Commercially available plastic wraps are commonly used to cover drug product and samples for containment during photostability testing. Four commercially available plastic wraps were studied to determine their light transmissive properties and to determine whether spectroscopic differences exist among the films. Percent transmittance values were determined in the range of 300-800 nm for each film after 0, 7, and 14 days of storage under UVA and high-intensity fluorescent light. Although none of the films transmitted UVA or visible light fully, the data suggest that one brand seems to be the most suitable for sample containment during photostability studies.
Synthesis of N-(2-hydroxyethyi)amphetamine is described. Infrared and mass spectra of this drug are presented.
