Objective To compare image quality and radiation dose for coronary artery computed tomographic angiograms obtained with a prospectively gated axial(PGA)CT technique and a retrospectively gated helical(RGH)CT technique using meta analytic method.Methods A search in Pubmed and CNKI was performed to identify relevant English and Chinese language articles with MeSH Major Topic or Key words including computed tomography and coronary angiography.There were 6 studies evaluating image quality and radiation dose by PGA and RGH in the last 5 years.After data extraction,the analysis was performed according fixed-effect model or random-effect model.Results Based on a systematic search,6 studies were eligible for meta analysis.Heterogeneity of the included articles was tested,which was used to select suitable model to calculate pooled weighted valus of effect.It showed OR was 1.10,95% CI was 0.87-1.39 about image quality and SMD was -6.83,95% CI was -8.45--5.22 about radiation dose for PGA vs.RGH.Conclusions PGA coronary CT angiography could offer assessable image quality and substantially reduced effective radiation dose compared with traditional RGH coronary CT angiography at low HR and HRv.
