Systemic therapy for triple negative breast cancer (TNBC) is mostly based upon chemotherapy. Epithelial Growth Factor Receptor (EGFR) is overexpressed in around 50% of TNBC and may play a role in its pathogenesis. Consequently, we performed a multicentric pilot Phase II neoadjuvant trial of cetuximab (anti‐EGFR antibody) combined with docetaxel for patients with operable, Stage II–III TNBC. Therapy consisted of weekly cetuximab (first infusion: 400 mg/m2, then 250 mg/m2) combined with six cycles of docetaxel (T: 100 mg/m2) q.3 weeks. Subsequently, all patients underwent surgery. The primary endpoint was pathological complete response (pCR) while clinical response, toxicity and ancillary studies were secondary endpoints. Paraffin‐embedded and frozen tumor samples were systematically collected in order to identify predictive biomarkers of efficacy and resistance. From a total of 35 accrued patients, 25 were assessable for pathologic response. The pCR rate was 24% [95% CI: 7.3–40.7]. Complete clinical response rate (cCR) was observed in 22% of cases. Conservative surgery was performed in 75% of patients. Toxicity, mostly cutaneous and hematologic, was manageable. The pre‐therapy ratio between CD8+ and FOXP3+ tumor‐infiltrating lymphocytes equal or higher than 2.75 was predictive of pCR: 43% versus 0%, p = 0.047. Cetuximab in combination with docetaxel displays a modest activity, but acceptable toxicity as neoadjuvant therapy of operable TNBC. Similarly to previous observations using panitumumab, another anti‐EGFR antibody, the immune component of the tumor microenvironment may play an important role in predicting TNBC response to the neoadjuvant therapy.
Aim: Everolimus (Afinitor®) is indicated for the treatment of hormone receptor-positive, HER2/neu negative MBC, combined with exemestane, in postmenopausal women without symptomatic visceral disease after recurrence or progression following a non-steroidal aromatase inhibitor. However late patients after several lines may also benefit from new therapies, and we report here our experience on MBC patients pre-treated by a median of 3 CT and 2 HT lines at metastatic stage.

BACKGROUND:Triple-negative breast cancer (TNBC) is a heterogeneous group of tumors for some of which the epithelial growth factor receptor (EGFR) pathway may play an important role. We investigated the efficacy and toxicity of an anti-EGFR antibody (panitumumab) combined with a standard neoadjuvant anthracycline-taxane-based chemotherapy in patients with operable, stage II-III, TNBC.PATIENTS AND METHODS:Treatment in this multicentric neoadjuvant pilot study consisted of panitumumab (9 mg/kg) for eight cycles q.3 weeks combined with four cycles of 5-fluorouracil, epidoxorubicin and cyclophosphamide (FEC100: 500/100/500 mg/m(2)) q.3 weeks, followed by four cycles of docetaxel (T: 100 mg/m(2)) q.3 weeks. Following therapy, all patients underwent surgical resection. Pathologic complete response (pCR) in assessable patients was the main end point while clinical response, toxicity and ancillary studies were secondary end points. Paraffin-embedded and frozen tumor samples were systematically collected with the aim to identify predictive biomarkers of efficacy and resistance in order to select biologically defined subpopulations for potential further clinical development of the anti-EGFR antibody.RESULTS:Sixty patients were included with 47 assessable for pathologic response. The pCR rates were 46.8% [95% confidence interval (CI): 32.5% to 61.1%] and 55.3% [95% CI: 41.1% to 69.5%] according, respectively, to Chevallier and Sataloff classifications. The complete clinical response (cCR) rate was 37.5%. Conservative surgery was carried out in 87% of cases. Toxicity was manageable. The association of high EGFR and low cytokeratin 8/18 expression in tumor cells on one hand and high density of CD8+ tumor-infiltrating lymphocytes on the other hand were significantly predictive of pCR.CONCLUSIONS:Panitumumab in combination with FEC100 followed by docetaxel appears efficacious, with acceptable toxicity, as neoadjuvant therapy of operable TNBC. Several biomarkers could help define large subsets of patients with a high probability of pCR, suggesting a potential interest to further develop this combination in biologically defined subgroups of patients with TNBC.CLINICAL TRIAL NUMBER:NCT00933517.
