการเห็นคุณค่าในตนเอง โดยทุกตัวแปรสามารถอธิบายการผันแปรของการสะสมทักษะชีวิตในสังคมสมัยใหม่ของแรงงานย้ายถิ่นกลับจากต่างประเทศได้ 32.6% (R-square = 0.326)
This study focuses on the entrepreneurial processes of Thai female returning migrants. A phenomenological qualitative research method was employed at the individual, household, and community levels. The results revealed that most female returning migrant workers were married, aged between 26–45 years, and majority of them had graduated from high school. They migrated to South Korea, Taiwan, and Israel, both legally and illegally. They worked in the industrial, agricultural, and service sectors. When female migrants returned to their origins, they worked as agriculture or livestock entrepreneurs, and business operators. There are three steps to becoming an entrepreneur: 1) Opportunity Recognition; 2) Opportunity Exploitation; and 3) Value Creation.
This research work seeks to explore the capitals utilization for livelihoods among households with People Living with HIV/AIDS (PLWHA) in Kaduna State, North West, Nigeria. The study adopts a qualitative procedural and explicitly phenomenological in nature and employed in-depth interviews, participatory and non-participatory observations as research tool. The interview period of conducting the fieldwork was from August to November, 2019 and twenty-one households with PLWHA in Kaduna State, North West, Nigeria were utilized as the qualified target. This research results discovered that households with PLWHA utilized a range of capitals for their livelihoods and created their livelihoods patterns based on their available capitals. The findings revealed that there are five types of capitals as resources utilized by households with PLWHA to fashioning out their livelihoods patterns and such capitals are social capital for resolving households difficulties and participating in the villages activities; financial capital utilized by households for investments and land accretions; human capital like knowledge and know-how useful in their line of businesses to maintain their households; natural and physical capitals that are utilized as means to make every effort to make living like cutting trees for cooking and selling, collecting of herbs from the forest for medication, road network among other things. Based on the findings of this study, it is recommended that authorities need to train households with PLWHA on how to enhance their capacities on livelihoods capitals utilization effectively. The government should come up with policies that can take care and support the livelihood hood activities of households with PLWHA.
This study focuses on the level of happiness arising from the economic status of the elderly. It has placed emphasis on the elderly because the National Elderly Committee forecasted that the ratio of elderly population will rise from 17.5% in 2020 to 25.12% in 2030. To find out what factors, especially the economic ones, contributed to the happiness of the elderly is an important preparation for the aging society. The factors considered in this study include income, human capital, physical capital, accessibility to economic capital, etc. A sample of senior citizens in two northeastern provinces of Thailand was interviewed in this study. The overall findings revealed that saving money, having accessibility to economic capital, having self-esteem, maintaining relationships with family members and neighbours, and sustaining a way of life are the main factors.
This paper investigates the self-prevention of elderly migrants, who move to the urban area of Khon Kaen province, which is one of rapid growth city of Thailand.The study employed a qualitative research, specifically narrative approach.In-depth interview with 16 elderly migrants who have in the urban area of Khon Kaen province.The period of the data collection was August 2017 and data analysis was thematic analysis.The findings indicated that four types of self-prevention; (i)denial of the transition to old age and refusal to be a dependent elderly (ii) perceiving by physical limitation(iii) life goal changing and (iv) anti-fear.
HIV/AIDS related stigma remains a major social problem facing households with People Living With HIV/AIDS (PLWHA) in Nigeria in general and Kaduna State in particular. It is observed that stigma attached to HIV/AIDS pandemic makes it difficult for households with PWLHA to manage their members living with the epidemic especially in the areas of diagnosis and treatment as well as obstructs the treatment of the pandemic. Thus, this study examined the stigma experienced by households with PLWHA and the patterns of managing the challenges of HIV/AIDS interrelated stigma. As for the methods, this study was qualitative in nature; accordingly, it employed in-depth interviews to draw information from the 39 key informants as its method while the data obtained were analyzed using content analysis. The findings of this study discovered that households with PLWHA in Kaduna State experience numerous forms of stigma and prejudice together with human rights abuse that is detrimental to the total well being of PLWHA and its households. The findings of the study also revealed that HIV/AIDS can be categorized into internalized, community and social based stigma such as fear, shame, rejection and feelings of frustration. The patterns households with PLWHA adopted to manage the HIV/AIDS related stigma were isolation, nondisclosure, and loss of follow up. This study concludes that households with PLWHA are faced with certain psychosocial strains or tensions and it is essential to intervene to lessen the consequence of HIV/AIDS stigma on households with PLWHA so that they can get the knack to achieve wellness, enhance life span and advance the quality of life. It is also recommended that social attention, social work support, and counselling services be improved upon to mitigate this problem.
The migrant household has considered as the marginal household that is facing with fluctuated socio-economic changes and climate change which challenges their livelihoods, especially the food security. This paper investigates factors influencing on food security among the migrant households in the rural community of lower-northeastern Thailand. Sequential mixed-method methodology was implemented in research design. A qualitative study was firstly applied to investigate community background and challenges in food security among the migrant households, and then followed by a quantitative study in order to examine factors influencing on food security among the migrant households. Sample group was 385 migrant households who lived in the provinces of Surin, Buriram, and Srisaket, and the samples were selected by multistage cluster sampling method. Interview schedule was implemented in data collection and data analysis was done by descriptive statistics and the path analysis. The results revealed the challenges in food security that the migrant households had been dealing with. The challenges included 1) limited land holding, 2) climate change, and 3) household labor shortage. Quantitative study presented the fairly poor level of food security among the migrant households (59.5 percent), and factors influenced on food security consisted of remittance, land holding, human capital, social capital, physical capital, natural capital, and household risk. Research implication was engaged as a guideline of improving quality of life of the migrant households, especially on food security which directly affected to rural households.

