Abstract We report on the preliminary measurement of the inclusive jet cross section for jj 0:5 at p s = 1:8 TeV. Two data sets with integrated luminosities of 91 pb ?1 and 14 pb ?1 were collected at the Fermilab Tevatron pp Collider with the DØ detector. The inclusive jet cross sections are measured and reported as a function of transverse jet energy (35 GeV E T 470 GeV) are in excellent agreement with next–to–leading order QCD.
A search has been carried out for events in the channel p-barp --> gamma gamma jet jet. Such a signature can characterize the production of a non-standard Higgs boson together with a W or Z boson. We refer to this non-standard Higgs, having standard model couplings to vector bosons but no coupling to fermions, as a "bosonic Higgs." With the requirement of two high transverse energy photons and two jets, the diphoton mass (m(gamma gamma)) distribution is consistent with expected background. A 90(95)% C.L. upper limit on the cross section as a function of mass is calculated, ranging from 0.60(0.80) pb for m(gamma gamma) = 65 GeV/c^2 to 0.26(0.34) pb for m(gamma gamma) = 150 GeV/c^2, corresponding to a 95% C.L. lower limit on the mass of a bosonic Higgs of 78.5 GeV/c^2.
D\O{} has measured the inclusive production cross section of W and Z bosons in a sample of 13 ${\mathrm{pb}}^{\ensuremath{-}1}$ of data collected at the Fermilab Tevatron. The cross sections, multiplied by their leptonic branching fractions, for production in $p\overline{p}$ collisions at $\sqrt{s}=1.8$ TeV are ${\ensuremath{\sigma}}_{W}\mathrm{B}(\stackrel{\ensuremath{\rightarrow}}{W}e\ensuremath{\nu})=2.36\ifmmode\pm\else\textpm\fi{}0.02\ifmmode\pm\else\textpm\fi{}0.08\ifmmode\pm\else\textpm\fi{}0.13\mathrm{}\mathrm{nb},$ ${\ensuremath{\sigma}}_{W}\mathrm{B}(\stackrel{\ensuremath{\rightarrow}}{W}\ensuremath{\mu}\ensuremath{\nu})=2.09\ifmmode\pm\else\textpm\fi{}0.06\ifmmode\pm\else\textpm\fi{}0.22\ifmmode\pm\else\textpm\fi{}0.11\mathrm{}\mathrm{nb},$ ${\ensuremath{\sigma}}_{Z}\mathrm{B}(\stackrel{\ensuremath{\rightarrow}}{Z}{e}^{+}{e}^{\ensuremath{-}})=0.218\ifmmode\pm\else\textpm\fi{}0.008\ifmmode\pm\else\textpm\fi{}0.008\ifmmode\pm\else\textpm\fi{}0.012\mathrm{}\mathrm{nb}$, and ${\ensuremath{\sigma}}_{Z}\mathrm{B}(\stackrel{\ensuremath{\rightarrow}}{Z}{\ensuremath{\mu}}^{+}{\ensuremath{\mu}}^{\ensuremath{-}})=0.178\ifmmode\pm\else\textpm\fi{}0.022\ifmmode\pm\else\textpm\fi{}0.021\ifmmode\pm\else\textpm\fi{}0.009\mathrm{}\mathrm{nb}$, where the first uncertainty is statistical and the second systematic; the third reflects the uncertainty in the integrated luminosity. For the combined electron and muon analyses, we find ${\ensuremath{\sigma}}_{W}\mathrm{B}(\stackrel{\ensuremath{\rightarrow}}{W}l\ensuremath{\nu})/{\ensuremath{\sigma}}_{Z}\mathrm{B}(\stackrel{\ensuremath{\rightarrow}}{Z}{l}^{+}{l}^{\ensuremath{-}})=10.90\ifmmode\pm\else\textpm\fi{}0.52$. Assuming standard model couplings, we use this result to determine the width of the W boson, and obtain $\ensuremath{\Gamma}(W)=2.044\ifmmode\pm\else\textpm\fi{}0.097 \mathrm{GeV}$.