Abstract Background: TNBC is a heterogenous group of tumors for some of which the Epithelial Growth Factor Receptor pathway (EGFR) may play an important role. We evaluated the efficacy and toxicity of an anti-EGFR antibody (cetuximab) combined with docetaxel, which were given to the TNBC patients (pts) in the neoadjuvant setting. A biomarker analysis accompanied this trial, aiming to identify predictors of response. Methods: 35 patients with stage II-IIIA TN breast disease were prospectively included in this multicentre pilot study. Systemic therapy (ST) consisted of 6 cycles of docetaxel (100 mg/m2) each 3 weeks, in combination with weekly cetuximab (first dose 400mg/m2 then 250 mg/m2/week) for 6 cycles. All patients underwent surgery at completion of ST. Patient characteristics : mean age 48 [28-67]; TNM: T1: 3%, T2: 73%, T3: 24%; N0: 61%, N1-N2: 39%; mean tumor size 40 mm [15-100]; SBR: grade III: 73%, grade II: 27%. The median number of cycles was for docetaxel 6 [1-6] and for cetuximab 15 [1-18]. Pathological complete response (pCR) rate was 24% according to the Chevallier and Sataloff classifications; 28% if we consider breast pCR only. Overall clinical response rate was 57% (22% CR). Conservative surgery was performed in 75% of cases. The main side effect was skin toxicity: grade II: 39%, grade III: 36%, grade IV: 3%. Other side effects were: neutropenia grade IV: 12.7%, febrile neutropenia: 1.3%, hand-foot syndrome grade III: 3%, grade II: 3%, ungueal toxicity grade III: 3%, grade II: 33%. Paraffin-embedded and frozen samples were systematically collected before and after ST for biomarker studies. Germinal BRCA1 mutations and EGFR, KRAS, BRAF and PI3KCA somatic mutations were analyzed by NGS. EGFR, MET, cytokeratins 5/6 and 8/18, PTEN, P-cadherin, ALDH1, Ki67, p53 and the number of FOXP3+ or CD8+ tumor-infiltrating lymphocytes (TIL) were evaluated by immunohistochemistry. Results: The biomarker analysis was interpretable on the samples from 21 pts (3 pCR and 18 non-pCR). We applied the ROC curve to identify the best cut-off value for Ki67, EGFR, MET, cytokeratin 5/6 and 8/18, p53, ALDH1, PTEN, P-cadherin and the FOXP3+ or CD8+ TIL counts. None of these biomarkers was predictive of pCR except for the CD8+/FOXP3+ TIL count ratio. pCR rate was higher in the pts with the ratio equal or higher than 2.75 than in the others (43% versus 0%, p = 0.047). BRCA1 mutations were detected in 16% of pts. PI3K and EGFR somatic mutations were observed in 1 and 3 patients, respectively. The presence of the mutations was not predictive of pCR. Conclusion: Similarly to the previously reported trial by our group (SABCS 2012, abstract 1081), the immune component of the tumor microenvironment plays a very important role in the TNBC response to cytotoxic therapy. PURPOSE:Patient nonadherence to oral antineoplastic therapy is a well-recognized barrier to effective treatment. In order to identify patients who may need additional support to become adherent, it is important to have a useful tool that takes into account all the parameters of adherence to prescription. The aim of this prospective study was to evaluate adherence of oral antineoplastic agents and to investigate two calculation methods of adherence score.PATIENTS AND METHODS:Twenty-nine cancer patients were enrolled in this study. Fourteen were treated by capecitabine and 15 patients by aromatase inhibitors. Adherence was measured using a medication event monitoring system and adherence score was calculated by a usual method and a composite adherence score that takes into account missed doses and also intake interval errors (between 2 doses and between meals).RESULTS:Across the 6-month evaluation period, average adherence was 95% with the standard calculation (capecitabine group: 89%; aromatase inhibitor group: 99%) versus 83% with the composite index (capecitabine group: 62%; aromatase inhibitor group: 99%) (p = 0.030). The composite calculation permits to highlight more nonadherent patients (29.6 vs. 7.4%), particularly in the capecitabine group (73 vs. 18%, p = 0.001). We report 2 cases identified as nonadherent with composite adherence rate.CONCLUSION:The composite adherence score permits to better evaluate adherence to prescription and to identify barriers to adherence and persistence.
