Samples from the Wilsonville, Alabama, demonstration plant were chemically separated into phenolic, amine and neutral fractions. Each fraction was analyzed for total chloride. The results indicate that the high corrosion rates in the atmospheric distillation tower were not due to the formation of a highly corrosive organic chloride.