The inclusive jet differential cross section has been measured for jet transverse energies, ${E}_{T}$, from 15 to 440 GeV, in the pseudorapidity region $0.1\ensuremath{\le}|\ensuremath{\eta}|\ensuremath{\le}0.7$. The results are based on $19.5\mathrm{pb}{}^{\ensuremath{-}1}$ of data collected by the CDF Collaboration at the Fermilab Tevatron collider. The data are compared with QCD predictions for various sets of parton distribution functions. The cross section for jets with ${E}_{T}g200\phantom{\rule{0ex}{0ex}}\mathrm{GeV}$ is significantly higher than current predictions based on $O({\ensuremath{\alpha}}_{s}^{3})$ perturbative QCD calculations. Various possible explanations for the high- ${E}_{T}$ excess are discussed.
We report the results of a study of color coherence effects in pp collisions based on data collected by the DØ detector during the 1994–1995 run of the Fermilab Tevatron Collider, at a center of mass energy Initial-to-final state color interference effects are studied by examining particle distribution patterns in events with a W boson and at least one jet. The data are compared to Monte Carlo simulations with different color coherence implementations and to an analytic modified-leading-logarithm perturbative calculation based on the local parton-hadron duality hypothesis.
We report the results of a study of color coherence effects in p (p) over bar collisions based on data collected by the D phi detector during the 1994-1995 run of the Fermilab Tevatron Collider, at a center of mass energy root s = 1.8 TeV. Initial-to-final state color interference effects are observed by examining particle distribution patterns in events with a W boson and at least one jet. Using the D0 detector at the 1.8 TeV (p)over-bar-p Fermilab Tevatron collider, we have measured the inclusive dijet mass spectrum in the central pseudorapidity region [eta(jet)] less-than 1.0 for dijet masses greater-than 200 GeV/c(2). We have also measured the ratio of spectra sigma([eta(jet)] less-than 0.5)/sigma(0.5 less-than [eta(jet)] less-than 1.0). The order alpha(s)(3) quantum chromodynamics predictions are in good agreement with the data and we rule out models of quark compositeness with a contact interaction scale less-than 2.4 TeV at the 95% confidence level.
Using data corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 79 pb, DØ has searched for events containing multiple jets and large missing transverse energy in pp collisions at √ s = 1.8 TeV at the Fermilab Tevatron collider. Observing no significant excess beyond what is expected from the standard model, we set limits on the masses of squarks and gluinos and on the model parameters m0 and m1/2, in the framework of the minimal low-energy supergravity models of supersymmetry. For tan β = 2 and A0 = 0, with μ < 0, we exclude all models with mq̃ < 250 GeV/c . For models with equal squark and gluino masses, we exclude m < 260 GeV/c. Typeset using REVTEX
We have made a precise measurement of the central inclusive jet cross section at root s = 1.8 TeV. The measurement is based on an integrated luminosity of 92 pb(-1) collected at the Fermilab Tevatron (p)over-bar-p Collider with the D0 detector. The cross section, reported as a function of jet transverse energy (E-T greater than or equal to 60 GeV) in the pseudorapidity interval [eta] less-than-or-equal-to 0.5, is in good agreement with predictions from next-to-leading order quantum chromodynamics.

We report a measurement of the top quark mass using six candidate events for the process pbarp->ttbar->l^+ nu l^- nubar b bbar + X, observed in the D0 experiment at the Fermilab ppbar collider. Using maximum likelihood fits to the dynamics of the decays, we measure a mass for the top quark of m(top) = 168.4 +- 12.3 (stat) +- 3.6 (syst) GeV/c^2. We combine this result with our previous measurement in the ttbar->l+jets channel to obtain m(top) = 172.1 +- 7.1 GeV/c^2 as the best value of the mass of the top quark measured by D0.