BACKGROUND:Very effective trastuzumab-based primary systemic therapy (PST) can be proposed for conservative surgery purpose to human epidermal growth factor receptor 2 (HER2)-positive breast cancer (HER2+BC). Long-term follow-up (LTFU) warrants further data.PATIENTS AND METHODS:LTFU of patients, with stage II/III HER2+BC, treated by trastuzumab associated with docetaxel (Taxotere(®)) and/or carboplatin used as anthracycline-free PST was studied.RESULTS:Among 135 patients, with a median follow-up of 48.3 months [95% confidence interval (CI) 45.3-52.4 months], the relapse-free survival (RFS) rate was 73.2% (95% CI 63.76% to 80.55%) while the overall survival (OS) rate was 91.87% (95% CI 84.23% to 95.90%). Adjuvant trastuzumab favorably influenced RFS in univariate analysis while the pathological nodal invasion unfavorably influenced RFS [Cox multivariate analysis (hazard ratio = 2.80, 95% CI 1.36-5.76, P = 0.0052)] and OS. Cardiac toxicity was minor (2.2% transient, reversible asymptomatic decrease in left ventricular ejection fraction).CONCLUSION:This is the first report of LTFU showing that anthracycline-free trastuzumab-based PST combined either with docetaxel and/or carboplatin can achieve, without cardiac toxicity, very competitive results in terms of pathological complete response, RFS and OS, in HER2+BC. The choice of this schedule could be proposed to patients with vascular contraindication for anthracyclines or because patient's or physician's preference for a taxane-only schedule.
e11507 Background: Almost 20% of breast cancers over express Her2, which is associated with a more aggressive phenotype and with a decreased survival. Nevertheless, trastuzumab (T) has been a revolutionary step in the adjuvant and in the metastatic treatments of Her2 positive breast cancers. Here, we focus on neoadjuvant T and try to determine the factors correlating with disease free survival and with overall survival in Her2 positive breast cancer treated with T based neoadjuvant chemotherapy. Methods: Data from two published T based neoadjuvant phases II were used: the TAX-HER trial which studied the use of 6 courses of 3 weekly docetaxel with weekly neoadjuvant T (scheme TH) (Coudert et. al. Annals of Oncology 2006) and the GET(N)A-1 trial which studied the use of 6 courses of 3 weekly docetaxel and carboplatin along with weekly neoadjuvant T (scheme TCH) followed by 3 weekly adjuvant T (Coudert et. al. JCO 2007). Moreover, additional patients from our institution and treated by neoadjuvant TH and adjuvant T were included. Survival curves were estimated using Kaplan-Meier methods and compared by log-rank test. Results: Data was available for 128 patients. 62 patients (48.4%) received neoadjuvant TH from whom 39 did not receive adjuvant T. 66 (51.6%) received neoadjuvant TCH and adjuvant T. Tumors characteristics were as followed: 65 (50.7%) SBR 1–2, 54 (42.19%) SBR 3, 49 (38.28%) hormonal receptors (RH) negative and 72 (56.25%) RH positive. The rate of pathological complete response (pCR) (Chevalier 1/2) was 39.6%. Overall survival (OS) for the entire cohort was 74,8 months. Relapse was defined as local, regional, metastatic relapse or death. Survival without relapse (SR) was 74.8 months. No difference was noted in OS and in SR according to the type of chemotherapy, TH or TCH. pCR did significantly influence SR (p = 0. 03) and survival without local recurrence (SLR) (p = 0.04) but neither OS nor survival without metastatic relapse (SMR). Multivariate analysis demonstrated that OS was correlated with node response (as defined by sataloff grade NA or NB) (p=0.0275) and the use of hormonal therapy in RH positive tumors (p=0.0724). 1094 Background: There is increasing evidence that women with HER2-positive metastatic breast cancer (MBC) benefit from continued trastuzumab (H) therapy beyond disease progression (PD). In a Phase II multicentre 2-step trial we evaluated women for their response to second-line treatment with H + vinorelbine (N) following PD after receiving first-line H + taxane for HER2-positive MBC. Methods: Women aged =18 years with HER2-positive MBC received H (8 mg/kg loading dose followed by 6 mg/kg q3w or 4 mg/kg loading dose followed by 2 mg/kg qw) + N (30 mg/m2 days 1 and 8 q3w) until PD. The primary end point was overall response rate (ORR); secondary end points included time to progression, time to treatment failure, overall survival and safety. Data from a planned interim analysis are presented. Results: Seventeen out of a planned 50 patients (pts) were enrolled between June 