A review of the species of Aradidae or flat bugs found in Iowa is presented. New state records for Aradus aequalis Say, A. crenatus Say, A. implanus, and Mezira lobata (Say) are included.
Six new state records arc presented for the toad bug Gelastocoris oculatus oculatus (Fabricius): Delaware, Iowa, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New York, Virginia, and Wyoming. The species is now known from 28 states and three Canadian provinces.
A review of the Notonectidae or backswimmers of Iowa is presented. New state records for Buenoa macrotibialis Hungerford, Buenoa scimitra Bare, Notonecta insulata Kirby, Notonecta irrorata Uhler, and Notonecta lunata Hungerford are included.
The stink bug Perillus strigipes is reported from Alabama, Iowa, Kansas, Louisiana, Maine, and Mississippi for the first time. This insect species has a wide distribution but generally is seldom collected.
An adult specimen of Leptomantispa pulchella (Banks) (Neuroptera: Mantispidae) was collected in southeast Iowa. Published records indicate the species is present in southwestern Canada and much of Central America, but this is the first published report of this species from Iowa.

The known range of Zenoa picea (Palisot de Beauvois) (Coleoptera: Callirhipidae) is summarized based on data from specimens, literature, and internet sources. This species, the only known member of the Callirhipidae occurring north of Mexico and previously thought uncommon, is recorded from 26 states and the District of Columbia in the United States. Its documented range is from Florida north to New Jersey, west to Iowa and Texas. No records are known from Mexico or Canada.
Strongylium crenatum Mäklin (Coleoptera: Tenebrionidae) is reported from Iowa for the first time. After discovering that Iowa represented a large range extension for this species, label data were collected to update its range. Numerous insect collections and references were checked and specimens representing 17 states were located.