This article examines the way of life of Thais in Germany.The qualitative approach was applied for data collection in June 2018 by in-depth interview and observation.Data were analyzed by the content analysis method.The results found that the way of life of the Thai family in Germany comprised of 3 dimensions 1) Economics dimension: they own the shops (massage shop, karaoke, and restaurant) and work as labour.2) Social and Cultural dimension: they have networks (sharing information about rights and sources of working) and they practice the Thai cultures to maintain Thainess.
This paper aims to identify new indicators of class at household level. Qualitative research methodology was implemented in the research design, and the research was conducted in a suburban area of a major northeastern city in Thailand. The research results found and identified four types of suburban households, which were 1) rich households, 2) middle class households, 3) lower middle class households, and 4) poor households. The research revealed seven indicators of class, that were 1) land, 2) occupation, 3) income, 4) assets, 5) convenient facilities, 6) education accessibility , and 7) medical accessibility. It was noticed that the suburban community focused on indicators of class which represented a mixed lifestyle between urban and rural lifestyles.
This article explores the roles, in the public space, of women who are left behind by migration. Qualitative research was applied to collect data. The results found that women left behind by migration played larger roles in the community, such as village development activities and community merit making, after receiving their overseas remittance. These activities led them to become loan lenders and labour brokers. Their new positions provided more opportunities to take a role in politics at the local level.
This article examines the determinant factors of life happiness of elderly people in the rural of the northeast, Thailand. The quantitative approach was used. Data were collected in December 2016 by interview 268 elderly people in the rural area with a high proportion of the elderly people. Data were analyzed by descriptive statistics and multiple regression. The result found that 53.4 percent of samples have an overall happiness score at a high level. The determinant factors of the life happiness of the elderly are family living style, average monthly income, relationships with family, access to human capital, and the livelihoods. All variables have explained the life happiness of the elderly 36.7 percent (R2 = 0.367).

The purpose of this research was to examine human capital accumulation and factors determined human capital accumulation among female migrants, who moved from the rural northeastern region of Thailand, at destination areas. Using quantitative methodology in the study, and unit of analysis was at the individual level. The sample size was 320 female migrants who have been living in Chonburi for 1-10 years with inclusion criteria. The approach for sampling was the randomized enumeration area. The interview schedule was used as a research tool, and the data collection period was in January 2018. Data analysis was done by PATH analysis with STATA program. The results found that factors effected directly on human capital accumulation consisted of 1) female migrant characteristics; marriage status and number of the dependent household member, 2) migration factor; remittance, 3) human capital factor; the computer skill and 4) economic factor; occupational income with statistical significance level at 0.01 and 0.05. In addition, it was found those female migrant characteristics; age, and education, human capital factor; training on occupational skill, and social capital factor; membership had indirect effects on human capital accumulation through single marriage status with statistical significance level at 0.01 and 0.05. In addition, the factor of female migrant characteristics, migration factor, human capital factor, economic factor, and social factor were able to explain the variance of human capital accumulation by 49.34 percent (the R-squared = 0.4934).
Transmigration in Indonesia is perceived as an important approach to improve welfare; however, this policy has also been a subject of criticism. Along with the enactment of the Regional Autonomy Law, the transmigration policy changed from centralized to decentralize. That is, the regional government has a large role in making decisions on the implementation of transmigration. The national transmigration program was rejected in several transmigration destinations in Indonesia. Nevertheless, transmigration is still recognized as one of the programs that can improve people's living standards and one of the ways to develop the region. This paper discusses the role of transmigration in the development process in East Kalimantan Province and various issues related to interactions between local communities and transmigration communities as migrants. The sources of data and information in this paper are reviews of various research reports, journal articles, books, and other supporting documents.
This research aims to study factors that associated to work-life balance on dimension work/personal life enhancement of industrial and service labours. The quantitative methodology was employed with individual level as a unit of analysis. The sample consisted of 397 labours who are working in industrial and service sectors that random by systematic random sampling. The data were collected using the interview schedule from May to June 2018 and analyzed by descriptive statistics and Chi-square. The results showed that most of the labours (75.3 percentages) were female. Age of labours samples in the generation Y (19-38 years old) 63.5 percentages. The labours samples have got married (43.2 percentages). More than haft of them finished secondary school. There are 74.1 percentages of labours samples worked in industrial and service sectors less than 10 years and more than haft worked per day more than 8 hours that over than the regulation by labour law. When analyzing factors associated to work-life balance on dimension work/personal life enhancement of industrial and service labours with Chi-square, it was found that the personnel characteristics factors (education level) and work condition factors (working hours per day) were the factors that associated to work-life balance on dimension work/personal life enhancement of female labours while in the male labour the personnel characteristics factors (age, marital status, education level) and work condition factors (working session in organization and working hours per day) were the factors that associated to work-life balance on dimension work/personal life enhancement of male labours.
This research aims to examine factors associated to the gender roles socialization of working women. Quantitative methodology was employed with individual level as a unit of analysis. The sample consisted of 398 women who are working in government agencies and private enterprise. The samples were randomly selected by multi-stage sampling technique in 9 municipals of major city. The data were collected using the interview schedule from May to June 2018 and analyzed by descriptive statistics and Chi-square. The results revealed that most of women samples (55.6 %) were in the Generation Y (19-38 years old). 51.3 percentages of the women samples were married, and 43.7 percentages got bachelor degree or higher. Most women, samples (54.3 %) have gender roles socialization in traditional style by the principle, Women should be a housewife. When analyzing factors associated to the gender roles socialization of working women with Chi-square, it was found that the characteristics of women (education level) and work condition factors (organization size and the understanding of women's labor rights) are the factors that associated to the gender roles socialization of working women at statistically significant 0.01 level.