2003 and October 2006, with a mean age of 54 years (range 42–70). Nine pts had hormone receptor-positive disease at baseline and 17 pts had HER2-positive disease (16 pts IHC 3+; 1 pt IHC 2+ and CISH+). Pts had previously received H in combination with paclitaxel (9 pts) or docetaxel (8 pts) as first-line therapy for MBC. Pts received a median of 6 treatment cycles with H + N (range 2–14), with 2 pts receiving H q3w and 15 pts receiving H qw. ORR was 29%, with 2 pts showing a complete response, 3 pts experiencing a partial response and 4 pts achieving stable disease lasting 6 months. Eight pts experienced PD. Re-treatment with H + N was well tolerated beyond PD, with grade 3/4 haematological toxicities being the most common serious adverse events, leading to a delay and dose reduction of N. No relevant cardiac toxicities were reported, with only 2 grade 1 cardiac events. All pts withdrew, 14 due to PD. Conclusions: This interim analysis indicates that treatment with Herceptin plus chemotherapy beyond PD is active (ORR 29%) and well tolerated, and provides further evidence that re-treatment with H is a promising therapeutic option. Pt accrual is ongoing and updated results will be presented. No significant financial relationships to disclose.
Lapatinib, a selective small-molecule dual-tyrosine kinase inhibitor of HER2 and EGFR, is effective in HER2-positive patients with advanced metastatic breast cancer. However, its low and variable oral absorption, large required daily dose and serious gastrointestinal side effects all limit its clinical use. Intravenous administration offers a good option to overcome these disadvantages. However, the poor solubility of lapatinib in water and organic solvents causes lapatinib to fail in a common injectable preparation. Considering lapatinib's high albumin binding ability (>99%), in this study, we developed human serum albumin nanoparticles loaded with lapatinib (LHNPs) by Nab technology for intravenous administration and investigated its efficacy against HER2-positive breast cancer. Raman shift, X-ray diffraction and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy studies demonstrated that lapatinib was successfully incorporated into nanoparticles, and LHNPs exhibited good stability and sustained-release effect in vitro. LHNPs could be effectively taken up by SKBr3 cells in a concentration- and time-dependent manner, and the uptake was mediated by energy-dependent endocytosis, which involved clathrin-dependent pinocytosis. Furthermore, in vitro and in vivo data indicated that LHNPs presented the strong ability to induce apoptosis and superior anti-tumor efficacy in tumor-bearing mice to the commercial tablet Tykerb through the inhibition of HER2 phosphorylation. Subchronic toxicity assays indicated that LHNPs had no hepatic or kidney toxicity. With mature technology for industrial production and enhanced therapeutic effects, LHNPs are likely to have great potential as a safe therapeutic candidate against HER2-positive breast cancer in the clinic.
1082 Background: This study was performed to evaluate retrospectively the efficacy and tolerance of gemcitabine plus oxaliplatin (GEMOX) as salvage chemotherapy in patients with metastatic breast cancer (MBC) in a mono-institutional series. Methods: From January 2003 to March 2005, 38 MBC patients were treated at disease progression according to three schedules: (a) gemcitabine 1000 mg/m2 on day 1 and 8 and oxaliplatin 100 mg/m2 on day 1 every three weeks (n=30); (b) gemcitabine 1,000 mg/m2 on day 1, followed same day by oxaliplatin 100 mg/m2 every two weeks (n=7); (c) gemcitabine 1250 mg/m2 on days 1 and 8 and oxaliplatin 100 mg/m2 on day 1 every four weeks (n=1). Results: All patients (median age, 58 years) received prior chemotherapy for metastatic disease (median of four lines). Radiological response was assessed in 36 patients: 12 patients (33%) experienced a partial response and 11 patients (31%) had a stable disease. The median times to progression and survival were 4 months (range, 0–21 months) and 10 months (range, 2–24 months), respectively. A total of 233 cycles were administered with a median of 5.5 cycles per patient (range, 1–21 cycles). Grade 3/4 toxicity consisted of myelotoxicity in 26% of patients and neurotoxicity in 8%. Conclusions: This retrospective study suggests that GEMOX is an effective combination with a good tolerance profile in heavily pretreated MBC. Further evaluation of this regimen is warranted in this tumor indication. No significant financial relationships to disclose.
