The design and operation of a meter to measure the electric field intensity of a single microwave pulse is described. A dielectric acoustic line for surface acoustic wave (SAW) with nonlinear acousto-electric properties and two transducers are used. The first (nonlinear) metal-strip transducer excites a SAW due to the nonlinear effects as effected by the microwave's electric field. The delayed signal, which carries information about the field intensity, is picked up by an interdigital transducer.
