The inhibiting action of ferrocene and p-ferrocenyl-aniline on the kinetics of thermal degradation of polyethylene was investigated by gravimetry, by measuring the changes in average molecular weight, by gas chromatography and spectroscopic techniques. The effect of ferrocene .derivatives is explained by assuming chemical reactions of the decomposition products (such as cyclopentadiene and cyclopentadienyl radicals) with macroradicals to occur.
The oxidation of isoprene proceeds regioselectively with the formation of 2-methyl-2-buten-1-ol. This oxidation is more rapid for isoprene than for 2-methyl-2-pentene.

The possibility of the formation of a cyclic intermediate complex in the tetraphenyl-porphyrin manganese chloride-oxygen-olefin system was verified based on data on the state of the central reduced ion and the type of coordination of the oxygen molecule.
It has been established that Co(II) porphyrins form five-coordinated complexes with olefins having a high level of donor capability, and six-coordinated complexes in the presence of oxygen. For these systems, we have found the equilibrium constants and the rate constant for the forward reaction of formation of the six-coordinated complex with oxygen in the example of 2-methyl-1-butene.
The oxidation of olefins in the presence of methoxytetraphenylporphin manganese (III) chloride complex proceeds regioselectively to give the products of oxidation at the most substituted carbon atom.
The rate and extent of oxidation of olefins by molecular oxygen activated by a tetraphenylporphyrin complex of divalent manganese is directly related to the degree of substitution of the double bond. Δ5-Steroids are oxidized to 5α-hydroxysteroids, and this reaction provides a convenient method for the preparation of these steroids.