This phase II study investigated the efficacy and tolerability of a primary chemotherapy regimen combining vinorelbine, epirubicin, and paclitaxel (VEP protocol) in women with stage II/III operable breast cancer. Patients (n = 50) were treated with six cycles of VEP according to the following schedule: vinorelbine (Navelbine); Pierre Fabre, Boulogne, France; http://www.pierre-fabre.com) 20 mg/m2, epirubicin (Farmorubicin; Pharmacia, New York, NY; http://www.pnu.com) 35 mg/m2 given on days 1 and 8, paclitaxel (Taxol; Bristol-Myers Squibb, New York, NY; http://www.bmsoncology.com) 175 mg/m2 given on day 9, and G-CSF 5 mg/kg/day given on days 10-20 of a 21-day cycle, followed by surgery and radiotherapy. After six cycles of VEP, the pathological response rate (pCR) in breast was confirmed in six patients (12%; 95% confidence interval [CI]: 3-21)) using Chevallier's classification and in nine patients (18%; 95% CI: 7.4-28.6) using Sataloff's classification. The clinical response rate was 42% (95% CI: 28.3-55.7), including 26% complete responses. Breast conservation was achieved in 68% of patients. After a median follow-up of 48 months (range, 34-62 months), 16 relapses were observed. The overall and disease-free survivals at 5 years were 54.1% (95% CI: 40.3-67.9) and 38% (95% CI: 24.1-51.9), respectively. The principal toxicities of VEP were grade 3/4 neutropenia observed in 30% of patients and grade 3 anemia observed in 12% of patients. There was no case of severe cardiac toxicity, thrombocytopenia, or any other serious adverse events. In conclusion, whereas this regimen was relatively well tolerated, it appears inferior to other regimens and its use is not recommended.
PURPOSE To evaluate long-term cardiac function in patients without disease who had received six cycles of fluorouracil 500 mg/m(2), epirubicin 50 mg/m(2), and cyclophosphamide 500 mg/m(2) (FEC 50) or the same regimen with epirubicin 100 mg/m(2) (FEC 100) as adjuvant chemotherapy for node-positive breast cancer in the French Adjuvant Study Group-05 trial. PATIENTS AND METHODS One hundred fifty patients (FEC 50, n = 65; FEC 100, n = 85) who were without disease and who gave their informed consent were enrolled for long-term cardiac assessment. The assessment included cardiac events occurring after the end of chemotherapy, vital signs, concomitant disease, ECG, isotopic left ventricular ejection fraction (LVEF), and echographic parameters. Abnormal files were blindly reviewed by cardiologists and oncologists. Results The median follow-up time was 102 months. After FEC 100, LVEF was less than 50% in five patients (radioisotopic method), and two patients experienced congestive heart failure (CHF) that was possibly related to treatment. Asymptomatic left ventricular dysfunction (LVD) was experienced in 18 patients after FEC 100 and in one patient after FEC 50. In these patients, treatment causality was probable in eight patients. Two additional years after this assessment, all 18 patients were still asymptomatic. CONCLUSION After more than 8 years of follow-up, the cardiac toxicity observed after adjuvant treatment with FEC 100 comprised two cases of well-controlled CHF and 18 cases of asymptomatic LVD. In the majority of women with primary breast cancer, the benefits of treatment with FEC 100 in terms of disease-free and overall survival outweigh the risks, and cardiac risk factors should be carefully evaluated in patient selection.

