Introduction: Internet based home monitoring (HM) may improve workflows in managing the increasing follow-up burden of cardiovascular implantable electronic devices (CIED). However, the main technical, logistical and human obstacles to implementing such technology are unclear.
Introduction: Home monitoring (HM) of cardiac devices has been proposed as standard of care in arrhythmia units. There is currently no physician reimbursement in Australia for the use of HM. There is an increasing annual workload imposed on clinics for cardiovascular implanted electronic device (CIED) monitoring.
Internet based home monitoring (HM) promotes efficient, reliable and safe automated monitoring in patients with cardiovascular implanted electronic devices (CIED). Yet it is not standard of care in many clinical practices.
