COVID-19 had led to severe clinical manifestations. In the current scenario, 98 794 942 people are infected, and it has responsible for 2 124 193 deaths around the world as reported by World Health Organization on 25 January 2021. Telemedicine has become a critical technology for providing medical care to patients by trying to reduce transmission of the virus among patients, families, and doctors. The economic consequences of coronavirus have affected the entire world and disrupted daily life in many countries. The development of telemedicine applications and eHealth services can significantly help to manage pandemic worldwide better. Consequently, the main objective of this paper is to present a systematic review of the implementation of telemedicine and e-health systems in the combat to COVID-19. The main contribution is to present a comprehensive description of the state of the art considering the domain areas, organizations, funding agencies, researcher units and authors involved. The results show that the United States and China have the most significant number of studies representing 42.11% and 31.58%, respectively. Furthermore, 35 different research units and 9 funding agencies are involved in the application of telemedicine systems to combat COVID-19.
The TELEDU tele-education ecosystem, integrated by software and hardware components, allows the use of Web resources through Interactive Digital TV (iDTV) without the need to be continuously connected. It works with any existing digital TV standard and is especially useful for users who do not have broadband, being a very effective solution in places where there is a digital divide. The user must have, at least, a cell phone with 3G connection and any of these three options: Digital Terrestrial TV (DTT), Satellite TV or Cable TV. The conception of TELEDU is based on the premise that the software will offer a friendly interaction. Based on this, an interoperable, open and scalable environment has been developed, which works with PCs, tablets, smartphones and digital TV, offering a visual interface oriented to children, the elderly and people with functional diversity and people with technophobia. The concept of Transmedia Online Object Content (TOOC) is introduced, so that digital contents are in different formats and people with functional diversity and people with technophobia. BACKGROUND:Information and communications technologies are transforming our social interactions and life-styles. One of the most promising applications of information technology is healthcare and wellness management that characterized by early detection of conditions, prevention, and long-term healthcare management.OBJECTIVE:The main purpose of this document is to do a study, first about the actual literature about mobile phone applications to measure and control heart-rate and second a study about these applications themselves, analyzing the different app stores more popular nowadays, Google Play Store and iTunes (for Android and iOS devices respectively).METHODS:The Web portals and databases that were used to perform the searches are IEEE Xplore, National Center for Biotechnology Information, Springer, ResearchGate, Science Direct and Scopus, taking into account the date of publication from 2010 to 2018, publications in English and Spanish.RESULTS:40 relevant papers have been found related to mobile phone apps to measure and control heart rate. The results show that of a total of 400 applications found 61.25% of them are in the Play Store (Android systems) and the remaining 38.75% were found in the iTunes Store (iOS systems).CONCLUSIONS:From the review of the research articles analyzed, it can be said that the most applications found are for Android devices. They occupy 76.53% of the world mobile phone market, while iOS only owns 18.97%.
The actual challenge in health is to manage patients with chronic diseases from a holistic approach where technology around the patient and at the city enhances their wellness. This paper deepens in the relations between health, devices, and models of technological cities and how these can be modeled to provide a more cost efficient solution while less invasive and more natural to the end users. In light of this, usable and accessible software and a wide range of devices, ranging from PC, smartphone, tablet and SmartTV have been tested. This manuscript will give good comprehension on how technology and disease management care models interact with the patient.
This paper proposes an integrated model of social-health resources management. The authors present the actual challenges for health care, in an environment characterized by longer life expectancy and an increase in the number of patients with chronic pathologies, in a scenario of both, economic and financial crises. Their presentation includes management and financial issues, and the technological trends –such as the development of personalized and regenerative medicine– which will lead to an increase in health spending. The task of facing these challenges, they explain, cannot be postponed, the goals should be to improve: the efficiency in the use of health resources, the quality of health care and the level of patient satisfaction. Finally, they present some concepts about the application of information and communications technologies in health, show its relationship with the chronic patient care and present both, the current management models for this type of patient and the new proposed model.