Purpose To assess whether an epirubicin (EPI) -based chemotherapy plus hormonal regimen improves disease-free (DFS) in women older than 65 years, with node-positive, operable breast cancer (BC), relative to tamoxifen (TAM) alone. Patients and Methods A total of 338 patients were randomly assigned after surgery to receive TAM 30 mg/d for 3 years (TAM, n = 164), or EPI 30 mg on days 1, 8, and 15 every 28 days for six cycles plus TAM 30 mg/d for 3 years (EPI-TAM, n = 174). In both arms, patients received radiotherapy, delivered after chemotherapy (CT) in the EPI-TAM group. Results The 6-year DFS rates were 69.3% with TAM and 72.6% with EPI-TAM (P = .14). The multivariate analysis shows a relative risk of relapse of 1.93 (95% CI, 1.70 to 2.17) with TAM compared with EPI-TAM (P = .005). The 6-year OS, related to disease progression, was 79.1% and 79.8%, respectively (P = .41). Compliance with CT was good: 96.9% of patients received six cycles. The acute toxicity per patient was mild: grade 2 neutropenia in 5.9%, grade 2 anemia in 2.0%, grade 3 nausea or vomiting in 4.6%, and grade 3 alopecia in 7.2%. Five cases (in five patients) of decreased left ventricular ejection fraction occurred after CT: three after adjuvant CT, and two after anthracycline-based CT for relapse. One patient died as a result of dysrhythmia related to carcinomatous lymphangitis. No secondary leukemia occurred. Conclusion This study conducted in node-positive elderly patients demonstrates a significant contribution of a weekly EPI regimen in terms of DFS. Moreover, this regimen is safe for hematologic, nonhematologic, and cardiac toxicities.
Summary: Conventional treatment of high-grade glioma includes maximal surgical resection followed by external radiation therapy. Despite this treatment, the prognosis for patients is poor. High doses of chemotherapy might be another way to increase the response rate and median survival. Increasing doses of BCNU might be more effective, but also provokes unacceptable myelotoxicity. This dose-limiting toxicity can be circumvented by using autologous blood stem cell rescue. We report our experience of high-dose BCNU followed by transplantation of autologous hematopoietic stem cells in 114 patients with high-grade gliomas. Of the 114 gliomas, 78 were glioblastoma multiforme (GM) (68%), 24 anaplastic astrocytomas (AA) (21%), and 12 anaplastic oligodendrogliomas (OD) (11%). Complete surgical resection was performed for 22 patients (18 GM and 4 AA). The median age was 44 years (range 17–65). A total of 84 patients received autologous hematopoietic stem cells from bone marrow harvest, while 30 patients received granulocyte colony-stimulating factor followed by apheresis and received peripheral blood progenitor cells (PBPC). High dose of BCNU (800 mg/m 2 ) was given at least 1 month after neurosurgery. Bone marrow or PBPC was transplanted 48–72 h after chemotherapy. Radiotherapy was started approximately 40 days after transplantation to a total of 60 Gy. Median follow-up was 89 months (19–163). The overall survival (OS) was, respectively, 12 months for GM, 37 months for OD and 81 months for AA. Histological type appeared to be the main discriminating factor, with a worse prognosis for GM. Within the GM population, age, completeness of surgery, and response appeared to be one important prognostic factors. The AA and OD populations were small to reliably assess prognostic factors. On multivariate analysis, the main prognostic factors were histologic type, quality of surgery, and age ( P <0.005). Five of 114 patients had lethal complications from the procedure. Four of these patients had a Karnovsky performance score (KPS) of 60%. The protocol thus appears to be feasible but patients should be selected for KPS more than 70%. We observed long-term survivors, although the OS and the time to treatment failure seem to be comparable to that described for other treatment. Additional pilot studies are unlikely to reveal more than a modest benefit from this procedure and therefore a randomized study should be performed.
The Scarff-Bloom-Richardson (SBR) grade, an important prognostic factor in breast cancer, was also associated with cell proliferation, a consistent indicator of response to chemotherapy. The determination of an association between SBR grade and responsiveness would be clinically useful. We explored the influence of SBR grade on response to neoadjuvant chemotherapy in patients with invasive ductal breast carcinoma. The present study centered on 431 patients registered onto one of four prospective phase II trials. SBR grading was performed according to the Elston method on needle core biopsies prospectively collected prior to treatment from 290 patients and on residual tumour at surgery from 171 patients. The post-operative grades were then compared with those obtained at diagnosis. Univariate and multivariate analysis were used to evaluate the significance of SBR grade on response to neoadjuvant chemotherapy. Both statistical analysis revealed that SBR grade III tumours responded better to neoadjuvant treatment than SBR grade I (p<10(-6)). None of the other patient and tumour characteristics tested correlated with response. Moreover, tumour responsiveness was significantly related to changes of the SBR grade (p=7x10(-3)). As a conclusion. we showed that SBR grade is a strong predictive factor of response to induction chemotherapy in breast cancer, independently of the type of regimen used. The association between evolution of the histological grade following chemotherapy and response to treatment may prove valuable for clinicians as they make their decision regarding patient therapy.
