In a complex electromagnetic environment, any noise present generally exhibits strong impulsive characteristics. The performance of existing parameter estimation methods carried out in Gaussian white noise for the linear frequency modulation (LFM) signal degrades or even fails under impulsive noise. This paper proposes a novel parameter estimation method to address this problem. Firstly, the properties of the piecewise nonlinear amplitude transform (PNAT) are derived. This manuscript verifies that the PNAT can retain phase information of the LFM signal while suppressing the impulsive noise. Subsequently, a new concept known as piecewise nonlinear amplitude transform parametric symmetric instantaneous autocorrelation function (PNAT-PSIAF) is proposed. Based on this concept, a novel method called piecewise nonlinear amplitude transform Lv's distribution (PNAT-LVD) is proposed to estimate the centroid frequency and chirp rate of the LFM signal. The simulations show that the proposed algorithm can effectively suppress the impulsive noise without prior knowledge of the noise for both the single-component and double-component LFM signal. In addition, two parameters of the LFM signal can be precisely estimated by the proposed method under low generalized signal-to-noise ratios (GSNR). The stronger the impulsive characteristics of the noise, the better the performance of the algorithm.
Deception jamming of synthetic aperture radar (SAR) has attracted extensive attention due to its low power consumption and high fidelity advantages. However, existing SAR deception jamming algorithms assume that SAR operates on a linear trajectory. In practice, SAR trajectories often become nonlinear due to factors such as atmospheric turbulence, which results in the jamming signals lacking the two-dimensional spatial variability of nonlinear-trajectory SAR echo signal and affects the imaging quality of deception jamming. This paper proposes a new algorithm for nonlinear-trajectory airborne SAR deception jamming based on hybrid domain efficient (HDE) modulation. This algorithm derives the jamming frequency response (JFR) with SAR trajectory deviation in the azimuth time–frequency hybrid domain. Based on the hybrid domain modulation, the jammer calculates the JFR of the linear trajectory in the azimuth frequency domain and constructs for the real-time trajectory deviation pulse by pulse at each azimuth moment. The real-time modulation process of the algorithm only involves range domain Fourier transform and complex multiplication, combining computational efficiency and modulation flexibility. The validity constraints of the algorithm have been analyzed to ensure the focusing ability of the jamming signal. Simulation and computational complexity analysis validate the excellent performance of the algorithm in imaging quality and efficiency.
Due to the complex range migration characteristics of large squint angle synthetic aperture radar (SAR), it is difficult for traditional SAR deceptive jamming algorithms to balance focusing ability and computational efficiency. There is an urgent demand for proposing a deceptive jamming algorithm against large squint angle SAR in the field of SAR jamming. This article proposes a deceptive jamming algorithm against SAR with large squint angles based on non-linear chirp scaling and low azimuth sampling reconstruction (NLCSR). The NLCSR algorithm uses a high-order approximation of a high-precision model to accurately construct the jammer’s frequency response (JFR) function. In line with the notion of low azimuth sampling processing of the transformation domain, the construction of the space-variant azimuth modulation phase item is completed using the non-linear chirp scaling method. Compared with the traditional deceptive jamming algorithms against the large squint angle SAR, the NLCSR algorithm only needs Fourier transform and complex multiplication while ensuring the focusing ability, which is easier to implement on an efficient parallel digital signal processor based on fast Fourier transform (FFT). Simulation results prove the superior property of the NLCSR algorithm in focusing ability and computational efficiency. Compared to the existing large squint angle SAR deceptive jamming algorithm, the focusing ability of the NLCSR algorithm is almost the same, and the calculation efficiency is improved by at least 52.1%.
Resolution and mapping bandwidth are the two most important image performance indicators that reflect satellite synthetic aperture radar (SAR) imaging reconnaissance capability. The PRI-staggered signal can simultaneously achieve high resolution in azimuth and wide swath during SAR imaging, and is an important signal form of SAR. It is important for anti-SAR reconnaissance to de-interleave the staggered PRI signal from the mixed signals. To address the problem that the existing staggered signal de-interleaving algorithms cannot accommodate PRI jitter and are computationally inefficient, this paper proposes an efficient algorithm for de-interleaving staggered PRI signals. A clustering-based square sine wave interpolation method and a threshold criterion are proposed, improving computational efficiency while suppressing interference between sub-PRIs and the frame period of the staggered PRI signal. In addition, a sequence retrieval algorithm incorporating matched filter theory is proposed to improve the separation accuracy of radar pulse sequences. The simulation shows that the novel algorithm can adapt to PRI jitter and de-interleave staggered PRI signals from mixed signals with high efficiency. Compared with the existing staggered signal de-interleaving algorithm, the computational efficiency is improved by an order of magnitude.
An essentialtask of the electronic support measures system is to deinterleave the intercepted radar pulse stream. To improve the radars' antijamming capability and adapt the radars to different application scenarios, the pulse signals emitted by various radars are becoming abundant, causing the pulse stream intercepted by the reconnaissancereceiver to becomemore and more complicated. Apart from fixed pulse repetition interval (PRI) signals, other PRI modulated signals, such as jitter PRI and staggered PRI, also appear in the intercepted radar pulse stream. The aforementioned pulse stream is defined as mixed radar signals in this article. The deinterleaving of mixed radar signals is an inevitable challenge in the field of electronic countermeasures. A novel algorithm for deinterleaving mixed radar signals is proposed in this article. It is flexible for deinterleaving different PRI modulated signals. A sequence retrieval method based on clustering ideas is also proposed in the algorithm, which enables different pulse sequences to be accurately separated. Simulation results show that the new algorithm has great PRI estimation accuracy for mixed radar signals in a large pulse missing rate.
